Genuine Makita blower or compatible

Updated: October 2026

A body at about £25 on amazon.co.uk looks like the Makita you decided not to pay for, until the brand is not Makita and the only line is a speed. A genuine Makita blower or a compatible one is a purchase fork. Buy the compatible body when you already own LXT packs and the job is dust or a short dry path. Buy the genuine high-volume body when the lawn is the job. The table is the [Makita leaf blower comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/makita-leaf-blower). Two different products

The eleven listings are third-party housings sold for Makita 18 V packs. KATSU, ZDOZITZ, Waitley, Pulituo, ConBlom, HOIIME, OHAISFELA and CICZ are the names on the pages. None of them is a DUB184 or a DUB186. The shoe may be LXT-shaped, which is why UK reviewers say their packs click. The parts drawing, the warranty and the published air volume do not transfer because the pack fits. A compatible blower is not the same decision as a knock-off battery. Makita warns that non-genuine packs in Makita tools can affect the warranty and describes a burst and fire risk. A cheap pack in a real Makita tool is that warning. A blower body is a different object. Pack codes are on the battery fit page.

Volume is the gap

Makita UK prints pairs. The DUB184 is 52.1 m/s and up to 13.0 m³/min, with LwA 95 dB(A). The long-nozzle model is 68 m/s and 3.2 m³/min, the DUB186 figure amazon.co.uk also prints. A higher speed with a smaller volume is normal inside Makita’s own range, so a kilometres-per-hour title cannot stand in for 13 m³/min. The DUB362, the twin-pack tool, is 54 m/s and up to 13.4 m³/min. KATSU 102762 says 2.5 m³/min. ZDOZITZ says up to 2.8 m³/min. Pulituo’s two-battery bullets say 280 m³/h, about 4.7 m³/min if you divide by 60, beside 242 km/h. The Waitley YN8010 prints 169 km/h and 197 km/h and no volume. The HOIIME title says 550 km/h, which was not measured here. The OHAISFELA title says 500 CFM, about 14 m³/min if converted, and one UK review doubts the advertised 150 mph.

When the cheap body is enough

Use a compatible body for garage dust, a short dry path or a patio, when the LXT packs are already on the shelf. The Waitley YN8010 at about £29.99 is 4.2 from 537 reviews. One UK reviewer who owns a Makita says it is close for small areas, with less range and a harder grip. That is one comment, not a measured throw. The KATSU 102762 at about £16.99 is the dust price, 4.2 from 297 reviews, with a weak-jet complaint and one early stop. Those early-failure notes are anecdotes, not rates. Skip the cheap body when the leaves are wet and spread out. The best Makita leaf blower page names who should skip each row. The buying guide keeps the order: pack, box, volume, then speed.

Packs are a separate choice

If you own no batteries, price the kit before the body at about £17. The DUB184RT was about £237.98 in this capture, with a 5.0 Ah pack and a charger. A bare compatible tool still needs a pack and a UK 3-pin charger. The DUB186Z page had no featured Amazon offer. Do not invent one. Gardeners’ World’s 2026 round-up prints £84.99 RRP and £86.98 at Toolstation. Howe Tools listed a DUB362Z body at £197 including VAT. Two batteries in a Pulituo carton are spare packs, or a claim of spare packs. They are not Makita’s 18 V x2 motor on the DUB362. The Pulituo voltage cell still says 20 V beside an 18 V title. Buy the genuine high-volume body when the only number on the other listing is a speed.

Common questions

Is a blower for Makita batteries a Makita?
No. The phrase describes the shoe the seller claims, not the brand of the tool. The eleven bodies here are KATSU, ZDOZITZ, Waitley, Pulituo, ConBlom, HOIIME, OHAISFELA and CICZ. A DUB184 or DUB186 is a Makita model with Makita’s published air volume. A pack that clicks does not transfer the name, the parts list, or the tool warranty.
When is the DUB184 or DUB186 the right buy?
When the leaves cover a lawn and you need a published volume, not a speed title. Makita UK’s DUB184 is up to 13 m³/min. The DUB186 is 3.2 m³/min at a higher speed, which Gardeners’ World has used as a path tool. We did not repeat that test. The DUB184RT kit was about £237.98 with a pack and charger. The bare DUB186Z had no featured amazon.co.uk offer in this capture.
Does 242 km/h mean the same as 13 m³/min?
No. Speed is how fast the air leaves the nozzle. Volume is how much air moves. Makita prints both, and its own range shows a faster model with less volume: 68 m/s and 3.2 m³/min against 52.1 m/s and 13 m³/min. A Pulituo title at 242 km/h does not equal the DUB184. Convert units if you want, and still call the result a listing claim.
Does Makita’s knock-off warning ban these blower bodies?
No. The warning is about non-genuine batteries used in Makita tools, including warranty and a described fire risk. A Waitley or KATSU housing is a different object. It is not approved as a Makita tool, and it is not forbidden by that battery note. Putting a knock-off pack into your real Makita blower is the case the warning describes.
Is the DUB362 the same as the two-battery Pulituo?
No. The DUB362 runs two 18 V packs at once and Makita UK prints up to 13.4 m³/min for it. A Pulituo two-batteries claim is two packs in the box, or a review telling you to own a spare, on a single-shoe body whose cell says 20 V. Spare packs extend time. They do not turn the tool into an 18 V x2 Makita.
