Best pool filter balls for a small seasonal pool

Updated: 21 October 2026

You want one bag for a small above-ground pool, and the amazon.co.uk results offer seven different sand slogans at once. The best pool filter balls in this shortlist are not the highest star line and not the cheapest gram. They are the pack whose weight lines agree, and whose maker or your pump maker printed a fill you can check. The [filter balls comparison](/hub/pool-care/filter-balls) holds the seven listings, from about £3.99 to about £13.99 on 19 October 2026. This page says who each one is for, and who should skip it. Our top picks

What a top pick can and cannot mean

Nothing in this set was measured for particle size. A 3–5 micron bullet is the seller’s sentence, not a reason to call a bag the best in the UK. A top pick here is the listing with a real model number, a pack weight that does not fight itself, and a review file a single comment cannot carry. Best value is the lowest price that still has agreeing weights, a wash line on the listing, and more than a couple of UK texts. On those rules the Intex 500 g bag leads this shortlist, and the Bomxmon bag at about £9.99 is the best value. A 5.0 from five ratings does not outrank 4.5 from 1,004.

Intex 29045 against the rest of the set

Intex 29045, ASIN B0CG6J5J1F, is about £10.99 for 500 g. The bullets say that equals 18 kg of silica sand and that the balls are machine washable. The technical line says 510 g. The model number and the GTIN are printed, which none of the generic bags match. The star line is 4.5 from 1,004. Of 50 texts saved, 10 are labelled United Kingdom, so you should not read the 1,004 as a UK verdict. Skip it if your pump is not an Intex sand filter, if the table wants more than 500 g, or if you expected a cartridge. SX2100 is 650 g, so one 29045 bag is short. The grams are on the above-ground filter balls page. The catalogue field that says Glass, against a fibre-ball title, is a listing conflict, not a second product.

The £3.99 bags and the contradictory weights

Both Rakiuty listings are about £3.99. B0GSK3G963 is a 200 g bag whose title and technical line agree. amazon.co.uk shows 3.4 from 3, and the third rating has no text. The 4 kg slogan is not Intex’s SX925 line, which is also 200 g and belongs to Intex’s smallest sand pump. B0GV41T6VM has no review line. The title says 300 g, a parameter bullet says 200 g, and the technical line says 310 g, while the sand claim stays at 4 kg. The method for matching a bag to a pump is the filter balls buying guide.

Larger generic bags

Bomxmon, B0GSZB7536, is about £9.99. The title says 1.54 lb, about 699 g, and the technical line says 720 g. The “replaces 75 lb” line is a slogan. It is 4.8 from 5, with four UK texts. It is the best value here because the weights agree. It is not a named fill for an SX model. Windspeed is about £11.99, with a title of 1,400 g and a technical line of 700 g. STEEIRO is about £13.99 for 1,800 g against 1.82 kg, and the title says blue and ends with (White). If the pump manual does not allow balls, none of these seven is the right buy. That fork is filter balls vs sand.

Common questions

Which pack is the sensible buy if I own an Intex sand pump?
Intex 29045 at about £10.99, if your model’s table is in the region of 500 g. It is the only bag here with that model number. If the table says 650 g, 1,000 g, or 1,500 g, one 500 g bag is not the fill. A generic title that never mentions SX is not a substitute for the table.
Is the £3.99 bag the best value?
Not on these listings. The agreeing Rakiuty 200 g bag is the cheapest, and it is 3.4 from 3, with the low rating missing as text. The other £3.99 page has no reviews and three weights. Best value in this set is the Bomxmon bag at about £9.99, where the title weight and the technical weight are close and four UK texts are saved.
Why is 4.5 from 1,004 not automatically the winner for every pool?
The count is real, and ten of 50 saved texts are labelled UK, so it is not a British sample. The 500 g pack also fails any Intex pump whose table wants more than 500 g. The star line supports the bag inside this shortlist. It does not make 500 g the quantity for every seasonal filter.
Should I buy Bestway’s own balls instead of a generic?
If you own a Bestway sand pump, Polysphere is the ball that brand documents, at 28 g per 1 kg of sand, with a hand-rinse. It is not in this ASIN set. The UK store showed about £19.99 and was sold out when read. A generic is a fallback only when you can still hit that gram figure.
Who should skip the heaviest pack?
Skip STEEIRO’s 1,800 g bag if your pump has a published gram target you cannot hit with a vague 65 kg slogan, if you need to know the colour before it arrives, or if one paddling-pool review is not enough evidence for the £13.99. The weights agree, which is better than Windspeed’s split, and that is the limit of the compliment.
