Delta sander buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

A round pad will not sit in the internal corner of a skirting run. This delta sander buying guide puts the stroke and the dust path ahead of the brand name. The eight amazon.co.uk listings stay on the [delta sander comparison](/hub/sanders/delta-sander). Peter F. read the UK listings and public guidance, and did not run a lab test. Start with corners and trim, not star ratings

A delta sander, also sold as a detail sander or a mouse sander, uses a triangular pad so the tip reaches an internal corner a round disc cannot. B&Q’s sander guide treats that corner role as the reason to own one. A tabletop or a door face is the wrong primary job for the triangle. When a round pad is enough is on delta sander vs orbital sander. Draper’s Storm Force 69039 is a tri-base at £28.40. Metabo’s FMS 200 at £38.99 is a multi-sander. MAXXT’s title claims a triangle and a 3 mm orbit, while the components line also says random orbital. DOVAMAN’s 4.3 from 14 and MAXXT’s 4.3 from 12 are thin samples. Metabo’s 4.5 from 411 still does not state the stroke.

Stroke, OPM and speed

The stroke is how far the pad moves. Oscillations per minute are how often it moves. Do not convert one into the other. Einhell’s TC-DS 20 E states a 2 mm circuit and 12,000–22,000 rpm. MAXXT claims a 3 mm orbit and six speeds on a 350 W motor. DEKOPRO corded says 13,000 rpm. DOVAMAN states 12,000 rpm. Bosch and Metabo do not state a stroke, so we do not invent one. Variable speed helps on veneer and filler. Watts are a poor first filter: Draper 280 W at £28.40, Einhell 200 W at £33.95 with a 36 mm adapter, DOVAMAN 130 W at £35.12.

Dust path and indoor work

Einhell lists a 36 mm adapter, the clearest hose figure in this set. Metabo ships a cartridge, and reviewers mention an extractor attachment. MAXXT uses vacuum wording. DEKOPRO corded reviews say the collector misses fine dust. DOVAMAN’s canister is handy in a garage. None of those boxes meets wood-dust limits on its own. HSE guidance in WD7, and the construction wood-dust page, expect on-tool extraction, holes that line up, and respiratory protection at assigned protection factor 20 for much indoor sanding. Do not dry-sweep. Pressure and grit order sit on how to use a detail sander.

Corded weight and the plug

Weights run from Einhell at 840 g and DOVAMAN at 948 g, through Bosch at about 1 kg and Metabo at 1.2 kg, to DEKOPRO corded at 1.61 kg and MAXXT at 2.24 kg. The MAXXT will tire a wrist on overhead architrave. Einhell is the lighter corded body for a long skirting run. The only cordless tool is the DEKOPRO 20 V kit at £39.99, with a 2.0 Ah battery and a 1.5 kg item weight. Runtime is not stated. You want a BS 1363 plug. Einhell says 220 V, Bosch 240 V, and others 230 V. Open the photos. Regulation 35 expects a BS 1363 plug on household flex.

Sheets and pad rotation

Hook-and-loop is the usual fixing, and the box is a starter pack. DEKOPRO corded includes fifteen sheets. DOVAMAN includes twelve, with P80 and P180 named. Einhell includes nine. MAXXT includes ten. Draper includes three, at 60, 80 and 120, which will not finish a room. Bosch and Metabo do not list abrasives, so budget sheets on day one. Einhell’s pad has three positions. Bosch’s PDA 180 turns tool-free, part of the £80.01 price against about £34. MAXXT does not confirm mesh sheets.

Common questions

What stroke or OPM should I look for?
Look for a stated stroke in millimetres and a speed range, and do not treat watts as a substitute. Einhell states a 2 mm circuit and 12,000–22,000 rpm. MAXXT claims 3 mm with six speeds. Bosch and Metabo do not state a stroke. Roughly 2–3 mm, with a speed you can lower on veneer or filler, is the useful pattern. If the listing is silent, leave the orbit unknown.
Is a dust box enough indoors?
A built-in box is not enough for indoor wood sanding on its own. HSE guidance expects extraction and suitable respiratory protection where dust is not controlled, and it warns against dry sweeping. DEKOPRO reviewers say the collector misses fine dust. Add a mask when you sand trim in a lived-in room.
What vacuum hose size fits a detail sander?
Only buy against a diameter the listing states. Einhell’s TC-DS 20 E names a 36 mm adapter. Metabo refers to a cartridge and, in reviews, an extractor attachment, without a hose size in our capture. MAXXT uses vacuum wording without a millimetre figure.
Should I buy cordless or mains for one room of skirting?
Mains is the safer plan for a whole room, because no listing states how many minutes a 2.0 Ah pack lasts. The DEKOPRO 20 V kit at £39.99 suits short snagging without a trailing lead. A corded Einhell, Metabo or Bosch will not stop for a charge, provided you have a socket and a BS 1363 plug.
Are sanding sheets interchangeable between brands?
Not reliably. The hole pattern has to match the dust ports, or extraction falls away. Bosch and Metabo owners often stay with that brand’s sheets. A fifteen-sheet DEKOPRO pack starts a job and then runs out. Buy a matching refill, and do not assume a 150 mm mesh disc will clip onto a mouse pad.
