Systemic rose fungicide or sulphur

Updated: October 2026

You are holding two amazon.co.uk pages that both say fungicide, and one is an authorised pesticide while the other is a plant-health wash. Systemic rose fungicide or sulphur is that choice: tebuconazole plus trifloxystrobin, a fatty-acid and sulphur 3-in-1, or a pesticide-free spray. Prices and the full table stay on the [rose fungicide comparison](/hub/plant-accessories/rose-fungicide). We wrote this on 16 October 2026 from those listings, the Royal Horticultural Society fungicide list, and HSE product records. We did not run a garden trial. Inclusion on the RHS list is not an endorsement. If you buy through our amazon.co.uk links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Three products, one shelf word

The RHS fungicide PDF splits the shelf. Sulphur is a protectant for ornamentals. RoseClear 3 in 1 is fatty acid plus sulphur, and the fatty acid is there for aphids. Tebuconazole plus trifloxystrobin sits on Provanto Fungus Fighter Plus and Toprose Fungus Control and Protect. HSE record MAPP 18223 is 0.125 g/l of each. The amazon titles do not print the names. Westland’s sheet calls Fungus Guard a plant-health product and the page says pesticide-free. RoseClear Ultra is a fourth object: HSE MAPP 14854 is triticonazole plus acetamiprid. The about £18.99 Topline bundle that uses the Ultra name is a concentrate plus a sprayer, not the ready-to-use twin. If you have not decided you need a spray, the rose fungicide buying guide is the tree.

When the systemic pair is the one to buy

Buy the systemic pair when the label names the disease and you will follow an authorised pesticide. Toprose is 1 L at about £8.52, 4.4 from 1,935 reviews, model 86600038. Provanto Fungus Fighter Plus is 2 × 1 L at about £16, 4.4 from 6,900 reviews, model 86600250. Both say contact and systemic, up to 3 weeks, and name black spot, mildew, and rust. Provanto also names box blight. Compare them on the best rose fungicide page. Skip them if you will not use a MAPP pesticide, or if the plant is not on the label. A Provanto review says tomatoes scorched when the crop was not approved. Keep the spray off ponds and drains. Up to 3 weeks is this pair’s bullet, not a gap you can lend to sulphur.

When a sulphur 3-in-1 is the one to buy

Buy the sulphur 3-in-1 when aphids and a fungus are both on the plant, and you will accept a contact protectant and a possible white deposit. RoseClear 3 in 1 is about £10.98 for 2 × 800 ml, 4.8 from seven reviews, and names fatty acid and sulphur, aphids, black spot, powdery mildew, and rust. The interval cell gives no day count. Topline Clear Bug at about £16.99 also claims insects plus black spot. Several UK reviews say a white deposit stays after rain. Skip sulphur if you have no insects and you want the longer systemic bullet.

When you want no MAPP pesticide

Buy the pesticide-free spray when you will not use an authorised pesticide, and you accept a weaker claim. Westland Fungus Guard is about £5.90 for 800 ml, 4.2 from 458 reviews. The bullets say pesticide-free and that it removes disease spores. They do not name black spot, mildew, or rust, and the amazon row has no interval. The maker’s page says about every 7 days. In 50 UK reviews the sprayer stops, and some say it did nothing. Rose Guard Natural, about £19.99 for 2 × 800 ml, names powdery mildew and a 7-day repeat, with one review and no text. Black spot is not named. If the label must name the disease and you accept a pesticide, use Toprose or Provanto. If you refuse a MAPP pesticide, Westland is the pesticide-free row.

Common questions

Is a systemic spray the same chemical as a sulphur spray?
No. The systemic listings match tebuconazole plus trifloxystrobin, HSE MAPP 18223, at 0.125 g/l of each. RoseClear 3 in 1 in this set names fatty acid and sulphur. Westland’s sheet describes a plant-health product, not that MAPP mixture. Sharing the word fungicide on amazon does not make the droplets the same. The RHS list keeps them in different tables.
When is sulphur, or a 3-in-1, the better buy?
When aphids and a fungus are on the same plant, and you will accept a contact protectant rather than the three-week systemic bullet. RoseClear 3 in 1 names both jobs and names fatty acid and sulphur, at about £10.98 for two 800 ml sprays, with only seven reviews. Skip it if you have no insects, or if a white deposit, reported on the Topline 3-in-1, would bother you.
Is pesticide-free the same as an authorised fungicide?
No. Westland Fungus Guard is marked pesticide-free, and the safety sheet calls it a plant-health product. The bullets do not name black spot. Rose Guard Natural is also pesticide-free and names powdery mildew with a 7-day repeat. Neither row is MAPP 18223 under a gentler title. You choose them because you will not buy the pesticide, and you accept the narrower claim.
Will sulphur leave a white mark?
It can. Several UK reviews of Topline Clear Bug say a white deposit stays on the leaves after rain. RoseClear’s two short reviews in the saved listing do not describe that fault, and the sample is only seven reviews, so absence there is not proof of a clear spray. Toprose reviewers, on the systemic litre, praise a spray that does not leave white marks. If a clean leaf matters, that complaint is a reason to avoid the 3-in-1.
Is RoseClear Ultra the same bottle as RoseClear 3 in 1?
No. Ultra on the HSE record MAPP 14854 is triticonazole plus acetamiprid. The 3-in-1 in this set names fatty acid and sulphur and is a ready-to-use pack of two 800 ml sprays at about £10.98. The about £18.99 marketplace bundle that says Ultra is a 200 ml concentrate plus a sprayer. Do not copy one label’s interval onto the other.
