Diamond cup wheel buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

You have a 115 mm angle grinder and a concrete lip that catches a door, and an amazon.co.uk search mixes cutting discs with cups. Several cups also disagree with themselves about the hole or the speed. This diamond cup wheel buying guide is the order of checks to run before a brand name matters. The [diamond cup wheel comparison](/hub/sanders/diamond-cup-wheel) holds the listing table. Match diameter, bore and one maximum speed, then decide whether grit and pattern are worth paying for. Peter F. read the kept amazon.co.uk listings on 19 October 2026. There was no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Match the cup to the grinder

The cup needs the same nominal diameter as the grinder. In this set that is 100 mm, 115 mm or 125 mm, and the three sizes do not share a guard. A 115 mm machine is what the UK reviews describe: a threshold, a mortar line, a single high spot. Bujingyun's packs are 100 mm. QWORK and worksky are 125 mm. A 4 inch cup is about 102 mm, so it is the wrong wheel for a 115 mm guard. Stay with a 115 mm cup if that is the guard.

The hole is 22.23 mm

Hand-held grinders in the oSa marking note for EN 13236 are marked with a 22.23 mm bore. A listing that prints 22 mm is a different claim. Most of the 115 mm cups here state 22.23 mm: SHDIATOOL, both BRSCHNITT cups, HIGHDRIL, WORKPRO, KURSTOL and Yikuneng. QWORK states 22.23 mm, and reviews still include a collar that needed a washer. worksky states no bore. We do not claim a BS EN 13236 mark on any of these ASINs. You should see bore and maximum speed on the steel.

One maximum speed, written on the wheel

The figure that matters is the maximum rpm on the wheel, and it has to be at least the no-load speed of your grinder. FEPA's class for diamond dish cups is 80 m/s. A 115 mm cup at 13,200 rpm sits near that figure. WORKPRO states 13,300 rpm as a single maximum. SHDIATOOL, the BRSCHNITT pair and KURSTOL state 13,200 rpm, and SHDIATOOL's bullets also mention a recommended 8,000 rpm. HIGHDRIL, at £16.99, swaps 8,000 rpm and 13,200 rpm between the field and the bullets. Yikuneng's field says 13,200 rpm while the bullets also print 15,000 rpm. QWORK and both Bujingyun packs list no maximum rpm. If the listing disagrees with itself, the mark on the steel is the one you use, and if that mark is below your grinder you send the cup back.

Grit number and pattern

Number 40, or 40/50, is coarse stock removal on SHDIATOOL, both BRSCHNITT cups, HIGHDRIL, WORKPRO, KURSTOL, Yikuneng and QWORK. Bujingyun is listed as 60, which is finer than 40 and sits on a 100 mm cup. Pattern is a separate choice. A turbo row is sold as a smoother-looking rim. A double row is two rings of segments. WORKPRO describes its double row as 18 segments for aggressive preparation. Outside guides disagree on which pattern is more aggressive, and they price in dollars, so they are not a UK ranking. Which kept cup is which is on the turbo row versus double row page.

What £8 to £19 buys here

Shelf prices on 19 October 2026 run from about £8 to £19. QWORK is £7.98, the Bujingyun packs are £8.88 and £12.88, and Yikuneng is £13.99. WORKPRO is £14.99, the BRSCHNITT cups are £15.99 and £16.99, HIGHDRIL and KURSTOL are £16.99, and SHDIATOOL and worksky are £18.99. Paying £18.99 rather than £7.98 buys a stated 115 mm fit and SHDIATOOL's large review file, not a measured life in square metres. The two Bujingyun prices share one 4.5 from 264 line, so they are pack sizes, not two samples. Mounting is in how to use a diamond cup wheel. A floor rather than one lip is the diamond cup wheel for a concrete floor page.

Common questions

What diameter matches a 115 mm grinder?
A 115 mm cup. In this set that is SHDIATOOL, both BRSCHNITT cups, HIGHDRIL, WORKPRO, KURSTOL and Yikuneng. Bujingyun is 100 mm. QWORK and worksky are 125 mm. A 4 inch cup is about 102 mm, so it does not stand in for a 115 mm guard. Match the guard first, then compare price and review count.
Is 22 mm the same as 22.23 mm?
The bore to look for on a hand-held grinder is 22.23 mm, the figure in the oSa marking note. Bujingyun lists 22 mm, and reviews on those packs describe a hole nearer 20 mm or a nut that will not seat. Treat a rounded 22 mm as a different claim, and check the cup against your spindle before you grind.
Why do some listings say Fine when the number is 40?
The Fine tag is Amazon's grit-type field, and on these cups it sits beside a coarse number. Grit 40 or 40/50 is sold for taking concrete and masonry down. If the chip and the number disagree, the grit number describes the work. A Fine chip does not turn a 40-grit cup into a polishing wheel.
Should I pay more than £19 in this set?
The shelf prices we kept stop at £18.99, for SHDIATOOL and for worksky. Extra money inside the £8 to £19 band pays for a stated bore, one maximum rpm and a larger review file. It is not a lab ranking, and it does not buy a proven square-metre life.
How do I know the wheel is marked to BS EN 13236?
Look at the wheel. BS EN 13236:2019 is the superabrasive safety standard, and a marked wheel should show dimensions, bore and maximum speed. These amazon.co.uk listings do not prove that mark for each ASIN. If the cup arrives without a speed and a bore on the steel, stop and check it against your grinder before you fit it.
