Makita leaf blower buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You already own a Makita 18 V LXT pack, or you are about to price one. Amazon.co.uk results for a Makita leaf blower run from about £16.99 to about £79.99, and most of those boxes do not contain a battery. A kilometres-per-hour title is not the air volume Makita UK prints on a DUB184. This Makita leaf blower buying guide is the order of checks before one of the eleven listings goes in the basket. The [Makita leaf blower comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/makita-leaf-blower) holds the table. This page does not name a winner. Prices are shelf figures from 22 October 2026. Products Compared did not run a blower test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What you already own

Start with the pack in your hand. An LXT slide pack with a B-series code, such as BL1830B, BL1850B or BL1860B, is the family these pages name. A G-series pack, such as BL1815G, is a different Makita battery. The Waitley YN8010 bullets exclude BL1813G, BL1815G and BL1820G, and a UK reviewer says a G-series pack does not run the tool. If yours is G-series, the title will not turn the body into an LXT tool. If you own no packs, about £16.99 is not a working blower. You still need a pack and a charger with a UK 3-pin plug. The genuine DUB184RT kit was about £237.98 on amazon.co.uk in this capture, with a 5.0 Ah pack and a charger. That fork is on the genuine or compatible page.

Tool only or a kit

Read the box line before the speed line. KATSU, ZDOZITZ, both Waitley listings, HOIIME, OHAISFELA, CICZ, and the ConBlom highlight are tool-only or say the battery is not included. The ConBlom highlight says no battery, and the included-components cell says a battery and a bag. A UK reviewer paid return postage because the battery was missing. Two Pulituo styles state power in the box. The one-battery style, at about £39.77, says a battery and a charger. The two-battery style, at about £49.99, says two 2.0 Ah packs and a fast charger. Both voltage cells say 20 V while the titles say compatible with a Makita 18 V battery. A bullet says a Makita pack needs the matching Makita charger. The two ASINs share one review text and one 3.9-from-120 star line, so count that sample once.

Volume before speed

Makita UK prints pairs, not a single headline. The DUB184 is 52.1 m/s and up to 13 m³/min. The DUB362, on two packs at once, is 54 m/s and up to 13.4 m³/min. The DUB186Z page states 68 m/s and 3.2 m³/min, so a higher speed can sit on a smaller volume. A title that says 242 km/h is a speed claim, not 13 cubic metres a minute. KATSU 102762 says 2.5 m³/min. ZDOZITZ says up to 2.8 m³/min and also 0–10 m/s. The Pulituo two-battery bullets say 280 m³/h, about 4.7 m³/min if you divide by 60. The Waitley YN8010 prints 169 km/h and 197 km/h and no volume. The HOIIME title says 550 km/h, which was not measured here.

What not to use as a ranking

The star line is a sample, not a garden test. The Waitley YN8010 is 4.2 from 537 reviews. The KATSU pair are 4.2 from 297 and from 237. The CICZ is 4.7 from 42 reviews with two United Kingdom blocks, and the OHAISFELA is 4.8 from 12. A higher average on a dozen ratings does not outrank 537 ratings at 4.2. Conditional rows live on the best Makita leaf blower page. None of the eleven prints an LwA sound-power figure. Pulituo’s cell says 65 decibels with no weighting, and Makita UK prints LwA 95 dB(A) on the DUB184. Those numbers are not comparable. Pack codes are on the battery fit page.

Common questions

Does “for Makita” mean a battery is in the box?
No. On these amazon.co.uk listings, “for Makita” describes the shoe, not the contents. KATSU, ZDOZITZ, Waitley, HOIIME, OHAISFELA and CICZ say the battery is not included. Only the two Pulituo styles state a battery and a charger, and their voltage cell still says 20 V. If the highlight says tool only, budget for a pack you already trust.
Is about £16.99 the cost of a working blower if I own no packs?
No. The KATSU 102762 at about £16.99 is a body and a collection bag. The bullets say no battery and no charger. A working set still needs an LXT pack and a charger with a UK plug. The DUB184RT kit was about £237.98 in this capture, with a 5.0 Ah pack and a charger.
Why do two bullets on the Waitley YN8010 give 169 km/h and 197 km/h?
Both numbers are on the same listing. The page does not say which nozzle or speed step produced either figure, and it does not state air volume. Use them as conflicting claims, not as a range anyone here verified. The item weight also disagrees with itself: 1.4 kg in the cell and 1.2 kg in a bullet.
Is the Pulituo 20 V cell the same as Makita 18 V?
The listing does not say they are the same. The title says compatible with a Makita 18 V battery. The voltage cell says 20 volts, and the two-battery bullet describes 20 V 2.0 Ah packs. A further bullet says a Makita pack needs the matching Makita charger. This page does not treat 20 V as a marketing peak for an 18 V pack, because the listing never says that.
What noise number am I allowed to compare?
Only numbers that use the same kind of label. Makita UK prints a guaranteed sound power, LwA, of 95 dB(A) on the DUB184. None of the eleven prints an LwA. Pulituo’s “65 decibels” cell does not say LwA or dB(A). The outdoor noise rules require the label on a leaf blower. They do not set a legal maximum, and a council complaint in England is a nuisance question.
