Stationary swim belt: cord, waist, and a post that holds

Updated: October 2026

You already swim, and the garden pool is shorter than a proper length. An 8 ft frame or a rectangle of about 3 m by 2 m means a turn every few strokes. A stationary swim belt is a waist strap, an elastic cord, and a fixing you already have. The five belts on the [stationary swim belt comparison](/hub/swimming-pools/stationary-swim-belt) sit between £10.95 and £17.99 on amazon.co.uk. Match the printed reach to your water, the waist maximum to your cinch, and the clip to something that will not move. One pick, after those limits, is on the [best stationary swim belt](/hub/swimming-pools/stationary-swim-belt/sub/stationary-swim-belt-best) page. Listings were read in October 2026, with no lab test. What you are actually buying

A stationary swim belt is not a lifejacket and it is not a pull buoy. You wear it at the waist, clip or tie the cord to a post, and the elastic holds you while you swim against still water. That is a different machine from a jet, which is why the swim tether versus a counter-current system page keeps those prices apart. Boosteady names neoprene, 4 m, and 45 inches. YIWONFU states 2.5–7.5 m, 150 cm, and a carabiner. Alckijy states 8–25 ft and 150 cm. TUT states 120 cm and latex in the bullets. Roaxkois states 2.5–7.5 m and 145 cm in the English bullets. Those lines are not a measured swim distance. BS EN 13138-1:2021 covers buoyant aids. None of these five pages cites it. If you stop swimming, the cord does not hold your face clear. Boosteady’s open-water safety-rope line cites no standard, so treat the product as training kit for someone who can already swim.

Cord length against the pool

The number on the title is often longer than the pool. Boosteady prints 4 m, about 13 ft, and does not repeat a second length. UK reviewers tie, wrap, or fold it, including one fold for a 16 ft pool. YIWONFU and the Roaxkois bullets print 2.5–7.5 m. A UK YIWONFU review says you shorten the cord under about five metres. TUT’s bullets say 4–10 m and the size field says 4–12 m. Alckijy’s title says 8–25 ft, while one US review says 8 ft stretching to 11 ft. For an 8–12 ft pool, the wraps are on the small-pool page.

Waist, clip, and the anchor you already have

The waist maximum is a cinch limit, not comfort at every size under it. Boosteady states 45 inches, and one UK review says the belt slips a little and is easy to fix. Roaxkois states 145 cm, and one UK review says under 29 inches is uncomfortable. TUT states 120 cm, and a Germany review says a very slim person may slip through. Alckijy and YIWONFU both state 150 cm. None of these boxes includes a deck plate. YIWONFU’s bullet says a carabiner, no tools and no knots, on a ladder, handrail, or fixed anchor. Boosteady does not name a carabiner, and UK reviews use knots on a fence, a gate post, a steel frame, or a tree. Alckijy says a ladder or a fixed point, and a UK review wrapped that cord on the poles of a 10 ft pool. The liner is the wrong anchor, and so is a rail that lifts. If the post is a fence, keep the cord off the coping.

Claims to leave on the listing

Three pages print a weight figure that is not a swimmer limit. YIWONFU’s maximum is 630 g and the item weighs 300 g. Alckijy’s maximum is 0.5 kg and the item weighs 800 g. Roaxkois prints 0.8 kg. A UK review of Alckijy mentions about 17 stone, which is one account, not a rating you can copy onto the 0.5 kg field. Roaxkois also clashes with itself: the title is German, special features say inflatable, and the dimensions are 20 mm by 20 mm, while the English bullets describe a bungee to 7.5 m. TUT’s material field says emulsion and the bullets say latex. Boosteady does not answer its own bag question. TUT claims a bag in a bullet. Age lines such as 7 and above are not a cited standard. If the table and the bullets describe different objects, leave that listing.

Common questions

How long a cord do you need for the pool you have?
Measure the water you will swim, then treat the title length as a maximum, not the working length. Boosteady’s 4 m and the 7.5 m bullets are long for an 8–12 ft pool. UK reviewers shorten them by tying, folding, or wrapping. A 2 m shop cord, such as Volare at £37, is a different product. Buy the belt whose cord you can shorten.
What happens if your waist is slimmer than the maximum?
The maximum is the upper cinch. One UK review of Roaxkois says under 29 inches is uncomfortable, against a 145 cm bullet. One UK review of Boosteady says the belt slips a little. A Germany review of TUT says a very slim person may slip through a 120 cm belt. Try the cinch before you trust the stroke.
What can you clip to if the box has no deck plate?
Use a fence, gate post, steel frame, or ladder that does not move. YIWONFU names a carabiner and says no knots. Boosteady does not name a carabiner, and UK reviews use knots. Do not clip to the liner. A rail that shifts under a pull is the same mistake.
Does a storage bag come in the box?
Only when the listing says so. TUT claims a waterproof bag in a bullet, while the included-components line names the belt. Boosteady leaves the question unanswered. A review that mentions a pouch is not the same as a line in the specification.
What does a 0.5 kg or 630 g capacity field mean?
It is a printed field. YIWONFU shows 630 g, Alckijy shows 0.5 kg, and Roaxkois shows 0.8 kg. None of those pages calls the figure a swimmer weight limit. Item weights on the same pages are 300 g, 800 g, and 100 g. Do not plan a session around those numbers.
Is a German title a problem on amazon.co.uk?
It is a reading problem. Roaxkois has a German title and English bullets, plus a spec table that says inflatable and 20 mm by 20 mm. If the title, the bullets, and the table do not describe one belt, choose a listing you can read. The star line does not repair that clash.
