Bosch cordless jigsaw for worktops

Updated: 21 October 2026

A laminate worktop chips when the teeth lift the decorative face on the up-stroke. You can keep the face if the pendulum is at 0, the blade cuts on the down-stroke, the matching splinter guard is in the shoe, and the waste is supported. This page is that one job: a laminate or wood worktop, or a sink or hob cut-out. Which body to buy, and the shelf prices, are on the [Bosch cordless jigsaw comparison](/hub/power-saws/bosch-cordless-jigsaw). Why the top face chips

A standard blade cuts on the up-stroke, so the teeth pull the laminate off the chipboard. Orbital action helps thick softwood and marks a thin decorative layer. Bosch’s guide puts pendulum at 0, seats a guard that touches the surface, and tapes the face. T101BRF is the reverse-tooth blade, recommended up to 30 mm. A retailer line of 45 mm is not that figure. The T 144 D and T 111 C blades in these scopes are not that down-cut. Pendulum 0 and the down-cut have to be used together.

The sink or hob cut-out

Mark inside the sink or hob outline so the rim covers the kerf. Drill starter holes in the waste, saw three sides, and support the offcut before the last side breaks. An unsupported offcut hinges and tears the taped face. Wait until the blade stops before you lift. Seal every raw chipboard edge before the sink goes in. The core wicks the first leak, and the jigsaw does not do that sealing. The battery-off order is on how to use a Bosch cordless jigsaw.

Which of these Bosch saws the listing actually points at a worktop

UniversalSaw order 0603011100 is the listing whose bullets name wooden worktops and parquet, at 100 mm with four pendulum steps. One UK review cut a worktop. That is not a test. The Amazon Edition does not print a wood depth in the captured bullets. The EasySaw has no pendulum step to set to 0. A 140 mm AdvancedSaw depth does not stop the chip. Leave pendulum at 0 for laminate. The pack split is on Bosch green vs Professional cordless jigsaw.

When not to use the jigsaw

The long straight joint is a guided circular-saw cut. A jigsaw wanders over 600 mm. Keep it for the sink, the hob, and curves a circular saw cannot close. Quartz, granite, and loaded timber are a stop. The body choice, once the cut is a jigsaw cut, is on best Bosch cordless jigsaw.

Common questions

Should pendulum be on for a laminate worktop?
No. Set pendulum to 0. Orbital action lifts the laminate on the up-stroke, and tape and a guard will not fully cancel a high step. Bosch’s clean-cutting guidance uses 0 for faces you will see, including thin sheet and shelves around 20–30 mm. The EasySaw has no pendulum step in the Bosch scope, so you cannot set 0. A higher step is for thicker wood whose face will be hidden or planed, not for the decorative top.
Which Bosch blade is the down-cut, and what thickness does Bosch print?
The reverse-tooth blade Bosch sells as T101BRF cuts on the down-stroke. Bosch’s UK page recommends it up to 30 mm. Do not replace that with a retailer line of 45 mm. The T 144 D and T 111 C blades named in these cordless scopes are not that reverse-tooth blade. Buy the down-cut separately if the face has to stay intact, and fit it with the battery off.
Which anti-splinter part fits which of these saws?
Part 2 607 010 079 is the guard Bosch lists for the EasySaw 18V-70, the UniversalSaw 18V-100, and the AdvancedSaw 18V-140. Part 2 601 016 096 is a different clip, and it is the number on the GST 18V-125 S scope. They are not interchangeable. The EasySaw carton in this set does not name a guard at all. If the clip will not seat, it is the wrong part, not a tight new guard.
Do you cut the decorative face up or down?
With a reverse-tooth blade, the clean cut is on the down-stroke, so the decorative face goes up, against the shoe, with tape on that face. An ordinary up-cut blade does the opposite: the clean face is the underside, which is useless if the top is what people see. Confirm the tooth direction before you commit the board. The shoe still has to stay flat either way.
How do you start a sink cut-out and stop the offcut tearing the face?
Drill starter holes inside the waste at the corners, cut three sides, and support the offcut before the last side breaks through. A template or a line set inside the sink outline leaves the rim to cover the kerf. Let the blade stop before you lift. An unsupported offcut hinges and pulls a chip out of the tape line. Seal the raw chipboard before the sink is fitted, or the core swells from the first splash.
When is a jigsaw the wrong saw for the worktop?
Use a guided circular saw for the long straight joint. Use a specialist for quartz and other stone. Stop if the timber is structural or you cannot clamp the board. The jigsaw remains the tool for the internal cut-out and for curves a circular saw cannot close. A 140 mm depth claim does not make a stone top, or a 2 m scribe joint, into a jigsaw job.
