Best air body saw for thin panels

Updated: 21 October 2026

You are choosing one pneumatic saw from five amazon.co.uk listings, and the highest star line is not the one with a thickness on the page. The best air body saw in this set states a thickness you will not exceed, backed by UK review text you can read. Price, air figures and a quick-release blade then decide who should skip it. The five tools, captured on 20 October 2026, are on the [body saw comparison](/hub/power-saws/body-saw). We did not run a lab. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What best means in this set

Stars run from 3.5 to 4.5. By stars alone the WorkPad WP01117 leads, at 4.5 from 18 and about £48.99, with no UK review text and no millimetre. That is not a thickness. Draper’s 70833 page prints 1.2 mm, 90 psi, 2.5 cfm and 10,000 strokes. Toolstation prints 8.0 cfm for the same manufacturer ID. The maker page is 2.5 cfm, and the manual declares 15 m/s². A low-vibration bullet does not survive a UK review that calls the saw bouncy. Ordinary saws here are under £50.

The pick when the page must state 1.2 mm

The top pick is the Draper 70833 at about £34.95: mild steel to 1.2 mm, for exhausts, silencers and panels, 4.2 from 63 reviews, 640 g, and a pneumatic power cell. The blade is a screw, not a quick release. UK reviews mention vibration, exhaust oil and a glove-snagging trigger catch. Amazon leaves CFM blank and prints 4500 RPM. Draper’s page states 90 psi and 2.5 cfm. The manual’s 92 dB(A) and 15 m/s² are a declaration. The figures are on the air body saw buying guide.

Blue Spot Tools Bluespot 07948

The pick when the bullets list psi, CFM and the inlet

Best value is the Bluespot 07948 at about £20.46: 16 gauge (1.29 mm), 90 psi, 4 CFM, a 10 mm stroke and a 1/4 inch BSP inlet on the bullets. No other listing here puts capacity, pressure, flow and inlet together. Stars are 4.3 from 13, and two of three UK texts describe stalling. The power cell says corded electric. The title says air. Take this for the printed air block. Take the Draper for 63 reviews and 1.2 mm.

Who should skip the other three

Skip the WP01117 as a star winner: ten blades, 85 litres a minute, no millimetre, and the word jigsaw on an air saw. Skip the WP01118 unless you want the five files. Same £48.99, 3.5 from 14, a reported failure after about 10 minutes, a loud exhaust, no quick release and a 96 dBA bullet. Still no thickness. Skip Orientools for seat rails and logs. At about £23.99 it states 1.6 mm steel or 2 mm aluminium and 4.0 from 77. A UK review cut a van side, then snapped a blade on seat rails. No CFM on this UK listing. No compressor means skip all five.

Common questions

Which of these five should I buy if I want a stated thickness and UK reviews?
Buy the Draper 70833 at about £34.95 when you want mild steel stated at 1.2 mm and the largest review file, 4.2 from 63. You are accepting a screw-clamped blade and an Amazon page that does not print CFM. The maker page states 2.5 cfm at 90 psi. If those missing Amazon air figures are unacceptable, the Bluespot 07948 is the other listing that states a thickness, at 1.29 mm, with a much shorter UK file.
Is the cheapest saw the best value?
The Bluespot 07948 at about £20.46 is the best value when you want gauge, psi, CFM and a 1/4 inch BSP inlet on the bullets you are ordering from. It is not the best value if two of the three UK texts, which describe stalling and very little power, are enough to put you off. Thirteen reviews are a thin sample next to the Draper’s 63.
Does 4.5 stars make the WorkPad the top pick?
No. The WorkPad WP01117 is 4.5 from 18 reviews at about £48.99, with 9,000 bpm and 85 litres a minute, and with no millimetre claim and no UK review text. Stars without a thickness and without a UK job to read do not beat a 4.2 from 63 that states 1.2 mm. The word jigsaw in that title does not make it a woodworking saw.
Should I pay £48.99 for the file set?
Only if you want the five files and you accept the WorkPad WP01118’s 3.5 from 14 reviews. One UK review reports a failure after about 10 minutes, a loud exhaust and no quick release. The noise bullet says 96 dBA. The same money does not buy a stated thickness. If you only needed the saw, the file set is not the reason to step up from the Draper or the Bluespot.
Is Orientools fine for a van conversion panel, or for seat rails and logs?
A UK review did cut a camper-van side, which sits inside a thin-sheet story and inside the 1.6 mm steel or 2 mm aluminium bullet. Seat rails snapped a blade in that same review, and another buyer returned the saw for branches and logs because the blade was short. The low-vibration bullet conflicts with reviews that call it bouncy. Use it for the panel. Do not use it for the rails or the firewood.
