Best rivet nut tool

Updated: 16 October 2026

You want one tool for a bracket this weekend, and the rows look alike. The best rivet nut tool here is not a single crown. It is a condition: the largest mandrel the bullets list, whether those handles can open, and a review file large enough to show the failures. The [rivet nut pliers comparison](/hub/pliers/rivet-nut-pliers) holds the eight prices. Products Compared used listings captured on 15 October 2026. The criterion before any name

Start with the largest thread you will set, then with the space around the handles, and only then with the stars. A 4.8 from 10 ratings can outrank a 4.4 from 2,132 on a sort button and still tell you less. A 4.4 average can also hide a mandrel that sheared on the fifth nut. How a title overclaims is on the rivet nut tool buying guide. Trade prices are a fence, not a winner. Machine Mart lists the Clarke CHT880 at £59.98 including VAT, and Draper's 410 mm tool is £71.94. Fixings Megastore lists a trade ratchet at £163.45 including VAT. A £65.99 amazon.co.uk ratchet is not that tool, and neither Clarke nor Draper is in this set.

Short lever when the job stops at M6

The eSynic 8 inch tool is the short lever. It is £24.02, with mandrels M3, M4, M5 and M6, 100 nuts and a carrying box, and 4.4 from 1,247 reviews. That is the lowest shelf price here, and UK notes call it hard at M6. The handles are 8 inch and the weight is 1.3 kg. Skip it if the next insert is M8 or larger. The box does not contain those mandrels. It suits a furniture repair that stays at M4 or M5, and an occasional M6 in thin sheet if scrap already feels comfortable. The parts list agrees with itself. The nuts are a starter pack, and the listing does not call them steel.

Long lever when you need M8 to M12

The AojSup A-06, at £29.99, is the 35 cm lever whose bullets run from M3 to M12, with 110 nuts and 4.2 from 250 reviews. A claim of about 30% less effort is unmeasured, and the handles still need a clear arc. The other long tools often stop at M10. INCIKITI, at £32.29, lists M3 to M10 on 4.0 from 34 ratings. Proster, at £35.99, lists the same six mandrels and 150 nuts, on 4.4 from 2,132 ratings. AMTOVL, at £40.99, prints both 125 and 120 nuts. HARDELL, at £33.99, disagrees in the title and a bullet on mandrels and on 164 pieces versus 80 nuts. If the drawing needs M12 and the handles have room, the AojSup is the lever that says so. If it stops at M10 and you want the deepest review history, that is the Proster's condition.

Ratchet when swing or hand force is the problem

The LIBRATON 919014 is the only ratchet in this set. It is £65.99 and 2.9 kg, with mandrels M5, M6, M8, M10 and M12, 50 nuts and a case, and 4.5 from 404 reviews. UK comments compare the effort with long levers. One says an M8 steel insert did not collapse. Compatibility with aluminium and stainless is not a measured pull, and 4.5 is not proof that steel M8 will set. Skip it for M3 and M4. Those mandrels are not in the list. Choose it when the insert is M5 or larger and a 14 inch arc will not fit, for example inside a door pillar. It is not the £163 trade ratchet. Set a steel nut on scrap before you trust it.

What the stars do not prove

Proster's 4.4 from 2,132 ratings is the largest file here, which is why it is the top pick for a matching M3–M10 list when the handles can open. The same sample includes UK texts that describe a sheared head or a stripped thread within a few nuts. M12 is still absent. The 10 inch eSynic is 4.8 from 10 ratings, first listed on 24 June 2026. A sort by stars will put it first. A sort by evidence will not. Match the mandrel and the swing, then set the first nut in scrap, as how to use a rivet nut tool describes. A structural joint, or a panel next to fuel or an airbag, is the wrong place to stop.

Common questions

Which tool in this set if I only set M6?
The eSynic 8 inch tool lists M6 at £24.02, and UK notes say that size needs a strong grip. A 14 inch lever that includes M6, such as the Proster, gives more arc if you have room to open it. For steel M6 in a tight corner, look at the ratchet only after a scrap test, and only if M5 is an acceptable minimum.
Which listing actually includes M12?
Among the levers, the AojSup bullets name M3 through M12. The LIBRATON ratchet names M5 through M12 and omits M3 and M4. INCIKITI, Proster and AMTOVL stop at M10. HARDELL's title and bullet do not agree, and M12 is not the clean claim on either line. Read the live bullets before you order, because titles move.
Is the highest star score the one to buy?
No. The highest star line here is 4.8 from 10 ratings on the 10 inch eSynic. That sample is too small to prefer over 4.4 from 1,247 or from 2,132. Stars are a reception record. They are not a mandrel-life test, and a high average with almost no reviews is a new listing, not a result.
Is the ratchet the right tool for small nuts?
No. The LIBRATON list starts at M5. M3 and M4 need a lever whose bullets include them. A ratchet can be the better choice for M8 in a pillar. It is the wrong choice for a furniture screw in M4, however comfortable the short pulls feel.
Do stripped-mandrel reviews cancel a 4.4 average?
They qualify it. Proster's 4.4 from 2,132 still contains those UK reports. Buy a spare mandrel in the size you use and set the stroke on scrap. Do not read the average as a guarantee that yours will last.
