Bosch 12V or 18V jigsaw

Updated: 21 October 2026

You already own a row of blue batteries, or you are about to buy a jigsaw and a charger you do not need. A Bosch 12V or 18V jigsaw is the right body only when the pack on the shelf is the one the saw accepts, and the depth matches the timber. If you own neither platform, the corded 650 W GST can be the smaller purchase. The [Bosch professional jigsaw comparison](/hub/power-saws/bosch-professional-jigsaw) holds the shelf prices. Products Compared used Bosch’s UK pages, those listings and the review notes, not a lab, on 19 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Three cordless classes and one lead

Bosch’s UK pages split this set into depths you can say out loud. The GST 12V-70 is 70 mm in wood, 3 mm in aluminium, about 1.5 kg and 1,500–2,800 strokes per minute. The GST 18V-95 B is 95 mm in wood, 15 mm in aluminium, a 20 mm stroke and about 1.6 kg without a battery. The GST 18V-125 is 125 mm in wood, a 26 mm stroke, brushless. Both 12 V titles state 70 mm. The 95 B and the 125s leave wood depth blank on amazon.co.uk, so Bosch’s figure is the manufacturer claim. Every cordless scope omits the battery and the charger. A 70 mm saw on the right platform still stops at 70 mm. Barrel against bow stays on bow handle or barrel grip.

When the GST 12V-70 is the right body

Choose the 12 V saw for kitchen panels, scribe work and openings in units that are already installed. The carton is £106.99, 4.5 from 1,998 reviews, excluding batteries. The L-BOXX listing is £128.25, 4.6 from 2,187 reviews, with SDS blade change stated and an LED. Same 70 mm claim. One reviewer describes a day of small jobs on a 3 Ah pack. The carton item type still says a 10.8 V bare unit. An 18 V pack does not belong on this saw. Skip it past 70 mm. The checks are the buying guide.

When to move to 18 V

Move up when the cut is deeper, or when the batteries on the van are already 18 V. The GST 18V-95 B at £114.62 is the inexpensive way onto that platform if 95 mm is enough. Amazon states brushless and four orbital stages, and it does not state the millimetres or a bevel. It is 4.6 from 101 reviews, and still body only. The cardboard GST 18V-125 B is £179.98 and the L-BOXX bow-handle listing is £223.32, sharing 4.7 from 204 reviews. The barrel-grip S in an L-BOXX is £207.12 and 4.8 from 331. The 18 V-125 manual recommends at least a 4.0 Ah pack.

When the plug wins

If you own no Bosch packs, add a battery and a charger to every cordless price before you call it cheaper. The GST 90 BE at £129.31 is a 650 W corded saw with a bow handle, a stated bevel and a case. That price sits beside the 12 V L-BOXX at £128.25 and the 95 B at £114.62, both of which still need a pack. The page does not name a BS 1363 plug, so check it on arrival. The GST 90 E at £158.50 states 90 mm in wood, and its angle cell says 90 degrees, so the bevel on the BE is unconfirmed on the E. Who should leave the £106.99 carton alone is on the best pick page.

Common questions

Is 12 V enough for a kitchen?
For panels, scribe cuts and unit openings, reviewers treat the GST 12V-70 as the right size, and the title states 70 mm in wood. Bosch also states 3 mm in aluminium and about 1.5 kg. It is the wrong body for thick timber, and the reviews say there is no dust blower. You still need a 12 V or 10.8 V pack. The carton is £106.99 and the L-BOXX is £128.25, and neither includes that pack.
What do I gain at 18 V?
You gain the packs you may already own, and the deeper classes Bosch states: 95 mm on the GST 18V-95 B and 125 mm with a 26 mm stroke on the GST 18V-125. The 125 manual points at a pack of at least 4.0 Ah. The listings here also add orbital stages and a dust nozzle. You do not gain a battery in the box, and the small wattage cells on the Amazon tables are the wrong figure to compare.
Where does the GST 18V-95 B sit?
It sits between the 12 V-70 and the 125. Bosch UK states 95 mm in wood, 15 mm in aluminium, a 20 mm stroke and about 1.6 kg without a battery. On amazon.co.uk it is £114.62, 4.6 from 101 reviews, brushless, with four orbital stages and no battery. Amazon does not print the 95 mm figure. Buy it when your packs are 18 V and 95 mm covers the work. Step up to a 125 when it does not.
Do 10.8 V batteries fit the 12 V saw?
Bosch’s 12 V and 10.8 V packs are one voltage class, which is why the carton item type still says 10.8 V while the title says 12 V. That is the platform the GST 12V-70 belongs to. An 18 V pack is a different system. Confirm the battery you own against the current 12 V range before you rely on an older charger. A 125 B reviewer found that a charger they already had would not run that saw.
Is corded cheaper once batteries are counted?
It often is, if you own no packs. The GST 90 BE is £129.31 with the lead included. The 12 V carton is £106.99 and the 95 B is £114.62 before a battery and a charger, and this comparison has no pack price to add. If you already own the right packs, the body-only price is the real price. Check the plug on the corded saw, because a BS 1363 plug is not stated.
