Best snowflake multi tool

Updated: 24 October 2026

You are buying a flat steel plate as a present, or you want a model number you can match on a trade page, and the star lines pull towards whichever title shouts loudest. The best snowflake multi tool in this set depends on that job. Silver Hinshark is the top pick for a stocking filler, on the only large UK review sample. BGS 85880 is the best value row when you want a named model. Every row is on the [snowflake tool comparison](/hub/hand-tools/snowflake-tool). A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Peter F. wrote this on 22 October 2026 from amazon.co.uk listings. There was no lab test.

Two picks, two jobs

These plates are bought for two jobs. One buyer wants a gift that UK reviewers already call a stocking filler. The other wants a catalogue number, a GTIN and a grade on the Amazon text. Stars alone pick Hinshark and hide that the 5,330 ratings are one shared sample, mostly about presents, not workshop fasteners. The comparison score is listing arithmetic, not a lab score: stars, sample size, whether the page names steel plus an opener, a screwdriver and a hex or spanner opening, and a value band on the captured price. Silver Hinshark totals 90. BGS 85880 totals 76, with the higher value part once the top pick is set aside. Pack size and unbelievable weights are on the snowflake multi tool buying guide.

Hinshark silver, if you are buying a present

The silver Hinshark, GJ0020-SL-SET, is £7.99 in the saved listing, 80 g and 7.5 cm square, with a folded-size line that matches. The bullets name a key ring, a bottle opener, a small Phillips, a flat screwdriver and hex keys. Millimetres are not printed. The line is 4.6 from 5,330, and the same 50 UK texts sit on the black-and-silver ASIN. Count them once. Reviewers describe stocking fillers and light jobs in a drawer, a car or a toolbox. The same sample says it is awkward with arthritic hands and too heavy for a keychain. One buyer moved it to a carabiner. How heavy 80 g is on keys is snowflake tool keyring. Black-and-silver, GJ0021-MC-SET, is £10.79 and shares those texts. Dimensions disagree, 15.5 x 8 x 2.2 cm against about 5 x 10 x 2 cm, and pieces says 2 while items says 1. Buy it only if you want that colour.

BGS 85880, if you want a model number

BGS 85880, ASIN B0BG5577CZ, is £5.09 in the saved listing. It names a bottle opener, a Phillips, a slotted driver, an inner hex, a can opener, and a key ring with a short chain. The Amazon bullet says 2Cr13 and a sand-blasted finish. A ToolTeam page lists GTIN 4048769080037, sand-blasted stainless and about 94 g gross, and it does not print 2Cr13 or any hex size. Our file says 90 g. Neither weight is a test we ran. The line is 4.5 from 63. None of the 30 texts is marked United Kingdom. Locales include France, Germany, Sweden and Spain. Those reviewers call it a solid emergency piece, too heavy for everyday keys, with short openings, and not for very tight fasteners. One counted 17 functions rather than 18. The warranty sentence on the UK page is in German, 2 jahre herstellergarantie, and is not a confirmed UK policy. This is the best value pick when you want a model number and a GTIN, and you will not treat those texts as British.

Who should skip both

Skip both if the bolt is tight, recessed, small, or anything you would not want to round. The plate has no long arm, no ball end and no torque figure. Brakes, steering, wheel nuts and live electrics are the wrong job. BikeRadar's note is that most multi-tools are for emergencies, and a short hex will not do the work of a long workshop key. How to seat an opening, and when to stop, is how to use a snowflake multi tool. Skip the cheapest rows too. Zodazoqa at £3.79 prints sizes and is 1.0 from one rating with no review text, with 20 g against a 2.3 ounce bullet. CVNRCLP at £3.89 has no rating line and a 10 g weight. KTHZI at £5.99 is 4.7 from four ratings and is called a novelty. That sample is too small to displace either pick.

Common questions

Which snowflake tool should I buy as a present?
The silver Hinshark at £7.99 in the saved listing, 80 g and 7.5 cm square. The shared UK texts are stocking fillers and light jobs in a drawer, a car or a toolbox. Count 4.6 from 5,330 once. Hex sizes are not printed.
Which one has a model number I can check?
BGS 85880. The listing carries that number and a GTIN, names 2Cr13 on its own text, and was £5.09 in the saved listing. A ToolTeam page lists about 94 g gross and does not confirm the grade. The written reviews are not marked United Kingdom.
Is the black-and-silver Hinshark better than the silver one?
Not on these files. It is £10.79 against £7.99, shares the review texts, and the dimension lines disagree. Pieces says 2 and items says 1. Choose it only for that colour. It is not a separate top pick.
Are the BGS reviews from the UK?
The star line, 4.5 from 63, is the amazon.co.uk listing. None of the 30 texts is marked United Kingdom. Short openings and too much weight for keys come from other locales. Use them as a caution, not as British customers.
Who should not buy either pick?
Anyone who needs reach, a run from 1.5 mm, or a fastener that must not be rounded. Brakes, steering, wheel nuts and live electrics are outside what these plates claim. Zodazoqa prints sizes beside a 1.0 from one rating, which is still not best value.
Does a higher price mean a stronger tool?
No. Black-and-silver Hinshark at £10.79 shares the reviews of the £7.99 silver plate. Best value here is BGS 85880 at £5.09, for a model number you can check. The price is a captured shelf price, not a strength test.
