What actually fails

Mesh fails at the net, and vinyl fails at a weld. Neither fault makes the other safer. Xndryan reviews describe seams splitting where the net meets the pillow, and patches that will not hold. Vinyl reviews talk about a thin sheet and a seam that opens during the week. The Intex fashion mat, 4.3 from 3,253, often holds for a holiday. A lighter hammock is not safer offshore. Choose a vinyl lilo if you want to lie flat and stay drier, and you will carry a pump and a bulkier pack. Choose a mesh hammock if you want to sit in the water, stay cooler, and pack smaller. Which is stronger, vinyl or mesh?

Xndryan's reviews include a join that patches do not hold. No kilogram line was tested. A higher stated load is not a stronger float.
Is a lounger a third type?
Yes. The Bestway at £16.90 is a vinyl lounger with a backrest, a headrest, armrests, and a cup holder. It is not a mesh hammock, and it is not a flat lilo. Reviewers use it to sit up, and larger adults say it tips. Colour is assorted. If sitting up with a drink is the job, that is the row.
Does either one count as a buoyancy aid?
No. A lilo is not a lifejacket, and a mesh hammock is not a swim seat. Two air chambers on the Bestway or the Intex pair do not change that. A seller line about people who are not strong swimmers is not a safety approval. RoSPA says inflatables do not replace supervision or swimming ability, and they belong in a pool. Children still need an adult watching, within their depth.
