Electric sauna heater buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You are about to pay for a stove for a home cabin, and the amazon.co.uk page in front of you may not be one product. A title can say 3–6 kW while a colour field says 4.5 kW, the stones are often a second parcel, and a 230 V line is not a BS 1363 plug. This electric sauna heater buying guide puts the checks in the order that stops a bad order: the room, the supply, one power, the control the maker names, then the stones and the manual. Prices for the eleven listings sit on the [230V sauna heater comparison](/hub/steam-baths/230v-sauna-heater). A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the room and the supply

The cabin comes before the brand. Harvia's published average is about 1 kW for each cubic metre of a well-insulated room, with a further allowance for glass, and that sum belongs on the room size page rather than in a price sort. A stove whose listing never states cubic metres cannot be matched to a room you have measured. In this set the two Mxmoonant 6 kW pages state 5–9 m³, and the HUUM Hive listing at £1,300 states 9–15 m³. The Anjur page at £172.22 does not state a band at all. Supply is the next field, and it is not the same as the voltage printed in a title. UK mains are nominally 230 V. A 13 A socket is about 2,990 W, which sits next to the roughly 3,000 W ceiling Which? gives for one socket. If the consumer unit cannot take a new circuit, the rest of the listing does not matter.

One power, one control, stones named

Read the kilowatt figure as a single number. The Anjur title says 3–6 kW and the colour field says 4.5 kW. The ZXXDSGHUS title says 4.5 kW and the bullets say 3/4.5/6 kW. The WDXQHY title says 8 kW and the bullets also list 3 kW, 6 kW and 9 kW. If you cannot point at one current, you cannot brief an electrician, and you should not pay. The control has to be the one the listing actually describes. The Mxmoonant WS-37-WJY at £297 says digital control, and the one UK review in the file describes setting a time and a temperature. Where this set mentions a weight, the stones are not in the box: 18–20 kg on the £297 Mxmoonant, 14–18 kg on the £269 Mxmoonant, and 20 kg on the Anjur and the template pages.

What a weak listing looks like

Three pages near £290 share one image and a dimension of 2.54 x 2.54 x 2.54 cm. That size cannot be a stove, and the same photo on the DHONGGY, ZXXDSGHUS, and WDXQHY pages means you are not comparing three bodies. DHONGGY at £298.17 at least keeps 9 kW in both the title and the bullets. The other two disagree with themselves on power. None has a review line in the file we saved. The Generic page that prints £6.99 for a 3.6 kW title is a different failure. The file records that price, and it is not a real entry price for a complete stove. The Alvinlite at £123.49 is the cheapest listing that does have a review line, 3.5 from four reviews. Another says a corner arrived damaged and there were no instructions while the buyer was trying to wire it.

What you still buy separately

Budget the stones, the cable, and a manual as part of the stove, even when the headline price looks finished. The HUUM listing at £1,300 says the heater comes without stones and without the main power cable, and it claims a five-year warranty in the bullets. Do not add dealer-page warranty or supply figures that are not on this amazon listing. Both Mxmoonant pages say the plug is not included and that a licensed electrician should do the wiring. If the manual is missing, stop before you ask anyone to connect the terminals. Mounting heights in the bullets are claims for that listing only. We did not measure these stoves, and we are not naming a cable size.

Common questions

What should you check before you buy a 230 V sauna heater?
Check the room volume, then whether the house can take a dedicated circuit, then that the listing states one kilowatt figure. After that, read the control, the stone weight, and whether a plug or a manual is actually included. Compare prices only among pages that survive those checks. The comparison table is the place for the eleven shelf prices in GBP.
Is a title that says 3–6 kW one product?
Not on the evidence in these files. The Anjur title says 3–6 kW and the colour field says 4.5 kW. Other pages put one power in the title and several powers in the bullets. Until the seller confirms a single data-plate figure, you do not know the current the circuit has to carry.
Do you need the controller the maker names?
You need the control that belongs to that heater, whether that is knobs on the case, an external panel, or the app the listing names. A loose thermostat from another brand is not a match. The HUUM bullets claim a Uku 3 console for iOS and Android. That claim is not a test of the app, and it is not a reason to fit a different controller.
Why do three listings near £290 look the same?
DHONGGY, ZXXDSGHUS, and WDXQHY share an image URL and a 2.54 cm dimension that cannot be the stove. Two of them also disagree on kilowatts between the title and the bullets. Treat them as one weak template, not as three separate bodies you have compared.
Is £6.99 a real price for a 3.6 kW stove?
The Generic listing prints £6.99. Record it as printed, and do not use it as the cheapest real stove in a buying decision. A complete heater in this set with a review line starts at the Alvinlite's £123.49, and that page has its own gaps, including a report of no instructions.
