What you are buying

A double grinder in a UK shed is a bench grinder: one mains motor, two accessories, bolted to a bench. You deburr metal, rough a bevel, or clean rust, then finish a real edge on a stone. It is not a wet stone for an edge that must stay cool. Choose the accessory pair first. The TC-BG 150 and the TC-BG 200 L ship K36 and K60. The TC-BG 150 B ships K36 and a wire brush. Wheel pair before watts

K36 cuts fast and leaves a coarse scratch. K60 is finer and still not a hone. Rough on K36, tidy on K60, then hone if the edge must cut cleanly. A wire brush removes rust, paint, and scale. It does not cut a bevel. Grey stock wheels are not silicon carbide. Master Abrasives describes aluminium oxide for ferrous metals and silicon carbide for cast iron and non-ferrous work, to EN 12413. Carbide tips need that other abrasive.

150 mm or 200 mm

All three state 2,980 rpm and none has a speed dial, so a larger wheel is faster at the rim. Arithmetic gives about 23 m/s on 150 mm and about 31 m/s on 200 mm. That is not a lab reading. Never fit a slower-marked wheel. The TC-BG 150 is 5.89 kg at about £37.30. The TC-BG 150 B is 7.9 kg at about £64.95. The TC-BG 200 L is 12.1 kg on Amazon and 11.66 kg on Einhell's page, at about £85.00. Do not average those weights. Who should leave each one is on the best bench grinder page.

The wattage on the box

Amazon prints 150 W, 400 W, and 350 W S6. Those are not the same kind of watt. Einhell marks the 200 L as S2 400 W for 30 minutes, and Halfords prints 185 W continuous beside it. Service sheets show 110 W with S6 150 W at 15 percent for the TC-BG 150, 185 W with S6 350 W at 15 percent for the TC-BG 150 B, and 185 W with S2 400 W for 30 minutes for the 200 L. Fifteen percent S6 is a short on-time. Thirty minutes S2 is not an all-afternoon rating. The TC-BG 150's bare 150 W has no suffix on Amazon. Stop when the housing is hot.

What to check before you plug it in

Check the plug, the guards, the rests, and the shaft before you switch on. UK mains are 230 V and the plug should be BS 1363. The TC-BG 150 states 230 V and the 200 L states 230 V AC. The TC-BG 150 B Amazon block does not; Einhell Service states 220–240 V. Spark windows are not eye protection to BS EN 166. HSG17 wants a stout bench and a rest adjusted only when the machine is isolated. Rubber feet are not that anchor. The TC-BG 150 service sheet says the mount is 12.7 mm. Common questions

Is 150 mm enough for a shed, or do I need 200 mm?
A 150 mm wheel is enough for light deburring on a small bench. The TC-BG 150 weighs 5.89 kg. Choose 200 mm when you can bolt down about 12 kg and you want the larger stones and the light on the TC-BG 200 L. Both are listed at 2,980 rpm, so the rim is faster on 200 mm. That is arithmetic, not a lab test.
What do K36 and K60 actually change?
K36 removes metal quickly and leaves a coarse scratch. K60 is finer and will not hone a chisel. The TC-BG 150 and the TC-BG 200 L include both. The TC-BG 150 B includes K36 and a wire brush, so that box has no finer stone. A cutting edge still needs a separate hone after either grit.
Why does one page say 150 W and another say 400 W?
They are different statements. Amazon's 150 W on the TC-BG 150 has no duty suffix. The service sheet lists 110 W continuous and S6 150 W at 15 percent. The 400 W on the TC-BG 200 L is S2 for 30 minutes. The 350 W on the TC-BG 150 B is S6 at 15 percent, with 185 W continuous on the service sheet.
Can I trust a wattage with no S2 or S6 next to it?
Only as an incomplete line. The TC-BG 150 Amazon page prints 150 W and does not say S2 or S6. The service sheet does. A bare watt is not continuous power. Look up article 4412632, 4412633, or 4412634 before you compare it with a page that prints the suffix.
What bore do I order a spare wheel in?
Measure the shaft. The TC-BG 150 service sheet states a 12.7 mm mount. For the TC-BG 200 L the sources disagree: Amazon's size line is 200 mm by 16 mm, Toolstation prints 32 mm, and Einhell Service prints a 16 mm mount. A bush still has to match the shaft you measured.
