Makita jigsaw buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

You searched for a Makita jigsaw on amazon.co.uk and the results mixed a corded Makita with bodies that name the brand because they want an 18 V pack. Twelve listings sit in this comparison. Two are Makita. The other ten are third-party bodies, and one JOJOCY page prints Not Brand Makita. This buying guide is the order to use before you sort by stars or by a wattage row. The [Makita jigsaw comparison](/hub/power-saws/makita-jigsaw) holds the table, with prices from the 20 October 2026 amazon.co.uk capture. Peter F. did not lab-test the saws. Genuine Makita or a compatible body

The brand field matters more than the title, because every title contains the word Makita. B01F2F5EPS is the M4301. B004MNDUDA is the 4329/1. Every other ASIN is a third-party body that names Makita 18 V battery codes. A copy can still cut a curve in ply. It is not a Makita. JOJOCY’s B0FJM6D9LB states Not Brand Makita. KIESBOHR’s CSJ001 and the ConBlom body both say they do not fit G-series batteries. The M4301 is £42.99 and arrives complete. The KIESBOHR is £69.99 and arrives bare, with two blades. Tiers are on the copy or genuine Makita jigsaw page.

A household socket, a 110 V site lead, or an LXT pack

The M4301 is a 230 V tool for a normal UK socket, listed at 450 W. You do not buy a battery for it. The 4329/1 is also corded and listed at 450 W, but it is 110 V. On a house ring it will not run unless you already have a site supply, a different purchase from the £73.00 saw. Every cordless listing here is bare, from the Fexrror at £25.49 to the KIESBOHR at £69.99, and expects a Makita 18 V pack and charger. If you would have to buy a 5 Ah pack, that pack can cost more than the M4301.

Depth and orbital action for the cut you are making

Orbital, or pendulum, action swings the blade forward as well as up and down. It speeds a rough cut and lifts fibres on a visible face. The M4301 gives three orbital settings plus straight cutting. A UK review says pendulum mode tears the edges, while straight cutting stays tidier. Chip-out is on the Makita jigsaw for laminate page. Copy bullets often say about 80 mm in wood. That is not the 135 mm Makita UK publishes for the DJV182. The 4329/1 bullets cap that saw at 65 mm in wood and 6 mm in steel, with bayonet blades. An 18 mm shelf is inside every saw here.

Read the reviews, not the wattage row

Cordless titles here claim 400 W, 420 W, 500 W, 720 W and 800 W. The M4301’s 450 W is a corded mains rating beside a stated voltage. The KIESBOHR attribute row prints 72 W, and FormiPow’s row prints 200 W. The M4301 is 4.6 from 456 reviews and the KIESBOHR is 4.4 from 168. The £25.49 Fexrror carries the best value mark because of price, not because two five-star reviews have proved the clamp. One name per job is on the best Makita jigsaw page.

When to step up to a DJV182

Makita UK’s DJV182 is the professional 18 V LXT jigsaw, and it is not one of these twelve ASINs. The product page gives 135 mm in wood, a 26 mm stroke, and 7.0 m/s² in boards. This capture has no DJV182 shop price. Step up when you need an anti-splinter guard, a guide-rail adapter, or a tool Makita supports. Stay with the M4301 on a 230 V plug, or with a third-party body if you already own LXT packs. BS EN 62841-2-11 covers this class of saw. It does not turn a copy into a Makita.

Common questions

Is this listing a real Makita?
Only if the brand field says Makita. In this capture that is the M4301 at £42.99 and the 110 V 4329/1 at £73.00. The other ten name another brand and then list Makita battery codes. A title that starts for Makita 18 V is describing the pack, not the manufacturer. JOJOCY even prints Not Brand Makita. If you need Makita parts and a Makita warranty conversation, those two corded saws are the only rows that qualify.
Do I need a battery for the cordless ones?
Yes. Every cordless title here is a bare body. The price, from £25.49 to £69.99, does not include a pack or a charger. The saw is only a bargain if a BL1830, BL1850B or similar pack is already on charge. If you would have to buy the battery as well, compare that total with the M4301 at £42.99, which runs from a normal socket and needs no pack.
Should I buy the M4301 or a copy if I already own LXT?
Own the packs and a copy can make sense for short cut-outs, with the KIESBOHR’s 168 reviews as the strongest evidence and the cheaper bodies as a gamble. You give up Makita warranty and any published vibration figure. If the cuts are occasional and you would rather not wear a battery, the M4301 is still the simpler tool. It does not use those packs. It uses the mains.
Can I run any of these from a normal UK socket?
The M4301 can. It is listed at 230 V. The 4329/1 cannot, because it is 110 V and expects a site supply. The cordless bodies use a Makita-style 18 V pack, and the charger is what plugs into the wall. Check the charger you already own is a UK model. Do not buy the 4329/1 for a kitchen ring and hope an adapter will fix the voltage.
Which copy has enough UK reviews?
The KIESBOHR CSJ001, at 4.4 from 168 reviews, is the only copy you can weigh against the M4301’s 456. A luolety at 4.0 from 43 is the next step down, without a clear praise theme in our notes. Listings at 5.0 from one or two reviews, including the £25.49 Fexrror, say almost nothing about the second month. Nine reviews at 3.4, on the other luolety, are more useful, because the comments already say the build is far from an original.
