Textilene or cushion sun lounger

Updated: October 2026

A textilene or cushion sun lounger often arrives as a surprise. The amazon.co.uk photo shows a deep mattress, while the file is open mesh or a pad that UK reviews call thin. You want a seat that copes with a shower, a warm afternoon, and the storage you actually have. In this set, Mosii, Straame, and SereneLife are textilene zero-gravity pairs. The fold-flat beds use Oxford or polyester, and a pad only when the included line names one. We read those listings on 15 October 2026 and did not lab-test the cloth. Whether you want a bed or a recliner sits on the [sun lounger comparison](/hub/sun-loungers/sun-lounger). Choose textilene when the listing says the seat will dry quickly. Choose a pad only if the file includes one and you will store it.

What textilene means on these listings

Textilene, as Sefton Meadows describes this garden mesh, is woven polyester coated with PVC and heat-set. That is a fabric description, not a weathering test of the chairs below. The name appears on Mosii, Straame, and SereneLife, each a pair of zero-gravity chairs. Pair prices on that October check are £49.99, £59.99, and £109.99. SereneLife weighs 18.2 kg for the two chairs, and its care line says wipe clean. Straame's bullet says the mesh is quick-drying after light showers, which still leaves the weave damp. The line does not call the cloth waterproof. The mesh is the seat, with no sponge between you and the frame, so air can move through on a warm day. The PVC coating can still feel hot in full sun, and no file measures that against a cushion. If you need to lie flat, these pairs are the wrong shape, which is the job of the sun lounger versus zero-gravity chair page.

What the padded beds actually include

A cushion is not the default on KingCamp, LSBIKE, AYDFUORT, Mopaicot, Amazon Basics, ATORPOK, or Lichfield, the fold-flat beds in this set. Oxford or polyester is the cloth, plus a pad only where the box list includes one. KingCamp states a 1.5 cm PU sponge on a single bed at £89.99. UK reviews put the Mopaicot velvet pad at about 1.5 cm too. That depth takes the edge off a tube and still feels thin next to a camp-mattress photo. UK reviews describe ATORPOK's ties as too short and the LSBIKE cushion as slipping. A pad that walks off the frame costs you the comfort you bought it for. Lichfield includes no cushion, and Amazon Basics includes none either. Lichfield is fabric on aluminium, 4.5 kg at £46.39, so any pad is a cover you carry in. BS EN 581-2 does not test removable upholstery or damp ageing, so storing the pad is your job. How the frame folds is in how to fold a sun lounger.

Rain, winter, and the words the listings use

Quick-drying, water-repellent, and weatherproof answer different questions. Straame limits its mesh to drying after light showers. SereneLife asks you to wipe the chair clean. Grand patio's weatherproof is a special-features word on a wheeled lounger at £149.75. This page does not treat that word as a cushion test. Pads sold with no chair are cushions. The £23.99 No Chair listing stayed out of this set so it would not be read as a lounger. A 1.5 cm sponge can take a shower and still turn sour if you bag it while it is damp. Textilene lets water through, so a light-shower line can be fair while you still get wet if you sit the rain out. Dry the chair before winter storage. Mesh can be wiped and kept under cover. A sun lounger cushion belongs indoors once it is dry, because moisture ageing sits outside EN 581-2.

When the mesh is the better buy

Choose textilene when you want the quicker-drying seat and a zero-gravity chair is enough. Straame has the larger UK review count here, 4.6 from 3,832, plus the light-shower bullet. Mosii is the cheaper pair, at 4.5 from 513, without that sentence. SereneLife costs and weighs more, and the UK comments in this sample are too few to treat the stars as a British verdict. All three tip you back, so a flat lie means a bed and the storage that comes with it. Choose a padded sun lounger when the file includes the pad and you will bring it in. KingCamp states the 1.5 cm layer. Mopaicot's reviews describe a similar thickness, still thin beside the photo. Lichfield and Amazon Basics have no cushion unless you add a cover you will store. ATORPOK and LSBIKE include a pad that UK reviewers struggle to keep on the frame. A 600D figure is the denier of a woven cloth such as Oxford polyester, a different material from textilene. Steel or aluminium is a separate question on the aluminium sun lounger pages. The lock and the stated load sit in the sun lounger buying guide.

Common questions

Will textilene feel hotter than a cushion?
Open PVC-coated mesh lets air through, so it often feels less clammy than a closed sponge. The coating can still feel hot after the chair has stood in full sun, and a 1.5 cm pad can feel softer while holding warmth. No listing here measures the difference. NHS advice still applies on either seat: you can burn in the UK under cloud, so use shade from 11am to 3pm, March to October, and at least SPF 30.
Can I leave a sun lounger cushion outside?
These pads are not tested waterproof covers. A shower can soak a thin sponge, and bagging it damp is how it starts to smell. Straame's quick-drying line is about mesh after light showers, not about the beds. Bring the cushion in, or leave it out only if you can dry it first. Elystra's point is the practical one: cushions last longer kept dry.
Which listings are sun lounger mesh?
Mosii, Straame, and SereneLife, each a textilene zero-gravity pair. On the 15 October 2026 check the pair prices are £49.99, £59.99, and £109.99. KingCamp, LSBIKE, AYDFUORT, Mopaicot, Amazon Basics, ATORPOK, and Lichfield are the fold-flat beds, with a pad only on some of them. A cushion sold with no chair is not a lounger in this set.
Does weatherproof on Grand patio cover a cushion?
On that wheeled lounger, listed at £149.75, weatherproof is a special-features word. It is not a test of a cushion, and it is not evidence the seat stays dry. Grand patio is also the wrong shape if you need to lie flat. Straame's quick-drying after light showers is a narrower mesh claim, and it does not transfer to a pad.
Is 600D the same as textilene?
600D is a denier weight for woven cloth such as Oxford polyester. Textilene, in the Sefton Meadows description, is polyester coated with PVC and heat-set into open mesh. A higher denier does not show the fabric will outlast that mesh, and neither word is a waterproof rating. Read the material line on the listing in front of you.
