Haix safety shoes buying guide

Updated: 16 October 2026

You have been told to buy Haix for work in Britain, and the screen is a row of similar black boots. A Haix safety shoes buying guide has to settle the hazard before the basket. The [Haix safety shoes comparison](/hub/occupational-safety/haix-safety-shoes) holds the seven amazon.co.uk cards we kept, from £119.90 to £202.17. This page puts the checks in order: risk, class, range, then a card whose title and ASIN agree. The Products Compared editorial team read those cards, Haix's UK pages, and Health and Safety Executive guidance, and updated this page on 16 October 2026. We did not lab-test a pair. A qualifying amazon.co.uk purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the hazard, not the logo

Safety footwear is personal protective equipment, and it comes after other controls. The Health and Safety Executive says that where a risk assessment still needs PPE, suitable equipment is provided free of charge, including for limb (b) workers after the 2022 change in scope. Write down what that assessment names before you sort by price: a protective toe, a puncture-resistant sole, a water-resistant upper, or a shoe that is waterproof as a whole. Great Britain workplace PPE should be UKCA or CE marked, with instructions in English. That check does not choose a range. A dry warehouse aisle and a wet groundworks morning are different orders, and the letters on the tongue are how that difference is written.

Read the class before the range

EN ISO 20345 safety footwear has a toe cap tested to 200 joules and 15 kilonewtons. Haix's UK class FAQ then separates the letters. S3 includes a water-repellent upper and, in Haix's one line, metal puncture protection. S7 adds waterproofness of the whole shoe. S7S is that waterproof shoe with non-metal puncture protection. An older tongue can still read S3 plus WR. S3 on its own is the upper claim. Use S1 or S1P for lighter, drier work. Use S7 or S7S when water has to stay out of the shoe. The letter table is on S3 or S7 safety boots. Headings sometimes lag the specification: the 50 high is specified S7S while a heading still says S3, and none of those classes is printed on the seven Amazon titles. After the class, choose the family on Black Eagle versus Connexis.

Then check the amazon.co.uk card

Open a listing only when the class and the range are decided. On every card in this set, the address-bar ASIN differs from the details block. Two titles are only the brand. At £119.99 the block shows Unisex Kids, while the reviews describe adult work. Keep that card off a children's order. The titles that name a range still leave the class blank. The 61 Low says breathable and for summertime. The Eagle card does not say Black Eagle. The 50 High says high and black. The Connexis card says wedges. Match title, price, photo, and size on the page you are about to pay for. Length comes last. Use the Haix safety shoes size chart before you trust a review that says every Haix boot needs a size up.

What this guide will not decide

Comfort belongs on the comparison, beside the reviews. A lace lock that fails can decide which pair you keep. It cannot replace the class the assessment asked for. A prescribed insole is a question for a podiatrist or occupational health. DGUV 112-191 is a German insole test, and it is not UK law. None of the seven Amazon titles states S3, S7, Gore-Tex, or a toe material. When a heading says S3 and the specification says S7 or S7S, believe the specification, then the tongue.

Common questions

What should I check before the price?
Check the hazard in the risk assessment, then the class, then the range built for that class. These seven cards run from £119.90 to £202.17, and no title prints a class. A lower price on a brand-only title leaves puncture protection and waterproofing unanswered. Open the comparison after those three checks, and match the photo to the address-bar link, because every details block prints a different ASIN.
Is S1 enough in a dry warehouse?
S1, or S1P when you also need a puncture sole, is the lighter class for drier duty, if the assessment agrees. A dry warehouse aisle can be that job. The same shoe is the wrong class when the floor needs a water-resistant upper, or when the site wants the whole shoe waterproof. Connexis on the Haix shop is an indoor S1P example, and that article is marked no longer produced. The Amazon title in our set does not print S1P, so you still read the tongue.
When is an S3 boot the wrong economy?
S3 is the wrong economy when the assessment wanted the whole shoe waterproof and the upper is only water-repellent. Haix's FAQ puts that step on S7, and on S7S when the puncture piece is non-metal. S3 is also a heavy choice where S1 would have matched a dry store. An older boot marked S3 plus WR is separate, because WR was the previous waterproof add-on. Read the whole mark, including that add-on when it is there.
Does my employer have to pay?
Where the assessment still requires PPE, the Health and Safety Executive says the employer provides suitable equipment free of charge, including safety footwear. The 2022 amendment brought limb (b) workers into scope. Suitable includes the class and a fit you can work in. It does not force you to buy one Haix card yourself. If the employer issues the boots, the class should be on the pair, not guessed from a review.
Why do these Amazon pages show two ASINs?
On each of the seven cards, the ASIN after dp/ differs from the ASIN in the details block. Examples include B0CVNMLNKY on the £119.90 card, B0CBHRFS69 on the Eagle card, and B018RYNM46 on the 50 High. Two identifiers mean you confirm title, price, photo, and size before you pay. They do not prove that the shop class has been attached to the page. If those four items disagree with the details block, stop.
