Sordin X2 vs Pro-X: which platform to buy

Updated: 21 October 2026

You have already decided on Sordin, and the remaining choice is the platform. Sordin X2 vs Pro-X is not a choice between two colours of the same muff. The six amazon.co.uk listings in the [Sordin ear defenders comparison](/hub/hearing-protection/sordin-ear-defenders) do not share one SNR, one battery, one warranty or one earplug certificate. By the end you should know when the X2 gel listing is the one to buy, and when a Pro-X listing in the same folder still fits. Shelf prices are the amazon.co.uk figures in that set. Peter F. checked them on 21 October 2026. We did not lab-test either family. A purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

They are not one muff

Three listings are X2. The gel leather headband is £349.00, B0GQ4W68J6, and the title prints SNR 29 and NRR 23, with 4.3 from 19 ratings. The neckband is £322.49, B0G5Z4LP91, 3.4 from 10, with no SNR. The leather-strap X2 is £322.49, B0G5YXTNJZ, 4.2 from 17, also with no SNR. Bluetooth is a different X2 and is not in this set. Three listings are Pro-X. The LED is £318.94, B0FTVN3D9B, EN 352, gel, 4.4 from 881, and no SNR on the title. The green gel cups are £332.00, B07NJ6LJC7, SNR 25, 330 g, a 5-year line and 4.4 from 670. The Slim is £306.90, B0BHHFHB1S, foam, EN 352, no SNR, 4.3 from 37. Selling both families does not make the ratings interchangeable. Ex-VAT dealer prices are not these shelf prices.

Rating, plugs and the impulse test

On Sordin’s pages the X2 states SNR 29, with impulse noise tested and dual protection certified with Sordin Softear plugs. Pro-X dual protection is marked no. SNR 40 is that named pair, not a plug SNR added to a muff SNR. The textile Pro-X page states SNR 28 and marks impulse noise tested as no. The LED and Slim pages state SNR 27. A neckband Pro-X page drops to SNR 24. Only the £349 X2 title prints SNR 29. The green Pro-X prints SNR 25, not SNR 28. The LED and Slim titles print EN 352 and stop. The gel X2 is the listing in this folder on the impulse-test and plug certificate. Range steps are on Sordin ear defenders for shooting.

Battery, warranty and the lamp

The X2 runs on one AA. Sordin says up to 60 hours. Later bullets have said about 70, and about 100 on a rechargeable cell. Do not average them. The warranty page gives the X2 series 2 years, and that line is not on the gel amazon title. Pro-X pages claim about 400 hours, not a 600-hour dealer line. The warranty page gives Pro-X 5 years, and the green listing prints 5 years. A longer warranty is not a higher SNR. The LED lamp sits in the left cup and times out after about three minutes. Changing HEAR2 profile does not change the SNR on either family.

When to buy which

Choose the X2 gel at £349.00 for printed SNR 29, the impulse-test flag and the Softear certificate, and accept 4.3 from 19 ratings. Choose the neckband only when a hat needs the crown free. Choose the leather-strap X2 when that band is the one you will wear and the rating is in the leaflet. Neither thinner X2 is Bluetooth. Choose the LED at £318.94 for the lamp if EN 352 with no SNR is acceptable. Choose the green Pro-X at £332.00 for SNR 25 printed on the listing. A UK review on 9 December 2025 found that band tight, which is the Slim at £306.90. Who should leave the LED is on best Sordin ear defenders.

Common questions

Which platform has the higher SNR on Sordin’s own pages?
The X2 page states SNR 29. A textile Pro-X page states SNR 28, the LED and Slim pages SNR 27, and a neckband Pro-X page SNR 24. The green amazon listing prints SNR 25. Higher depends on the headband, not on the family name.
Which one is certified to wear plugs underneath?
The X2, with Sordin Softear plugs. Sordin’s comparison block marks that dual protection as yes on the X2 and no on the Pro-X. A datasheet SNR of 40 is that named pair. The Pro-X LED, the green cup and the Slim do not gain that figure because you put plugs under them. This page only records which platform carries the certificate.
Why would you still buy a Pro-X?
For about 400 hours claimed, the 5-year warranty, the LED lamp, or SNR 25 printed on the green listing. The X2 claim is up to 60 hours on one AA, with a 2-year warranty line. Those reasons do not make a Pro-X title say SNR 29.
What battery does each family use?
The X2 listing uses one AA, included. Pro-X reviews describe two cells, and the green listing says batteries are included without naming the type. Do not treat a 600-hour dealer line as Sordin’s Pro-X figure. Seat the cells before you call a new pair faulty.
How long is the warranty?
Sordin’s warranty page gives the Pro-X 5 years and the X2 series 2 years. The green amazon listing also prints 5 years. The X2 file here has no warranty line. Five years is not a higher SNR, and two years does not cancel a printed SNR 29.
Is the X2 in this set the Bluetooth model?
No. The gel X2 and the leather-strap X2 are described in reviews as the non-Bluetooth versions, with a 3.5 mm path rather than a phone link. A separate Bluetooth X2 exists and was outside this ASIN set. If a phone link is the requirement, none of these six listings is the parcel.
