Tefal grill for a small kitchen

Updated: October 2026

You are trying to park a Tefal grill on a short worktop, with the kettle already there and a cupboard that still has to shut. A Tefal grill for a small kitchen is a footprint, a weight, and a cord problem before it is a steak problem. The Products Compared editorial team read the amazon.co.uk listings in this set on 15 October 2026, plus Tefal’s UK shop figure for the cord. Cooking comparisons sit on the [best Tefal electric grill](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/tefal-electric-grill/sub/tefal-electric-grill-best) page. Whether the box fits is the question here, and the listings are on the [Tefal electric grill comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/tefal-electric-grill).

The high-rated grill is the wide one

The OptiGrill+ XL is 4.7 from 2,766 reviews at £129.99, and UK reviewers call the body huge and the cord very short. The listing prints 36.5 × 44.5 × 17.5 cm and also 22.9 × 48.1 × 22.9 cm, at 5.2 kg. Measure the larger figure, because a depth near 48 cm uses most of a short run. The SuperGrill is listed at 37.8 × 43.7 × 17.5 cm. A vertical-storage line does not shrink it while it is hot, and UK reviews say the top plate sags on the hinge. If you have not chosen a contact grill, a plancha, or a table grill, that split is the buying guide.

Measurements that are actually in the listings

The GC3050 is the small contact body, at 32 × 32 × 14 cm and 4.13 kg. The amazon.co.uk scrape shows £109. A 32 cm square will sit where a 44 cm XL will not, and no cord length is printed. The OptiGrill+ is about 36.5 × 36.5 × 17.5 cm and 5 kg, with a 0.8 m cord on Tefal’s specification, though £155.55 is more than the larger Plus XL. The OptiGrill One is 22.7 × 40.4 × 22.7 cm and 5.44 kg, with 19 reviews, German button labels, and two UK reviews of a tripped supply. The Elite is 6.63 kg, with the same 0.8 m cord.

A 0.8 m cord and the socket

The cord you can cite is 0.8 m, from Tefal’s UK shop page for the Elite and from the OptiGrill+ specification. The amazon.co.uk files do not print a length. The plug has to reach a socket on the same stretch of wall. An extension lead is a weak repair. These grills are about 2,000–2,300 W, and Electrical Safety First treats a high-wattage grill on a shared or underrated lead as a fire risk. Vertical storage is a SuperGrill listing claim, not an OptiGrill+ XL claim. Once the body fits and the plug is British, preheat order is the how to use a Tefal OptiGrill page.

What to buy if the cupboard is the limit

Buy the GC3050 when 32 cm square is the only body that fits, then check the plug. A review dated 2 April 2017 says that UK delivery arrived with a German plug. Return a German plug rather than using a travel adaptor on a 2,000 W grill. Take the OptiGrill+ if programmes matter and 36.5 cm square is acceptable. Keep the Plus XL only when the depth near 48 cm still leaves room and a socket is within 0.8 m. A low plancha is not a smaller grill: the Booster is about 7.2 cm tall and about 55 cm deep. Common questions

How long is the OptiGrill cord?
Tefal’s UK shop page for the Elite GC750D40 prints a 0.8 m cord, and the OptiGrill+ specification prints 0.8 m as well. The amazon.co.uk listings in this scrape do not state a cord length. Reviewers of the Plus XL only say the cord is very short, which is not a figure you can plan a kitchen from. The GC3050 has no cord length in these sources.
Can I use an extension lead with a short cord?
Move the grill to the socket rather than adding a lead. These machines are listed around 2,000–2,300 W, and Electrical Safety First warns that a high-wattage grill on a shared or underrated extension lead is a fire risk. Use a wall socket beside the worktop, ventilate, and unplug when you finish. If the only socket is across the room, this grill does not fit that layout.
Does the SuperGrill store upright?
The SuperGrill listing claims vertical storage. The OptiGrill+ XL listing does not, so do not stand the XL on its end because another model mentions a cupboard. The SuperGrill body is still 37.8 × 43.7 × 17.5 cm, and reviewers call it huge. Upright storage can clear the counter after cooking. It does not make the grill narrow while it is hot.
Is the OptiGrill One a compact choice?
One side is narrower, at 22.7 × 40.4 × 22.7 cm and 5.44 kg, and that is not a reason to treat it as the small safe buy. The UK file has 19 reviews, German button labels on UK deliveries, and two reviews of a tripped supply, including on a replacement. A slimmer listing does not answer a plug that takes out the circuit.
What if the plug is not British?
Do not cook on it. A UK plug is a fused BS 1363 three-pin on 230 V mains. A review on the GC3050’s amazon.co.uk listing, dated 2 April 2017, says that delivery had a German plug, and that one review is not every unit sold now. Return a wrong plug through the seller. A travel adaptor is a poor stand-in on a grill around 2,000 W.
