Intex sand filter buying guide

Updated: 21.10.2026

The cartridge pump on a seasonal frame pool is what you are replacing. An Intex sand filter buying guide only helps if the first cut is the supply, not the model badge. UK mains are nominally 230 V. Two listings in the [Intex sand filter](/hub/pool-care/intex-sand-filter) comparison print 120 V, and two more leave voltage as not stated. The order is volts, then a published pool ceiling, then the media weight, then 32 mm against 38 mm. A qualifying amazon.co.uk purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. The listings were read on 19 October 2026. This is not a lab test.

Check 220–240 V before the model name

The name SX925 sits on two amazon.co.uk listings, and they are not the same electrical product. B09T71Y1ZC, coded 26642BS, is about £109.99 and does not state a voltage, so a blank is not 230 V. B099LRF8ZK, coded 26641EG, is about £141.28 and the table says 120 V. B0FD5CF5C8, the SX2100 Plus 26655EG at about £219.07, also prints 120 V. Those two rows fail before sand or hoses. The listing that states a UK-range supply in the title is the SX1500, B07FB5JSVD, model 26644BS, at about £131.09. Model 26648BS at about £194.49 puts 220–240 V in the title. Neither states the plug shape. B07NDQBJL2, 26646FR at about £154.95, leaves voltage unstated, and one UK review describes a two-pin plug. The plug rule is on Intex sand filter UK plug.

Match the pool to a published ceiling

Splash and Relax lists SX925 26642BS for pools up to 16,805 litres. B07FB5JSVD states above-ground pools up to 29.1 m³ (7,700 gallons). Poolpro's page for model 26644 puts the ceiling nearer 19,156 litres. Do not average 19 m³ and 29.1 m³. Between them, the listings do not close the gap. A 10 ft pool against 16,805 litres is on Intex SX925 vs SX1500. A cell of 925 gallons per minute on B09T71Y1ZC is not a pool size.

Buy the media the model names

Sand is not in the box on the listings that mention it. B09T71Y1ZC asks for 6.5 kg of silica, not included. B07FB5JSVD asks for 12 kg of No. 20 silica or 8.5 kg of glass, also not included. B099LRF8ZK states no kilogram figure. B07NDQBJL2, B07FB82128 and B0FD5CF5C8 state no sand weight. If that line is missing, you do not have a media order yet. Glass applies only where a glass weight is named: 8.5 kg on the SX1500, not a second 12 kg bag. Fibre balls on Intex's support page are 200 g, 350 g, 650 g or 1,000 g, each for a different filter. Do not convert a sand weight into balls yourself. The first wash of new media is how to backwash an Intex sand filter.

Match 32 mm and 38 mm

Intex's hose article puts the SX925 on 32 mm and the SX1500, plus the larger sand filters, on 38 mm. On that table a 32 mm filter on a 32 mm Intex pool needs no extra parts. B07FB5JSVD includes two 38 mm hoses and says the plunger valves and 38 mm outlet fittings are not included. Reviews say smaller pool ports needed adapters. Splash and Relax says type B adaptors are needed when the SX925 meets a 32 mm push-fit port. That adaptor joins the hose to the port. It is not a voltage converter, and it disagrees with Intex's nothing-extra line. B09T71Y1ZC does not state hoses, so the adaptor is not a listed inclusion. If the pool is 32 mm and you buy the SX1500, budget for the fitting the reviews describe.

Common questions

Does the box include the sand?
No, where the listing mentions media. 26642BS asks for 6.5 kg of silica, not included. 26644BS asks for 12 kg of No. 20 silica or 8.5 kg of glass, also not included. Three of the six listings state no kilogram figure. Order the media with the pump.
Should a 10 ft pool take the SX925 or the SX1500?
SX925 reviewers name 10 ft pools and pools around 3 m by 2 m. Splash and Relax caps that class at 16,805 litres. B07FB5JSVD states 29.1 m³, while Poolpro prints about 19,156 litres. A 10 ft pool can sit inside the smaller ceiling only if the unit is confirmed 220–240 V. The about £109.99 SX925 does not state voltage, so it is not an automatic small-pool buy.
How many fibre balls replace the sand?
Intex publishes 200 g, 350 g, 650 g and 1,000 g for different filters. Match the grammes to the model code on the support page. Do not invent a fibre-ball weight from 6.5 kg or 12 kg of sand. Glass on the SX1500, where the listing allows it, is 8.5 kg, not the sand weight repeated.
Why are there two SX925 listings?
They are different model codes. B09T71Y1ZC is 26642BS at about £109.99, voltage not stated, with 6.5 kg of sand named. B099LRF8ZK is 26641EG at about £141.28 and the table says 120 V, for pools up to 4,500 gallons. Skip the 120 V row for a UK socket.
What if the table says 925 gallons per minute?
On B09T71Y1ZC the table prints 925 gallons per minute beside the SX925 name. There is no gallons-per-hour line that would let you treat the cell as a typing slip, so do not correct it yourself. Size from a published litre ceiling, such as 16,805 litres, and leave the minute figure unresolved. The voltage check still comes first.
