Sauna heater buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You are about to order a small electric sauna stove from amazon.co.uk, with shelf prices from £170.44 to £297. Fit the cabin by cubic metres, then the supply, then the controls and stones printed on the page. This sauna heater buying guide follows that order for a 3–6 kW heater. The [3–6kW sauna heater comparison](/hub/steam-baths/3-6kw-sauna-heater) holds the ten listings. Products Compared did not lab-test these heaters. Figures are from the amazon.co.uk listings and public sizing notes, 19 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with cubic metres, not the number of people

Measure the inside of the hot room in metres and multiply length by width by height. A cabin 1.5 m long, 1.2 m wide and 2.1 m high is about 3.8 m³. Harvia’s UK power guide works at about 1 kW per cubic metre and then adds about 1.2 m³ for each square metre of glass, uninsulated stone or a similar cold surface. In this set only Misorat prints 2–4 m³ and both Mxmoonant pages print 5–9 m³. LADECNERHT’s “about 5 metres” is a length. Write your cubic metres before you sort by price. Which end of the band that number belongs to is on the 3 kW versus 6 kW page.

Internal control is the pattern in this price band

Almost every listing under £250 says the controls sit on the heater: a temperature switch, sometimes a time switch, sometimes only the words “internal control”. In this price band you should expect the knobs, or a small display, on the stove itself inside the hot room. That is a poor match if you wanted to start the session from the changing area and leave the stove alone. On the £297 Mxmoonant the UK review describes a panel where you set time and temperature and the heater switches off at the end. On the £269 Mxmoonant the title says digital and the bullets only say built-in time and temperature control. Misorat prints a range, 0–180 minutes. The DMETE, SOYWIM and MMHHHG pages say a time switch exists and give no minutes.

Stones and a plug are part of the price

A £170 title looks finished until you price the rocks and the electrician. Both Mxmoonant pages say the plug is absent and the stones are absent. The £297 model asks for 18–20 kg. The £269 model asks for 14–18 kg. LADECNERHT, at £242.99, is the only listing that states 6 kg of stones and a thermometer in the box, and its title still stops at 70 °C. None of these pages show a BS 1363 plug in the box. The two Mxmoonant notices say a licensed electrician should wire them. The other eight pages are silent on the plug, which is not a promise of a socket. Why a normal socket stops being an option is on the electrical supply page.

Walk away from a listing that contradicts itself

Several pages print two powers. Misorat’s title says 3 kW and 3.6 kW, and the colour field says 3 kW. MMHHHG’s title says 3.6 kW and the variant says 3 kW. The cheapest SOYWIM page, at £170.44, says 3.6 kW in the title, 3 kW in the colour name, and 3600 W in a field. Model number 1005003838901977 appears on the MMHHHG listing and on both SOYWIM listings. DMETE is the unreviewed page that states 3.6 kW in the title and the colour name and gives a package of about 46 × 30 × 20 cm. A contradiction is a reason to wait. You cannot size a circuit from a title that might be 3 kW or 3.6 kW.

Common questions

What should I measure before I look at kilowatts?
Measure the hot room in metres and multiply length by width by height. A glass door adds capacity on top of that volume. The number of people on the bench is not the measurement. Write the cubic metres down before you open a kilowatt filter on amazon.co.uk.
Do I add anything for a glass door?
Yes, if the door or a wall is uninsulated glass or a similar cold surface. The allowance is not one universal number. Harvia’s figure and Finnmark’s figure differ, so treat them as a range of extra cubic metres rather than a law. A cabin that looks small on the floor plan can move up a heater size once the door is counted.
Is an internal-control stove worse than a separate panel?
It is a different layout, not a failed one. In this price band the switches are on the heater, inside the hot room. Internal control is a poor fit when you want to set the session from outside. It is a reasonable fit when you are happy to set time and temperature at the stove and leave it.
Why is a £170 heater not the full cost?
The lowest rows leave out stones, and the Mxmoonant pages say so in the listing: 14–20 kg extra, and no plug. LADECNERHT is the page that includes 6 kg and a thermometer, at £242.99, with a stated ceiling of 70 °C. You also pay an electrician for a hard-wired supply. Add those lines before you treat the shelf price as the cost of a working sauna.
What if the title and the colour field disagree?
Treat the listing as unfinished. Misorat, MMHHHG and one SOYWIM page each print more than one power. A shared model number, 1005003838901977, appears on three of the cheap rows. Ask the seller for one data-plate wattage, or choose a page that already states one figure, such as the DMETE 3.6 kW colour name.
Which listings in this set actually state a room volume?
Misorat states 2–4 m³. Both Mxmoonant 6 kW pages state 5–9 m³. LADECNERHT states about 5 metres, which is not a volume. The Generic, DMETE, SOYWIM and MMHHHG pages state no cubic metres at all.
