Best heavy duty castors for the job in front of you

Updated: 22 October 2026

Star lines in this amazon.co.uk group sit in a tight band, mostly 4.6 to 4.7, and that band does not tell you whether two corners lock or four. You want one set for a cabinet, a bench you roll, a machine that has to sit still, or a gate. The twelve prices and the conflicts live on our [heavy duty castors comparison](/hub/lifting-equipment/heavy-duty-castors). Figures below are the listings read on 19 October 2026. Products Compared did not lab-test these sets. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

For a cabinet or planter

A light cabinet wants a short castor and an agreed load line. The DSL 50 mm set at £8.99 says 50 kg each and 200 kg on the specification, at 71 mm overall. UK reviews say two of the four lock. The DSL 75 mm set at £11.99 says 90 kg each and 360 kg. HOLKIE at £13.99 has the title and the specification both saying 400 kg, at 72.8 mm. How to read a load line is the heavy duty castors buying guide.

For a bench you roll

The two DSL 100 mm packs state 700 kg, 135 mm overall and a 92 mm by 63 mm plate. Two brakes are £18.49, the best value when two locks are enough. Four brakes are £19.96, the top pick when every corner has to lock. Both show 4.7 from 2,360, with matching opening texts. The WEIBIDA 5 inch polyurethane set at £32.99 says 4 brakes. The bullet says up to 1400 lb and the specification prints 6.3E+2 kg. Overall height is not stated.

Rows that do not make this shortlist

Three rows do not make this shortlist. MSH&HCE at £27.99 says 600 lb each in the bullet and 150 pounds in the specification. TXMXT at £29.99 has no star line on the listing. The WEIBIDA 2 inch nylon set at £39.99 prints 2200 lb, 1E+3 kg and 250 kg. Keystone lists a 150 mm braked polyurethane castor at £176.95 excluding VAT, rated 730 kg each, which is one industrial castor rather than a four-pack under £40.

When the bench must sit still, or the job is a gate

The WEIBIDA levelling set at £46.99 drops a rubber foot after it rolls. The bullet says 1000 kg and the specification says 997.9 kg. The height band is only 8 cm to 9 cm. The ZOGPLG listing at £18.99 is one 4 inch spring gate wheel, stated at 100 kg, with 3.8 from 7 reviews. Press the spring in as you fit it. It is not a set of four.

Common questions

Which set is for a light cabinet?
The DSL 50 mm set at £8.99, if 50 kg each covers about a third of the loaded cabinet and you can live with two locks. The DSL 75 mm set at £11.99 raises that to 90 kg each and about 100 mm of height. HOLKIE at £13.99 is the twin-wheel option when you want the title and the specification to say the same 400 kg. None of the three is the pack for a steel bench you push over a step.
Two brakes or four on the DSL 100 mm?
Four, at £19.96, when the bench must not swing and you accept shared reviews. Two, at £18.49, when you park it and two locked corners are enough. Both state 700 kg, 135 mm overall and a 92 mm by 63 mm plate. Both show 4.7 from 2,360, with the same opening texts. The £1.47 gap is the price of the extra two brakes in these prices, not a second test result.
Which listing should I skip because the numbers disagree?
MSH&HCE at £27.99, where the bullet says 600 lb each and the specification says 150 pounds. The WEIBIDA 2 inch nylon set at £39.99, which prints 2200 lb, 1E+3 kg and 250 kg. TXMXT at £29.99, which has a 1100 lb set line and no star line on the listing. A high star count does not repair a page that states two capacities.
When is the levelling set the right one?
When the unit is low and you want a rubber foot on the floor instead of a nylon wheel. The WEIBIDA set at £46.99 adjusts only from 8 cm to 9 cm. The bullet's 1000 kg and the specification's 997.9 kg are close. It is the wrong buy if you needed a 100 mm castor you can roll across a threshold, or a pedal you can reach with your toe while you work.
Is the £18.99 gate wheel a bench castor?
No. It is one spring-loaded 4 inch wheel, stated at 100 kg, with 44 mm of spring travel. The listing tells you to compress the spring as you fit it. A bench wants a set of four plate castors with a load line you can read twice. A gate wants this sort of wheel at the low point of the ground, and even then a review in this set says the wheel lifted the gate.
Is a 4.7 star score a test win?
No. The 4.7 lines are amazon.co.uk review scores, and Products Compared did not laboratory-test these sets. The two DSL 100 mm ASINs share 4.7 from 2,360 and the same opening texts, so that number is not two independent results. Read the brake count and the load lines after the stars. TXMXT at £29.99 has no review line on the listing, which is why it stays off the shortlist until a tread and a star line appear.
