Fluorescent graffiti spray paint is not a night-glow

Updated: October 2026

You want the bright cans, usually the £11.55 six-pack or the £19.66 twelve-pack, and the photograph looks like a promise. It is not one. Fluorescent graffiti spray paint, for these two amazon.co.uk listings, means a colour lottery in 200 ml tins: the seller's mix may not match the picture, fluorescent is a bright dye and not a night-glow, and a solid patch often takes several thin coats. Gloss RAL sets stay on the main comparison. We did not fade a panel in sunlight. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Both rows sit in the [graffiti cans comparison](/hub/paints-and-varnishes/graffiti-cans).

The photo is not the contract

The unknown-brand six-pack, B071KL5K2C, is £11.55, origin United Kingdom, six 200 ml cans, 4.1 from 1,052 reviews. The bullet names red twice, and reviews report gloss cans in a neon carton. TLP, B007ER3UBI, is £19.66, twelve 200 ml cans, 3.9 from 265. The bullet says any mix from the named hues will be sent. Reviews report missing colours, fewer than 12 cans, and short deliveries. Why the six-pack keeps the value mark is best graffiti cans.

Fluorescent is not glow-in-the-dark

Fluorescent, as One Stop Aerosols describes their own neon, looks intense in daylight and under ultraviolet light. It is not phosphorescent. It does not keep glowing after the lamp is off. One Stop is not these ASINs. A buyer of the six-pack expected glow in the dark and did not get it. Montana's UV fluorescent range is a different product. Ordering B071KL5K2C will not supply it. Judge the hue on a light ground, in daylight. NO CFCs only excludes CFC propellant. The sale age is in the graffiti spray paint buying guide.

Coats, not square metres

Set the coverage fields aside. The six-pack prints 60–90 square metres per litre. The twelve-pack prints 60–84 square metres per 2.4 litres. UK reviews describe small boards and several coats. Buy for a panel or a stencil you may paint, and expect more than one light pass. Other UK neon sellers start on white. A bodyshop page that asks for three to five coats is a different paint. Do not copy a 2K clear onto these cans. A dark board drinks the first pass. Shake, distance and the five-minute rule are on how to use graffiti spray cans. The six-pack's dry fields disagree: 24 hours dry and one hour full cure.

Sun, smell and who it is for

One UK review of the TLP pack said the colour faded quickly without a lacquer. That is one report, not a weathering test. If the piece must stay bright outdoors, these two boxes have not earned that claim. Waterproof is ticked on both. The six-pack's level only says water resistant. The twelve-pack's level says waterproof. A tick is not a sun test. CFC-free is not a low-odour exemption. The six-pack is the buy when you will check every can. The twelve-pack is the buy only when you will count the tins on arrival. Neither is a children's product because a review mentioned a party.

Common questions

Will I get the six colours in the photo?
Do not plan on it. The £11.55 bullet names red twice and reviews report gloss cans in a neon box. The £19.66 bullet says any mix of the named hues will be sent, and reviews report missing colours and fewer than 12 cans. The photograph is advertising. The bullet plus the reviews are the contract. Open the parcel and match the caps before you start a design that needs one exact pink.
Is fluorescent the same as glow-in-the-dark?
No. Fluorescent dye looks bright in daylight and can respond under ultraviolet light. It does not store light and glow after you switch the lamp off. One Stop Aerosols states that split for their own neon, and a buyer of this six-pack wanted glow-in-the-dark and did not get it. One blacklight comment in the reviews is not a promise that your can will do the same. Montana's UV fluorescent range is a different product and is not in this box.
Why does it look weak on a dark board?
The dye is translucent, and a dark ground swallows the first coats. Reviewers describe several coats, and one notes yellow on black reading as green. Other UK neon sellers, talking about their own paint, start on a white ground. That is sound practice for this kind of colour. It is not a test we ran on these ASINs. Lay a light base, then build thin coats. One heavy pass is more likely to run than to look solid.
Will it stay bright outside?
These listings do not prove that. One TLP review said the colour faded quickly without a lacquer. Waterproof ticks disagree with each other on the six-pack and are not a sun test on either pack. One Stop suggests a clear coat for their own neon because the pigments are less durable. Do not move a 2K bodyshop clear onto these cans. If outdoor brightness is the requirement, this pair has not shown it.
Is the £19.66 box better because it has twelve cans?
Only on the label, and only if twelve usable neon cans arrive. At £19.66 against £11.55 you are paying for more named slots, while the seller chooses the mix. The star line is lower, 3.9 from 265 against 4.1 from 1,052, and short deliveries are part of that file. The weight field of 249 g does not describe twelve full 200 ml cans. Count the box. Then decide whether the hues are ones you can use.
Is NO CFCs the safety feature?
It only says the propellant is not a CFC. It does not mean low odour, indoor safety, or a product for children. Spraying still puts solvent in the air. The sale age remains under 16 in England, Wales and Scotland, and under 18 in Northern Ireland. A party mentioned in a review is not consent to paint, and it is not a reason to ignore the age line.
