4 burner gas BBQ buying guide

Updated: 23 October 2026

You have a cook for six or eight, and a trolley listing that leads with kilowatts. A 4 burner gas BBQ buying guide should show which lines on the amazon.co.uk page change the meal. Four main burners feed a crowd and give two heat zones. A 5 burner or 4+1 title usually means a side ring for a pan, which does not enlarge the grate. Prices and UK star lines are in the [4 burner gas BBQ comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/4-burner-gas-bbq). We read those pages on 20 October 2026 and did not cook on them. What a 4 burner trolley is for

BBC Gardeners' World puts four burners at the point where the crowd is six or more. Treat that as a planning figure, not a capacity test. Two pairs of controls let you keep one zone hotter than the other. If you usually cook for two on a small balcony, look at a two-burner or three-burner category instead. In this set the Original and the cover bundle are 126 cm wide, both Campfire listings are 129.5 cm wide, and the Pro Deluxe is 135 cm wide. You still need space clear of a fence or a shed. GOV.UK treats a gas barbecue as outdoor-only, including awnings, tents and caravans. When the crowd and the gap both fit, trust the printed cooking area next.

Grate and footprint before kilowatts

The stated cooking areas are 1,952 cm² on the Original and the cover bundle, 2,275 cm² on both Campfire listings, and 2,602 cm² on the Pro Deluxe at £269.99. Those centimetres are what you put food on. The Oopsiou listing, at £127.70, prints 58 × 39 cm in the title and 17.5 × 37 × 17.5 cm in the dimensions field, so you cannot mark a patio gap until one size is confirmed. Power lines on the other five disagree with another field on the same page. BS EN 498:2012 does not give a thermal-efficiency score to break the tie. Sort by grate, width and the UK review count.

Side burner, ignition, gauge and cover

A side burner is for onions or sauce in a pan. It does not add a fifth strip of grate. Five of the six listings claim one. The Oopsiou page does not. The Original states piezo. The Pro Deluxe states a gauge and does not name piezo. Reviews of the £169.99 Campfire report missing side-burner connectors. Only the cover bundle, at £219.99, names a 600D Oxford cover. That is £20 above the Original, for the same 1,952 cm² grate and a smaller sample, 4.1 from 160 against 4.4 from 1,036. A UK review describes severe rust after about seven months of light use with the cover on. Pay the difference if you want the fabric in the carton. The ring itself is on the 4 burner gas BBQ with side burner page.

The hose is a separate line on the receipt

On the Original, the Pro Deluxe and the cover model, the included-components field does not list a hose or a regulator, and UK reviews say a regulator was not in the box. Both Campfire bullets say the regulator and hose are not included. The Oopsiou page does not state a pressure. One Cadac clip-on hose set is listed at £25, an example rather than a price for every valve. None of the six pages prints the data plate, so a Propane Grills browse path is not a gas type. Match 37 mbar propane or patio gas, or 28–30 mbar butane, to the cylinder you own, using the plate once the trolley arrives. That match is the job of the gas BBQ hose and regulator page.

A short checklist

Confirm four main burners, and read 4+1 as a side ring. Write down one cooking area and one body width, and leave a page that prints two sizes. In this set, plan to buy the hose and regulator. When two prices are close, prefer the larger UK review count.

Common questions

How many people is a 4 burner gas BBQ for?
Gardeners' World uses six or more as a planning figure, not a headcount on these listings. On a narrow patio the 126 to 135 cm body is the limit you feel first. If that width does not fit, look at a smaller category.
Is 4+1 the same as five grill burners?
In this set, 4+1 means four burners under the hood and one side ring for a pan. A 5 gas burner title describes that same layout. The Original stays at 1,952 cm² either way. Count the ring only when a saucepan is part of the meal.
Which number matters more, kilowatts or cooking area?
Cooking area here matters more than kilowatts, then the UK review count. Those power fields contradict each other, and BS EN 498:2012 does not publish an efficiency score. Shop with the stated square centimetres, the width, and the star line.
How wide is a typical 4 burner trolley in this set?
The widths are 126 cm for the Original and the cover bundle, 129.5 cm for both Campfire listings, and 135 cm for the Pro Deluxe. Depth is about 48 to 54 cm. The Oopsiou page prints two sizes, so treat that one as unresolved.
Does the amazon price include a hose and regulator?
On these six listings, assume the price does not include a hose until the included-components line says so. CosmoGrill reviews say a regulator was missing, and both Campfire bullets say the hose is not included. Budget a regulator that matches the cylinder and the data plate.
Is a cover worth paying extra for at the listing stage?
Pay the extra when you want the 600D cover in the parcel, at £219.99 against £199.99 for the same stated grate and fewer reviews. A reviewer reported severe rust after about seven months despite that cover. The fabric keeps rain off, not a British winter off the steel.
