Cordless pool robot buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

You have a garden pool, a battery robot looks simpler than a cable, and the amazon.co.uk titles all sound finished. This cordless pool robot buying guide is the order before you open a listing: floor and shape, then surfaces, then runtime against charge time, then lift weight, then the filter and the charger. The [cordless pool robot comparison](/hub/pool-care/cordless-pool-robot) holds the seven-ASIN table, prices and scores. This page does not pick a winner. We used the amazon.co.uk snapshot of 19 October 2026. We did not run the robots. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the floor, not the square footage

A longer area claim does not fix a floor the robot is not allowed to drive. The AquaGuard SE II (B0G1Y8TZC2), the RPC-100A (B0G1Y6YL4V) and the green RPC100A (B0G1YMYFF4) are for flat pools, not slopes or heavy wrinkles. A hopper or a creased liner removes them. Up to 90 m² was not measured here. B0GKGMHMMT allows a flat floor or a slope up to 8°, at a claimed 900 sq ft. Steep slopes, steps and heavy wrinkles stay excluded. Eight degrees is a mild tilt, not a wall. The U8 allows rectangular and square pools, not round or oval. The YDHZ spec table contradicts its title, so do not treat that row as a battery size.

Floor only, or walls as well

Floor-only is the budget class here, roughly £82 to £149. Those POOLPURE titles clean the floor. They do not claim the wall or the waterline. The U8, at about £399.99, claims floor, walls and the waterline, a 6 litre basket and up to 200 m², and it excludes round and oval pools. The AIPER Scuba S1 row also claims floor, wall and waterline, 180 minutes, a 3 μm filter and a 180 micron basket. The raw price is about £999. A spot check on 19 October 2026 showed £549. The URL ASIN and the spec-table ASIN differ. Conditional picks are on the best cordless pool robot page.

Runtime, charge and how heavy it is dry

A 100-minute claim and a 90 m² claim were not timed here. Flat-floor POOLPURE rows say 2.5 to 3 hours to charge. The U8 says 4.5 hours. The AIPER raw row does not state a charge time. One UK reviewer of the green RPC100A, with a 24 x 12 ft pool, needed two runs, so the second pass waited on the charger. Another cycle the same hour is the cordless vs corded pool robot page. Floor robots are about 3.6 to 3.8 kg dry. The U8 is 12 kg dry. The 8° listing includes a hook. A park at 5% only helps if the robot is still moving.

What the filter line and the IP line do not say

The AIPER row states a 3 μm filter and a 180 micron basket. The U8 states a 6 litre basket. Many budget listings give no basket size. Fine dust still belongs to the pool pump. Maytronics, on a different cordless model, notes that a finer filter can shorten the cycle. IPX8 and IP68 on these bullets are claims about the robot in the water. A cracked case is outside that claim. These ASINs are not the Zodiac Freerider batches recalled on 6 March 2025. UK outdoor sockets need 30 mA RCD protection. Maytronics tells Liberty owners to keep the charger at least 3.5 m from the water, on the original charger, with no extension lead.

Common questions

Does a longer runtime mean it cleans a larger pool?
No. Runtime, area and charge time are three different lines, and none of them was measured for this guide. A POOLPURE bullet can say about 100 minutes and up to 90 m² while the charge is 2.5 to 3 hours. The U8 claims 120 minutes and 200 m² with a 4.5 hour charge. A claim is the manufacturer's figure on amazon.co.uk. A pool that needs two passes still waits on the charger.
Should you buy floor only or walls and the waterline?
Buy floor only if the dirt you care about is on a flat floor and you are in the £82 to £149 band. Buy a wall claim if the waterline is the job, which in this set means the U8 or the AIPER row, after you read the shape limit and the live price. A floor robot does not become a climber because the title says cordless. Walls are a different listing, not an upgrade you can assume.
What slope counts as gentle in this set?
Gentle, on the only listing that uses a number, means up to 8° on B0GKGMHMMT. The other POOLPURE rows say flat only and exclude slopes. Eight degrees is not a wall, a step, or a hopper. If the floor is steeper than that sentence, leave the floor class. Do not average the listings into one slope limit.
Why does dry weight matter on an above-ground pool?
You lift the robot out over the wall, and wet weight is higher than the printed figure. The floor robots are about 3.6 to 3.8 kg dry. The U8 is 12 kg dry. A floating handle or a hook helps only after you can take the weight. If you cannot lift 12 kg clear of the rail, the wall-cleaning claim is the wrong machine for that pool even when the shape matches.
What does IPX8 not promise?
It does not promise that a cracked, swollen or badly sealed case stays dry, and it does not cover the charger. IPX8 and IP68 on these pages are listing claims. The Zodiac recall is the public example of water reaching a lithium bay. These ASINs are not that recall. Stop using a robot whose case is damaged, and do not open it to look.
