Parkside cordless drill buying guide

Updated: October 2026

A Parkside cordless drill at about £39 and another at about £59 often differ because one is a bare body and the other is a kit. This Parkside cordless drill buying guide is the check before you pay: the box, the UK charger plug, the torque claim, and a faulty arrival. It does not rank the listings. The [Parkside cordless drill comparison](/hub/screws-and-accessories/parkside-cordless-drill) holds the eight amazon.co.uk rows, captured on 15 October 2026. We did not test them in a workshop. What has to be in the box

Start with the title. Four listings are bare bodies: the PABS 20-Li X20V at £39.00, the PSBSA 20-Li B2 at £54.00, the PBSA 12 X12V at £49.99 and the Performance PBSPA 12 D4 at £59.00. Three name a battery and a charger: the C3 at £59.27, the E6 at £56.28 and the PBSA 12 C2 at £59.00. A 73-piece kit at £84.99 names two batteries and a charger. A £39 body is not cheaper than a £56 kit until you price a genuine pack and a charger. This capture has no amazon.co.uk pack price. A Lidl page showed a 20 V 2 Ah pack and charger at £22.99 on 16 October 2026, which is a Lidl price, not an Amazon one. The X20V title mentions a case the components line does not list.

The charger plug is the mains part

The charger plugs into 230 V UK mains, and the plug should meet BS 1363. Electrical Safety First advises a fused UK three-pin plug. OPSS rejected other cordless-drill chargers on this point, including PSD 2511-0084 of 21 November 2025. That report is not a Parkside recall. UK reviewers report a non-UK plug on the C3 and a two-pin plug on the bare PBSA 12 and the C2. Do not rely on a loose adaptor. Ask the seller for a return, and stop if the pack swells, smells or smokes. Daily charging is on how to use a Parkside cordless drill.

Which battery family fits

X 20 V Team and X 12 V Team packs do not swap. A PAP 20 B3 manual limits that pack to X 20 V Team chargers. The 20 V drills here state a 13 mm chuck and 30 mm in wood. The 12 V drills state a 10 mm chuck and 25 mm in wood, or 19 mm on the Performance model. If you already own a pack, buy the matching bare body. If you own nothing, buy a kit. That choice is on Parkside 20V or 12V drill.

Read torque only as a claim

Stated torque runs from 20 Nm on the PSBSA spec line to 45 Nm on the E6. The bare X20V says 40 Nm. Those are claims, not a test. The PSBSA title says 20-Li, but the spec table says 18 V, an 18 mm chuck and 1800 rps. The C2 prints 28 Nm and 28 centimetre-kilograms. Ignore the watt field. For screws in timber, a 28 Nm claim and a 45 Nm claim both work if the clutch is set. Only the PSBSA title and a C3 bullet gesture at hammer action, and neither gives a blow rate. Masonry is on Parkside drill for brick.

If it is faulty

If the drill arrives dead, damaged or second-hand, section 22 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives 30 days to reject it, against the retailer. Amazon's returns window is a separate clock. UK reviews here mention a second-hand unit, a failure after about a month, and a stuck trigger. Those are single reports, not a rate. Test the drill and the charger.

Common questions

Does the Parkside drill include a battery and a charger?
It depends on the listing. In the 15 October 2026 capture, four of the eight are bare bodies. Three name a battery and a charger, and the 73-piece kit names two batteries and a charger. Read the title against the included-components line. The PABS 20-Li X20V title mentions a transport case that the components line does not list.
Will a 12 V pack fit an X 20 V drill?
No. X 20 V Team and X 12 V Team packs do not swap. A 12 V pack will not run a 20 V drill, and a 20 V pack will not run a 12 V drill. A PAP 20 B3 manual limits that 20 V pack to X 20 V Team chargers. Pick one family, then buy the body or the kit that matches it.
Is a two-pin charger acceptable with an adaptor?
A UK charger should have a fused BS 1363 plug. Electrical Safety First warns that a plug which does not seat properly can overheat. If yours is two-pin, ask the seller for a replacement or a return. Do not rely on a loose adaptor for regular charging, and stop if the pack swells, smells or smokes.
Which torque figure should I trust when the spec table conflicts?
Treat every figure as a claim. Where the title and the spec table disagree, as on the PSBSA, or two units appear together, as on the C2 with 28 Nm and 28 centimetre-kilograms, ask the seller or pick a row with one clean line. For ordinary screws in timber, 28 Nm and 40 Nm are both workable once the clutch is set. The watt field does not rank them.
How long do I have to reject a faulty drill?
Section 22 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives 30 days to reject faulty goods, starting the day after delivery and ownership. The right is against the retailer. Amazon's returns window is a separate clock, so do not merge the two. Contact the seller at once and keep the packaging. A drill that will not run, or a charger with the wrong plug, is a reason to use that right.
Should I buy the £84.99 73-piece kit for the bits?
Only if you want two batteries and a bit set in one order, and you accept thin evidence. The kit has 5.0 from two ratings and no review text. The listed weight of 315 g is not plausible for a drill with two batteries. Price one pack and a charger before you treat the kit as the only way to start.
