3 burner gas BBQ for a family garden

Updated: 23 October 2026

The family is four to six, the patio is a rectangle of slabs, and the new grill has to live there with a cover and a patio-gas cylinder of about 5–13 kg. Listings in this set still mention balconies, and a cupboard under the cart looks like a handy store. UK fire services say otherwise. A 3 burner gas BBQ for a family garden means level open ground and a cylinder kept outside, including between cooks. The six grills are in our [3 burner gas BBQ comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/3-burner-gas-bbq). A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Garden, not balcony

London Fire Brigade says not to use a barbecue on a balcony. Flames, sparks, and hot embers can spread to the building. The same guidance wants level ground, away from sheds, fences, and trees. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue states the balcony ban as well, and tells you to store the cylinder outdoors, not under the stairs. A product bullet does not override either service. GOV.UK says never to barbecue indoors, in a tent, under an awning, or in a caravan, and never to store a gas cylinder under the stairs. A small footprint does not make a balcony a permitted site. How you light the grill, once the patch is chosen, is on how to light a gas barbecue.

Footprints in this set

The CosmoGrill Wabaya is 112 × 53 × 103 cm and 20.5 kg, with two ABS wheels. Folded, the width given is 64.5 cm. Open, you need the full 112 cm plus room to stand at the front. The page names tanks of about 5–11 kg. The Onlyfire tabletop is about 60 × 35.5 × 36.5 cm and 15 kg, with folding legs and no wheels. It fits a boot or a small table if you can lift it cool and you already own a hose. The Onlyfire cart is 87.5 × 35.5 × 97 cm. B09YMP4X4W prints 115 cm wide and 18 kg, with depth given as both 45 cm and 43 cm. B0B1DN3R7J prints no size. Whether three burners feed Sunday is on the 3 burner vs 4 burner gas BBQ page.

Cover and winter

A cart that fits the patio still rusts in a British winter. Only Wabaya B0DCKK31SR, at about £219.99, puts a cover in the title. The included-components line does not list it, and one review says a cover was supplied. The black Wabaya at about £199.99 does not name a cover. The Onlyfire rows and both Modern Outdoor Living carts do not list a weather cover either. Painted and enamel steel weathers. One Onlyfire under a tin roof showed weathering within three months. Buy a cover when the title is silent, and fit it only when the metal is cool. Gas Safe Register says not to leave the cylinder connected when the grill is not in use.

Where the cylinder goes

Keep propane outdoors, upright, away from doors, drains, sun, and frost, and not below ground level or under the stairs. Calor’s indoor butane allowance for some heaters is not a rule for this propane barbecue. On the Wabaya, take the tank out of the cabinet before you light. The stated range is about 5–11 kg, so check a 13 kg bottle against that line. The Onlyfire cart’s wording is a 1 lb bottle and a 5/8 inch tail, not a UK patio-gas cylinder. The 37 mbar fitting is on the buying guide. For this garden, use a wheeled cart whose bullet includes a 37 mbar propane hose, and store the cylinder outside.

Common questions

Can you put one of these on a balcony because the listing says balcony?
No. London Fire Brigade and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue both say not to use a barbecue on a balcony, because fire can spread to the building. A product bullet does not cancel that. Lambeth and Croydon add local housing bans for some blocks. Use level open ground, away from fences, sheds, and trees.
How wide is the Wabaya with the tables folded?
The listing gives 64.5 cm with the tables folded, against 112 × 53 × 103 cm and 20.5 kg. Measure the patio with the tables open, because a cook uses that 112 cm. Two ABS wheels help you roll it once it is cool.
Which listing actually names a weather cover?
Only CosmoGrill Wabaya B0DCKK31SR puts a cover in the title, at about £219.99, and the parts list does not. One review says a cover was supplied. The other five listings do not name a weather cover. Buy one if the title is silent, and fit it only when the metal is cool.
Where do you keep a 5 kg or 13 kg patio-gas cylinder?
Store it outdoors, upright, away from doors, drains, sun, and frost, and not below ground level or under the stairs. The Wabaya page names tanks of about 5–11 kg, so a 13 kg bottle needs a check against that line. Disconnect it when you are not cooking.
Can the cylinder live in the cart cupboard while you cook?
Not on the Wabaya. The bullet says to remove the tank from storage before lighting. Do not treat the cabinet as a safe place to run the grill. On B09YMP4X4W a review says the other sides of the cupboard are open, so that space is not a sealed store either. Between cooks the cylinder belongs outside, disconnected, not in the cupboard under the stairs.
Is the tabletop the one that fits a car or a small patio?
Yes, if you can lift it. It is about 60 × 35.5 × 36.5 cm and 15 kg, with folding legs and no wheels. It suits a small table or a boot when you already own a fitting hose. There is no weather cover, and the fuel field is blank. Let it cool before you fold the legs.
