Heat resistant barbecue gloves: the checks before the stars

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are about to sort heat resistant barbecue gloves by the star line, and that line will not tell you the cuff, the pair count, or the wash. On this amazon.co.uk shelf of 20 October 2026 the twelve listings run from £6.49 to £29.99, and several titles share an 800°C line the saved listings never back with a BS EN 407 code. The [barbecue gloves comparison](/hub/grill-accessories/barbecue-gloves) is the grid. This page is the order of checks: the job, the hold, the centimetres and the pair, then the slogan, then the wash. Peter F. checked the listings on 20 October 2026. Start with the job, not the Fahrenheit

Turning sausages wants five fingers and a grip you can rinse. Lifting a grate, a chimney starter, or a log wants a cuff and a short hold, which is where the cowhide gauntlets earn their stiffness. Wet, greasy meat is the job the neoprene listing describes, not a reason to soak a leather glove and hope. Welding is a different standard, BS EN 12477, and none of these twelve shows that type. In this set the silicone-grip pairs are FSTIANXIA, Flintronic, yenlk, Beesgarden, Houbobo, and Primajor. The leather rows are vclpower, WZQH, RAPICCA's 16-inch cowhide, and Weber 17896. RAPICCA's 17-inch neoprene is the waterproof claim. Morsø is one right-hand suede glove for a stove, not a two-handed cook. Cowhide against silicone grip is set out on leather vs silicone BBQ gloves.

Read the centimetres and the pair count

Printed lengths, where the listing gives one, run from about 30 cm on the Flintronic to 43.2 cm on the RAPICCA neoprene. Houbobo, Beesgarden, FSTIANXIA, and Weber 17896 do not print a length. Do not fill that gap with about 14 inches. Pair count is a separate trap. Morsø's number of pieces is 1. WZQH's unit count is 1.0 and number of items is 1, while the title says gloves. vclpower's unit count is also 1.0. RAPICCA leather's included line says 1 pair. If you cook with both hands, a single right-hand glove leaves the other hand bare on the tongs. The rows that print no length are the ones you cannot check yet.

Put the temperature slogan last

Contact-heat level 4 under BS EN 407:2020 is 500°C for at least 15 seconds before the inside of the glove rises 10°C. It is not 800°C, and it is not 1,472°F, which is the same 800°C written in Fahrenheit. 932°F on the neoprene title is 500°C. Flintronic limits an open-flame line to 10 seconds. WZQH prints 350°C for a short time and tells you to move away if you feel heat. Weber 17896 and the Morsø glove print no degree at all. Weber's Premium aramid pair, tested to 250°C on Weber's own UK page, is a different product from ASIN B0813XXPBB. Do not paste that 250°C line onto the £27.53 leather pair. Beesgarden and Primajor say EN 407 without the six digits. That phrase is not level 4. None of these saved listings shows the code, so an 800°C title stays a claim. The levels, including what X means, are on EN 407 BBQ gloves.

Match the wash to this ASIN

Care is not one rule for every barbecue glove. RAPICCA leather says do not wash. Flintronic and the Morsø glove are a damp wipe. Weber 17896 and WZQH are hand wash, and WZQH's water fields also disagree (not waterproof, and water resistant). vclpower is the leather row that says a cold machine wash and air dry. Do not copy that line onto the other cowhide ASINs. Among the silicone-grip rows, FSTIANXIA, Beesgarden, and Houbobo say machine wash, while yenlk and Primajor mention both hand wash and machine wash. The neoprene pair is wipe, hand wash, and air dry. Once these checks are done, use best BBQ gloves UK when you want a person attached to a listing.

Common questions

What should you check before the star rating?
Check the job, then how long you will actually touch the hot thing, then whether you get a pair and a printed length. Stars come after that. FSTIANXIA's 4.7 is twelve ratings. WZQH's 4.7 is 26,149 ratings, and many of those texts are about gardening. Neither number is a cuff length, a care line, or a burn test.
Which listing is one glove, not a pair?
Morsø B00IM50T1A is one right-hand glove, 36 × 18 cm, at £19.00. The other hand stays bare. WZQH and vclpower also show a unit count of 1.0, so read the included-components line before you assume two gloves. RAPICCA leather is the cowhide row whose included line says 1 pair.
Which care line forbids a machine wash?
RAPICCA's 16-inch leather pair says do not wash. Weber 17896 and WZQH say hand wash. Flintronic and Morsø say wipe with a damp cloth. The neoprene pair is wipe, hand wash, and air dry. A machine is named on some silicone rows and on vclpower's cold wash, and that permission does not travel to the next ASIN.
Why is a 26,149-review gauntlet a weak barbecue signal?
WZQH's sampled UK reviews spend a lot of words on thorns, holly, and roses. The listing also names grill and fireplace use, and it prints 350°C for a short time, with a warning not to hold a heat source for long. The count shows a popular gauntlet. It does not show that those reviewers turned food on a kettle. Primajor's 4,151 reviews sit closer to oven and barbecue text.
When is a short cuff the wrong reach?
When you tip coals, lift a grate, or reach past a hot lid, a cuff that stops at the wrist leaves the forearm in the sparks. The rows here that print a length start around 30 cm and run to 43.2 cm. The awkward case is a listing with no length at all, or the single Morsø glove when the cook needs both hands on a chimney starter.
