Pop-up or hanging mosquito net

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are choosing a bed net for a bedroom, a hostel bunk or a caravan. A pop-up or hanging mosquito net is a hoop that springs open, or a dome that needs a hook. Hang one when you can fix a point and need a long hem. Use a pop-up only when the open length fits you. The twelve-row table is the [mosquito net comparison](/hub/pest-control/mosquito-net). When a hanging net is the one

Choose a hanging canopy if a joist, the adhesive hooks, or a curtain rail will take the weight. The long hems are the two Twinkle Star canopies at 12 m and FGen at about 11 m in the bullets. An 8 m hem is a different product. Twinkle Star B0GQLQXV82 is £24.99, with a 2.5 m drop and a 12 m bottom. Four saved United Kingdom reviews mention a crooked hang unless you tie it, and a side opening that can admit insects. Mesh sizes are on the mosquito net buying guide.

When a pop-up is the one

A pop-up suits a room where the ceiling is off limits. It fails when the open length is shorter than you are once bedding is inside. Guanici at £18.99 prints 200 × 80 × 56 cm. The 56 cm is not standing room, even though a widget also says 2 m × 0.8 m. A reviewer at 5 ft 6 in said holiday bites stopped. The file is 4.1 from 26 reviews. Packing steps are on how to use a mosquito net.

What both still fail at

Both shapes are untreated. Do not pack either for a malaria-endemic trip, and do not treat a St Lucia note on FGen as a treatment claim. Hanging nets fail with no hook, a screw into a cable run, or Cognitivex’s 8 m hem on a bed that needed 12 m. Pop-ups fail at length, at a caught zip, and at the pack-away.

A straight choice

For a double you can hang, take Twinkle Star B0GQLQXV82 at £24.99 when the bullets include the hooks, or FGen at £10.99 if you accept the 11 m bullet rather than the 12 m title. The £19.99 Twinkle Star needs a hook already there. Skip Cognitivex for a double, and skip BATSEREN until the widget matches the bullets. If you cannot hang anything, Guanici’s 200 cm is the printed match for a shorter single. Fransande’s 439 reviews include complaints from people around 5 ft 8 in and above. Skips are on best mosquito net.

Common questions

Should I buy a pop-up or a hanging net?
Hang a canopy if you can fix one point and you need spare hem to tuck around a double. Use a pop-up if the ceiling is forbidden and the printed open length is longer than you are when you lie down with bedding. The £24.99 Twinkle Star is the hook-kit hanging net in this set. Guanici is the pop-up with 200 cm printed.
Will a 12 m hem cover a double?
It is the long hem in this set, stated on both Twinkle Star canopies. FGen’s bullets say about 11 m and the title says 12 m, so do not treat those two numbers as one measurement. You still walk the cloth around the mattress and tuck what is left under the edge. Cognitivex, at about 8 m, is the canopy UK reviews argue about.
What if I cannot drill?
Use the adhesive hooks included with Twinkle Star B0GQLQXV82, with FGen, or with Cognitivex, and only on paint that can take them. Or use a pop-up and leave the ceiling alone. The £19.99 Twinkle Star assumes a hook is already there, so it is a poor no-drill choice unless that hook exists. Adhesive can mark a rental.
Are pop-ups long enough for tall people?
Not as a rule. Guanici states 200 cm, and the saved success is a reviewer at 5 ft 6 in. Fransande has no clear open length, and reviewers over about 5 ft 8 in or 5 ft 9 in found it short, especially once bedding was inside. Normodic states 190 cm and has no reviews to test that figure.
Why do two Twinkle Star listings share a model code?
Both print ACO-twk-002. B0GQLQXV82 is £24.99, with a 2.5 m drop and a hook kit. B0GQLVM9K5 is £19.99, with a 2.2 m drop and a rope. The included-components field says Rod on both, which does not match either bullet list cleanly. Buy from the drop and the contents, not from the shared code.
Which cheap dome has UK reviews that disagree on size?
Cognitivex at £7.99. The page says 230 × 800 × 60 cm. Some UK reviews accept it on a small double if it is tucked in. Others say it is small for a double, thin, or too small for a single, and that the photos look like a different product. The star line is 3.9 from 106 reviews.
Do either type include insecticide?
No bed listing in this group states an insecticide. One UK review of the £24.99 Twinkle Star calls that canopy untreated. Guanici’s bullets say chemical-free, which is the same gap in different words. For a malaria-endemic trip, NHS and GOV.UK want a treated net, repellent, and any tablets you have been prescribed. These pop-ups and hanging nets are a barrier for a UK room, a hostel or a caravan.
