Part circle sprinkler: what to match to your lawn

Updated: 23 October 2026

You have an outside tap, a hose, and a lawn that meets a path. A part circle sprinkler lets you water a wedge or a full circle and leave the paving dry, if the arc, the base, and the pressure agree. This page is the filter before the [sector sprinkler comparison](/hub/garden-watering/sector-sprinkler), which holds eight amazon.co.uk listings with prices in GBP. We read those listings and the review notes behind them. We did not run a lab test. By the end you should know whether you want an impact sled, a pattern head on a spike, or a two-head pack. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What a part-circle sprinkler is for

A part circle sprinkler, also sold as a sector sprinkler, throws water across an arc you set, then reverses or swings back. The stops, rings, or dials make that limit. A 360° spinner with no stops is a different tool, and so is a buried rotor. The wet shape is a wedge or a circle from where the head stands. A long rectangle is a poor job for that geometry, which is why sector sprinkler versus oscillating sprinkler is a separate page. Put the head in a corner bed, aim the near stop along the wall, and land the far drops on grass. Grüntek's listing runs from 30° to 360°, both FANHAO sleds from 20° to 360°, and Gardena's UK page for the Comfort 8141-20 states 25° to 360°.

Impact sled, pattern head, or a spike pack

An impact sled is a zinc head on a metal base. The heavier FANHAO base is £37.99 and 970 g. On that model, one UK review says the supplied fitting would not stay on a standard Hozelock connector. The line "up to 5,800 sq ft", about 540 m², is a claim several buyers did not see. A spike suits a border. Grüntek, at £22.78, uses a metal spike and two dials from 30° to 360°, with 4.2 from 4,367 reviews and a repeated stall. Cellfast 52-061, at £16.86, is plastic, and most of its 68 reviews are from outside the UK. Gardena Comfort 8141-20, at £25.55, spins one way when pressure is low. RESTMO at £20.39 is two heads, and a UK review says a second head on the same hose dribbles.

Pressure, connector, and the area claim

Area numbers mislead more often than star ratings. Grüntek says up to 452 m², Cellfast up to 346 m², and Gardena's title 75 to 490 m². None of that is a measurement on a British tap. Gardena UK support says this class starts at about 2.0 bar. Ofwat's guaranteed minimum is seven metres of static head, about 0.7 bar. A company can meet that minimum and the head can still refuse to reverse. Check the connector before you trust the area. Grüntek states a click connector and does not name Hozelock. Cellfast states a 13 mm inlet and no UK click brand. If the hose ends in an AquaStop, click it on with the water off. If the head stalls, use the low-pressure page.

What to leave for the other pages

This filter does not crown a winner. Who should buy the spike, the sled, or the £9.99 head is the best sector sprinkler page. Setting the trip, the stops, and the diffuser is the how-to page linked beside this guide. A temporary use ban is made by your water company. Section 76 of the Water Industry Act 1991 lets an undertaker ban watering a garden with a hosepipe. Thames Water’s notice from 23 July 2026 names sprinklers, and Ofwat describes a fine of up to £1,000. Read the notice for your postcode.

Common questions

Spike or sled for my soil?
Use a spike when the head must sit in a border or on a slope, which is what Grüntek reviewers describe for the metal stake. Use a sled when you want weight on the lawn and no hole in the turf. A thin spike still bends: LATERN reviews include a bent stake in hard ground.
Why do listings quote 452 m² or 5,800 sq ft?
Those are the sellers’ coverage claims, usually at a stated pressure, not the area your tap watered. Grüntek pairs “up to 452 m²” with 4 bar. FANHAO pairs “up to 5,800 sq ft” with 80 psi on the green sled, and buyers report a smaller patch. Treat the number as a ceiling on the box. Walk the wet edge on your own grass before you trust it.
Can I put two heads on one hose?
You can connect them, and the flow usually falls. RESTMO’s listing says coverage drops when several heads share one hose, and a UK review describes a dribble. Grüntek’s bullets claim a series connection, which is not two full patterns. LATERN reviews include pairs that would not run together. Run one head, note the throw, and only then add a second.
Will a brass click fitting lock a Hozelock AquaStop?
Not as a rule. On the heavier FANHAO, a UK review says the supplied fitting would not stay on a standard Hozelock connector. Another review on the same model says the brass quick-lock suited most of their hoses. Grüntek states a click connector without naming Hozelock. Fit yours at the tap, with the water off, and see if it holds before you set the arc.
What should I ignore if a hosepipe ban is on?
Ignore the area claim and the star rating until you have read your company's notice. A ban is set by the undertaker, not for every UK postcode. Thames Water's July 2026 notice names sprinklers, and Ofwat describes a fine of up to £1,000. If the notice covers you, the head stays in the shed.
