Camping gas barbecue price UK: what you really pay

Camping gas barbecue price UK from £34.99 to £322.01 on twelve amazon.co.uk listings, and where a low shelf price still leaves the cartridge out.

A camping gas barbecue price in the UK can look like a simple number until you realise that the fuel may not be in the box. In the twelve amazon.co.uk listings reviewed on 15 October 2026, shelf prices ran from £34.99 to £322.01. The useful budget is therefore not just the grill price: it is the grill, the correct cartridge or cylinder, and any connection the listing does not clearly include.
In short
The twelve portable gas cooking products in this set fall into three shelf-price bands: under £75, about £75 to £160, and above £160. Those bands describe this set. A lower price can still be poor value when the gas fitting is unnamed, while a higher price may pay for a lid, wheels, a larger plate or a supplied UK regulator rather than for fuel.
Three price bands in this set
Under £75: small grills and basic plates
The lower band starts with the Greenfields stove and grill plate at £34.99. Its listing included a case, plate, drip tray, brush, skewers and tongs. The fuel description said only gas and did not name EN 417, a Campingaz cartridge or a UK hose fitting. A cheap appliance is not a complete bargain if you cannot identify the canister before leaving home.
The Campingaz Party Grill at £43.92 and Party Grill 200 CV at £56.01 gave more useful fitting information. The former named CV470 or CV300 cartridges, while the 200 CV named CV 470 Plus and had a 1,024 cm² cooking-area field. Both still require a fuel allowance. You can compare the set in our camping gas barbecue comparison.
At £74.99, the ROVSUN two-burner griddle sat at the top of this lower band: a flat enamel plate, two burners and a regulator in the box, listed at 7.1 kg. Its cylinder size was not named, and its five UK-headed reviews are a narrow base for judging owner experience.
About £75 to £160: more formats, not one clear upgrade
The Campingaz Party Grill 400 CV was £96.01, named a CV 470 Plus cartridge and listed a carry bag, a wok-style lid and three power settings. UK reviews said the cartridge was not supplied despite its appearance in the components line. The practical starting cost is more than £96.01 unless you already own compatible fuel.
The £99.99 CAMPLUX FoldGo weighed 2.8 kg, folded into its own case and could use gas or charcoal, but the gas canister thread was not named. The £125 George Foreman GFSBBQ1 included a UK regulator and hose, though not the cylinder size, and its printed weight conflicted between 10 kg and 7.5 kg.
The Char-Broil X200 cost £157.97 and specified a 16.4 oz disposable propane cylinder sold separately. The Campingaz Othello 1 CV plancha was £159.99, with a 30 by 45 cm enamelled plate, hose and regulator in the bullets, and a CV 470 Plus cartridge explicitly excluded. If a flat cooking surface is your priority, compare it with our gas griddle guide. The Othello is listed at 10.5 kg.
Above £160: larger bodies, lids and transport hardware
The upper band began with the Campingaz Attitude2go CV at £190.96. Its bullets described a 13 kg lidded grill with thermometer and CV 470 Plus connection, but its review block matched the Othello file. The shelf price and specifications can be read; the displayed review average should not justify the spend.
The Weber Q 1100N was £289 and the Weber Traveler Compact £322.01. The Q 1100N listed cast-iron grates, a lid, thermometer and 9.1 kg weight; the Traveler added wheels, an automatic lid lock and an 18.1 kg field weight. Neither named the gas in its bullets, so a premium shelf price still does not settle the fuel question.
What the shelf price leaves out
Fuel is the omission most likely to make a neat comparison misleading. A CV 470 Plus cartridge, a disposable propane cylinder and a cylinder used with a UK hose are not interchangeable. The listings name all three kinds across different products, while some name no fitting at all. Identify the exact connection, and check whether you already own compatible fuel, before you compare prices.
Do not use a reviewer's old cartridge or adapter price as today's allowance. Historical figures in reviews were not carried into this guide as current UK prices. An Othello reviewer reported being unable to buy the required gas locally. Buy or confirm the right fuel before a trip.
Box contents are a second uncertainty. The Party Grill 400 components line listed a cartridge, while UK reviewers said one was not supplied. The Othello bullets named a hose and regulator, but its components field listed only a manual. Where two parts of a listing disagree, budget on the cautious reading and check the current parcel with the seller.
Products from 2.8 kg to about 18 kg all appear under the portable label, and a separate bag, stand or longer hose sits outside the shelf price. For another table format, see our tabletop gas BBQ comparison.
Stars do not justify the price
A star average does not tell you whether a price fits your trip, and it does not include fuel. The £96.01 Party Grill 400 showed 4.6 from 4,208 reviews, the largest sample in this set. The £34.99 Greenfields showed 3.8 from 29, with only eleven UK texts in the research file.
The ROVSUN griddle's 4.5 average came from 98 ratings, but only five UK-headed reviews were available. The CAMPLUX FoldGo had 4.6 from 24. The Attitude2go's 4.6 from 426 sat above review text that was byte-identical to the Othello file, so that average is not evidence of owner experience with the Attitude2go.
UK texts repeatedly reported Party Grill ignition problems, while Char-Broil X200 reviews repeated regulator faults. One comment cannot establish a failure rate. No product here was laboratory tested, and these prices are dated UK listing snapshots rather than permanent RRPs.
When a low price hides the fitting
An unnamed gas fitting is not a minor specification gap. The £34.99 Greenfields product is the clearest example because its fuel field said only gas. It may still suit a buyer once the parcel or an updated listing identifies the connection, but the shelf price is not a complete setup price before that point.
The same caution applies at higher prices. The Weber Q 1100N at £289 omitted the cartridge from its bullets, and the £322.01 Traveler Compact also left it unnamed there. A Traveler review mentioned EN 417, but that is not a specification in the bullet list.
Named fittings still do not guarantee that fuel is included. The Party Grill 200 CV named CV 470 Plus and cost £56.01. The Char-Broil X200 named a 16.4 oz disposable propane cylinder and said it was sold separately. The George Foreman model included a UK hose and regulator at £125 but did not name the cylinder size.
How to set a realistic budget
Start with how you will carry the barbecue. Comparing a light unit for two with a wheeled family grill does not produce a useful winner. Decide whether you need a grate, flat plate, lid, bag or wheels, then remove products that do not fit.
Next, write down the exact fuel fitting beside every remaining model. Mark the cartridge, cylinder, hose and regulator as included, excluded or unclear, using the current listing rather than an old review price. If the fitting is unnamed or the box contents conflict, treat that as an unresolved cost before ordering.
Inspect and try a new unit promptly outdoors, following its instructions. Section 22 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 sets a 30-day short-term right-to-reject period, subject to the Act's conditions. Leaving a boxed barbecue untouched until a distant holiday can make a fault more awkward to resolve. Keep your order details, and do not alter a connection to force compatibility.
