Outdoor pizza oven buying guide

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are about to pay for a compact outdoor cooker, and amazon.co.uk lists gas, pellets, wood, charcoal and one mains box under the same search. This outdoor pizza oven buying guide puts the fuel connection and a stone that fits ahead of any brand story. The [patio oven comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/patio-oven) holds the nine saved prices and the table. You leave with a shortlist shape, not a named winner. Peter F., DIY and tools editor, used those listings and public UK sources, not a lab cook. Prices are GBP. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Fuel and the UK connection

Start with how the oven will burn. That decides the bottle, the hopper or the socket. Gas needs the regulator and hose for that oven. Specialist UK makers treat 37 mbar propane as the patio reference. A 50 mbar regulator is the wrong part. Patio gas is often a 27 mm clip-on. A larger cylinder is POL. Pellets need a hopper and outdoor space for ash. The mains row is the Cozze at 230 V and 2,200 W with a UK plug, still an outdoor cooker on the listing. Charcoal as a titled pair sits on Q Pizza. For bottle versus hopper, use gas vs wood pellet pizza oven. Do not adapt a barbecue regulator from the shed.

Size, stone and peel

A 12-inch title is not a promise that a 12-inch base will turn cleanly. A 33 cm stone is about 13 inches. The Mimiuo classic lists a 33 cm cordierite stone, the Mimiuo gas a 13-inch square stone, and NutriChef a 12-inch rotating cook. One UK Mimiuo gas review says a 12-inch base does not really fit, because the rear flame burns the near edge. Bullets often claim 10 to 15 minutes, then about a minute. UK gas and pellet reviews here more often say 15 to 30 minutes. Treat 60 seconds as a once-hot figure. If the yard is the limit, measure chimney height on pizza oven for a small patio.

Weight, kit and review depth

Much over 15 kg with the stone in is a two-person lift for many people, as a rule of thumb. The Cozze prints 20.2 kg. The Mimiuo classic prints 15.2 kg. DYUEE prints 1 kg and 10 kg, and 2,500 W with 240 V on a pellet oven. That is a bad attribute block, not a plug. WEELOO's bullets say pellets while the fuel field says charcoal and wood. A UK NutriChef review received aluminium, not the stainless the box suggested. The Cozze components line says Grill against a stone in the title. Goods Emporium lists peel, stone and rain cover. Several gas titles say UK regulator without a pressure. Q Pizza's 4.5 from eight is United States and Canada text, not a British consensus.

What to leave off this page

Do not run gas, pellets, wood or charcoal indoors, in a tent, under an awning or in a caravan. The NHS treats that as a carbon monoxide risk. GOV.UK says keep water nearby and empty ash only when cold. Retained Regulation (EU) 2016/426 is the Great Britain rule for gas appliances. A UKCA or CE mark is not a hose test. Call a Gas Safe engineer for a fixed pipe, a lingering gas smell, or a burned coupling. A UK socket needs a BS 1363 plug. GOV.UK allows an outdoor pizza oven in a smoke control area. A building chimney is the restricted case. That is not Defra approval. Ooni and Gozney sit outside this scrape, from about £299 on publisher pages, and those tests are not scores for these nine rows. Preheat and launch are on how to use a pizza oven.

Common questions

Gas, pellets, or electric: which question comes first?
Fuel and the UK connection come first. Gas needs that oven's regulator and hose at the right pressure. Pellets need outdoor space for ash and hopper top-ups. Electric in this set is the Cozze with a stated UK plug, still under outdoor wording. Size and stars only help after you know which of those three jobs you will actually do.
Is a 12-inch title the same as a 12-inch pizza that fits?
No. A titled diameter can still leave a tight stone once the crust expands and you need room to turn. One UK Mimiuo gas review says a 12-inch base does not really fit a 13-inch stone claim. Check peel width and opening height against the pizza you actually stretch.
What regulator fits a UK patio-gas bottle?
Specialist UK pizza-oven makers treat 37 mbar propane as the patio reference. Match the regulator pressure, the cylinder fitting (often a 27 mm clip-on on patio bottles) and the hose clips. A 50 mbar regulator from another market is the wrong part. The title saying UK regulator does not print the pressure on every listing in this set.
Why does a 4.6 from seven reviews not match a 4.2 from 388?
Both can be honest averages. Seven reviews cannot show the same spread of hose fires, dead ignitors, cracked stones and missing kit that a file of hundreds can. Read the review country as well: non-UK text is not British owner experience.
What has to be in the box?
At minimum you need a usable stone and a way to launch the pizza. Gas also needs a matching regulator and hose. A cover is useful outdoors but is not always listed. Compare the included-components line with the title; the Cozze file prints Grill against a stone in the title.
