Heidenfeld infrared heater buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You searched amazon.co.uk for a Heidenfeld infrared heater and the grid mixed patio tubes, carbon towers and flat panels from other brands. A Heidenfeld infrared heater buying guide has to start there. On 20 October 2026 the only Heidenfeld-branded infrared listing found was the outdoor IH100, ASIN B0BGXVCRC2, and it was marked currently unavailable. None of the eleven heaters in the [Heidenfeld infrared heater comparison](/hub/heating/heidenfeld-infrared-heater) is an HF-HP panel. Use this page to choose a type, then a wattage, then a control set. Prices are GBP. Peter F. checked the listings. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. What Heidenfeld sells and what this Amazon set contains

Heidenfeld’s own range, as continental retailers describe it, covers wall and ceiling panels, picture and mirror faces, patio heaters and a few hybrids, often with long warranty language. That catalogue is not what Amazon UK was showing as in-stock Heidenfeld panels. Every row here is an alternative you can basket, not the same heater with a different sticker. A non-infrared convector was dropped because it answers a different search. The IH100 tripod is the outdoor reference, with IP20 and stepped output on its amazon.co.uk page, and you cannot check it out today. Indoor stand-ins are the Könighaus Smart Dual panels, a Hocosyme 1000 W panel with a 10–25 m² claim, and a Byekalt 1000 W panel with a TÜV line in the title. Portables are Warmlite and SONBION. Patio substitutes are Harrier, Devola and three SOUTHEATIC listings. If the brand field is not Heidenfeld, you are not buying Heidenfeld’s warranty wording.

Choose an indoor panel, an outdoor patio heater or a portable halogen

These three types do not swap. A panel is a flat face on a wall, on feet, or, for Hocosyme, toward the ceiling, and it warms what sits in its line of sight. A patio heater is a tube or bar for a gazebo, with an ingress mark for weather, not for a bedroom. A carbon or quartz tower is a plug-in you move between a desk and a chair. A box room you work in for three hours suits the 450 W Könighaus at about £99.90, with feet, a remote, Wi-Fi and a towel rail, better than a 2000 W Harrier at about £48.99. The Harrier is cheaper and has 4.4 from 342 outdoor reviews, and its listing is outdoor, with IPX4 in the bullets. Bringing it inside fights the clearance rules Electrical Safety First gives for portable heaters. The other way round fails too: a Warmlite tower at about £56.46 will not heat a dining table in the wind. One pick per job is on the best Heidenfeld infrared heater page.

Match watts to the room and to line of sight

Watts are the draw at the socket, not a promise of an even floor. Government user-experience work on infrared heating stresses line of sight: you feel the panel in its view, and much less when a sofa or a doorway puts you outside that cone. There is no statutory UK watts-per-square-metre figure for a plug-in panel in the sources behind this guide. Marketing bands are not that figure. Hocosyme’s 10–25 m² claim beside 1000 W is one seller’s band, at about £149.99, and the extract has no star line to test it. Könighaus prints no square metres on the 450 W or 800 W files. Reviewers of the 450 W model, 3.8 from 582, describe a desk or one occupied spot, not an open-plan room. One comment on the 800 W file (about £169.90, 4.1 from 159) says that output still suited a small room. A 2000 W patio bar is for people outdoors under cover, not a 10 m² bedroom. At an illustrative 26 p/kWh that draw is about 52 p an hour. Why a thermostat does not change the unit rate is on the running cost page.

Controls, IP ratings and when to call an electrician

Controls change how many hours you pay for, not the wattage. Könighaus Smart Dual listings include a thermostat, a remote, Wi-Fi and a towel rail. SOUTHEATIC patio units are sold with remote and timer language in this set. SONBION is a two-step halogen at about £39.95 (4.2 from 511). App readings on the 450 W model are a recurring complaint, not a whole-room thermometer. How that panel sits next to an HF-HP is on the Heidenfeld vs Könighaus page. IP ratings are location claims, not a wiring design. IP65 on a Devola or SOUTHEATIC patio listing is sheltered outdoor water, not a shower zone. IP44 on a Könighaus panel, even with a bathroom bullet, is not a zone diagram. BS 7671 Section 701 sets bathroom zones. IPX4 equipment may be allowed in zone 1 only when it is permanently wired. In England and Wales, new fixed bathroom wiring is Part P work for a registered electrician, as is a new outdoor circuit or a failed tip-over switch. A TÜV line on the Byekalt title is not a UK comparative test and not a Part P certificate.

Common questions

Are any of these listings actually Heidenfeld?
No panel in the comparison table is Heidenfeld. The only Heidenfeld infrared listing found on amazon.co.uk was the IH100 outdoor heater, ASIN B0BGXVCRC2, and it was unavailable when this set was researched on 20 October 2026. Könighaus, Harrier, Devola, Warmlite, SONBION, Byekalt, Hocosyme and SOUTHEATIC are separate brands. Buy them as substitutes, and read the brand field on the live page before you pay.
How many watts do I need for about 10 m²?
There is no official UK watts-per-square-metre rule for these plug-in heaters. Hocosyme prints a 10–25 m² claim next to 1000 W. The 450 W Könighaus has no square-metre line, and reviewers describe a desk or one occupied spot rather than an open-plan room. If you sit in a small room in line of sight of the panel, compare 450 W with 1000 W. A 2000 W patio heater is the wrong tool for that bedroom.
Do I need an electrician?
A plug-in heater on an existing UK socket, kept clear of fabrics, does not need a new circuit. You do need a registered electrician for new fixed wiring, for a bathroom zone under BS 7671, and for outdoor circuits. Part P covers fixed electrical work in bathrooms in England and Wales. IP44 or IP65 printed on a listing is not that certificate.
Can I use a patio heater indoors?
Do not. Harrier, Devola and the SOUTHEATIC rows are outdoor listings. Patio heat is directional and hot at the tube, and indoor clearances, curtains and bedrooms are the wrong setting. Electrical Safety First advises portable heaters off extension leads and away from soft furnishings. Use a panel or a room tower indoors, and keep patio models under cover outside.
What does IP44 mean for a bathroom?
IP44 on the Könighaus listing means the page claims splash protection and names the bathroom among room types. It does not show which BS 7671 zone the panel may enter, and it does not replace permanent wiring rules. Portable heaters are not the zone 1 answer. If you want a fixed heater in a bathroom, ask a registered electrician before you drill.
