Pizza oven stand: a metal top, a load, and peel space

Updated: 23 October 2026

The oven is on the patio, the peel is in your hand, and the support under it is a camping table bought for a disposable tray. A pizza oven stand has to carry the oven’s mass, stay put while the steel is hot, and leave a run beside the mouth so the peel can slide. A mesh top about 40 cm deep, and any glass garden table, fail that job. The [barbecue stand comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/barbecue-stand) lists every saved stand. The Products Compared editorial team read those amazon.co.uk listings and public UK sources on 21 October 2026, and did not run a lab test.

What a pizza oven stand has to survive

Ooni’s UK table pages say not to put a pizza oven on glass, because a glass top can crack. Mesh listings here are about 58–60 cm wide and about 40 cm deep, so a large oven fills the top and the peel has nowhere to run. Heat resistant on a mesh line is a coating phrase, not an oven rating. None of the nine cites BS EN 581. Onlyfire prints 40 kg. The MDDK cart and the Nomiou trolley print no kilogram limit. Mesh tables that print a load sit around 30 kg, which is the table’s claim, not a test with your oven on top. Ooni’s folding table, outside these nine rows, prints 50 kg in total: 35 kg on the top and 15 kg on the shelf.

The carts in this comparison

Onlyfire, B092VD4PTH, is about £159.99, with 4.3 from 77 ratings, at 120.3 × 55 × 81 cm. It claims 40 kg, with two front wheels and no stated lock. The material line says alloy steel, and United Kingdom comments mention arrival damage. At 55 cm deep it leaves a peel run a 40 cm mesh top does not. MDDK, B0F5Q1C8QH, is about £99.99, with 4.4 from 21 ratings, at 110 × 43 cm. It has two lockable swivel wheels and prints no kilogram limit. At 43 cm deep the peel still has little room. The Nomiou trolley, B0F13LBLZP, is about £69.99, with 3.7 from 76 ratings, about 51 cm deep, and no printed load. United Kingdom reviews say an Ooni fits once it is built, and they cite short screws and a dead QR code. Skip mesh tables at about £34.19 to about £45.95. Who should skip a row is on best barbecue stands.

After the stand is built

Set the cart outdoors on level ground, clear of sheds, fences, and trees. London Fire Brigade’s April 2024 leaflet says not on a balcony or on decking, and not indoors to cool. A stand does not change that. MDDK states two lockable swivel wheels. Onlyfire and the Nomiou trolley state two wheels and no lock. Count the fixings before the fuel goes on. Bolt order is on how to set up a barbecue stand.

If the oven shifts, or you want Ooni’s own table

If a weld or a wheel shifts under the oven, stop and cool the oven before you move the stand. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue flags the tip risk. Two wheels move a cold cart. They do not make a lit oven safe to roll. Ooni’s folding table is £179 on Ooni’s UK site and is not one of the nine amazon.co.uk listings. The 50 kg total, 35 kg on the top and 15 kg on the shelf, comes from the specification pages. It does not replace Onlyfire’s stated 40 kg, or the carts that print no load.

Common questions

Why should you not put a pizza oven on glass?
Ooni’s UK table pages say not to use glass under a pizza oven. A glass top can crack from the heat and from the oven’s point load, even after years of plant pots. A continuous metal top is the surface to use, though you still need a load figure and peel depth. The warning is about the table. It does not allow balcony, tent, or decking use.
What load figures exist, and which listings print none?
Onlyfire prints 40 kg. Ooni’s folding table, outside this set, prints 50 kg in total: 35 kg on the top and 15 kg on the shelf. Mesh tables that print a load sit around 30 kg, and that is the table’s claim, not an oven test. The MDDK cart and the Nomiou trolley print no kilogram limit. A blank is not a high figure.
Which saved carts are deep enough for a peel?
Mesh tables here are about 40 cm deep, so a large oven fills them and the peel has no run. Onlyfire is 55 cm deep, which is the most room in this set. The Nomiou trolley is about 51 cm deep, so it beats the mesh tables and is narrower overall. MDDK is 43 cm deep, close enough to 40 cm that lockable wheels do not create peel space. Depth still fails you when the page prints no load.
What did UK reviewers say about an Ooni on the Nomiou trolley?
United Kingdom reviews of the Nomiou trolley, B0F13LBLZP, say an Ooni fits once it is built. That is those reviewers’ report, not a check against a named model. They also describe short screws, missing nuts, and a QR code that will not open. The listing shows 3.7 from 76 ratings overall. It states painted steel and two wheels, and it states no kilogram limit, so a reported fit is not a load test.
Do two wheels mean you can roll a hot oven?
Two wheels mean a cold cart can be moved. They do not mean a lit oven can be rolled. Onlyfire states two front wheels and no lock. The Nomiou trolley states two wheels and no lock. MDDK states two lockable swivel wheels, which hold the cart still. London Fire Brigade says to cool a barbecue before you move it, and not to bring it inside to cool.
