Best metal watering lance

Updated: 23 October 2026

You want one metal watering lance from this amazon.co.uk set, and a reason to leave the others. Best here means a job. Pots, a jet for the path, and a shower for compost are a different buy from baskets that only need a rose. The best metal watering lance in this set for that mixed job is the Restmo pistol at £25.99, with 4.4 from 487 reviews, not the highest star line. The [Metal watering lance](/hub/garden-watering/metal-watering-lance) table still shows all ten. Length, valve, and thread are on the [metal watering lance buying guide](/hub/garden-watering/metal-watering-lance/sub/metal-watering-lance-buying-guide). Set on 21 October 2026. It is not a lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Best for a mixed garden in this set

The default is the Restmo 48 cm pistol, listed at £25.99 and 500 g. The title says 48 cm and the dimensions say 42 cm, so expect a short wand, not a 90 cm reach. It names seven patterns, including shower, jet, and mist. The front trigger can be locked. Across 487 reviews the line is 4.4, the deepest file in the set. Buyers use it on container plants without the blast they got from a previous gun. Skip it when that job is wrong. If you only water seedlings, the single rose is the better match, and the pistol's pin jets clog in the same reviews. If the bracket is well above your shoulder, buyers of the short Restmo still say 42–48 cm is not enough. The listing prints NPT and BSPT on one page, so the click is unproved until you tug it. If the last lance cracked, read metal vs plastic watering lance before you assume the metal shaft is the whole repair.

When the rose or a longer shaft wins

The top pick on star share in this comparison is the Restmo rainfall lance at £29.74, with 4.5 from 97 reviews. Every length line says 61 cm, and the head is one 585-hole aluminium rose with a thumb lever. Reviewers describe a wide fine spray that does not strip compost. Buy it when the work is baskets, seedlings, and pots, and you will not miss a jet. Basket technique is on the watering lance for hanging baskets page. Hozelock's basket note says rose rather than jet. Choose the fixed 94 cm Restmo, at £32.29 and 4.4 from 116 reviews, when the problem is reach rather than softness. The title is 94 cm, the dimensions are 91.5 cm, and the shaft does not telescope. Reviews say a plastic Hozelock click did not fit, and AquaStop connectors failed for a buyer who tried three.

What the pistol still gets wrong

The 48 cm Restmo is the deepest file, not a clean bill of health. Pin jets clog, and one buyer treats the head as a one-season part. A rotating head started leaking after about three months. On another unit the flow-control knob did nothing, so the trigger was the only control left. The thread block still prints NPT and BSPT together, so a dry week on one reel is not a promise for the next connector.

Rows that are not the default

The telescopic Restmo has 4.5 from 367 reviews and a £33.99 shelf price, and the page still prints four lengths. Reviews report a leak at the sliding joint, and one lance fell apart at about three months when a plastic flow piece broke. A collar you must watch is not the default. The best value is the Wash It! at £15.95, with 4.4 from 60 reviews, if about 40 cm of shaft is enough. Reviews call it shorter than the photographs and weak on patterns other than shower. The Ninmorth at £18.40 has no review line, so it is not a pick.

Common questions

Which metal lance should I buy from this set?
For pots, a path, and a shower you can switch, buy the 48 cm Restmo pistol if the click on your hose seats. For seedlings and baskets only, buy the 61 cm rainfall Restmo. For a fixed reach near 90 cm, buy the 94 cm Restmo and budget for a connector that may not match a plastic Hozelock click. Leave the telescopic Restmo unless you will watch the collar.
Is the highest star rating the best buy?
No. The rainfall lance and the telescopic Restmo both show 4.5, from 97 and 367 reviews, against 4.4 from 487 on the pistol. Stars do not add a jet to the rose, and they do not cancel a sliding joint that weeps. Match the head to the job, then use the review count as a check on how much you know.
When is the 61 cm rose the better pick?
When you will stay on a soft shower. The 585-hole face is the top pick on star share in this table, at 4.5 from 97, and reviewers say it does not strip compost. It has no jet and no stated head angle. Skip it for cars, patios, and any basket so high that 61 cm still leaves you on tiptoe.
Why not the telescopic Restmo with 367 reviews?
Because the listing cannot agree a length, and the reviews include a leaking collar plus one unit that came apart at about three months. The 4.5 from 367 is a real sample, and people do like the reach next to failed plastic wands. It is an occasional long tool, not the wand we would use every evening.
Is the £15.95 Wash It! good enough?
It is the best value if you want eight named patterns and a thumb valve and you can live with about 40 cm of shaft. At 4.4 from 60 reviews it is not a gamble on a handful of comments. It is short, one review says only the shower disperses well, and the thread line says 1/2 inch garden hose thread while a bullet also says 1/2 or 3/4 inch. It is not the mixed-garden default.
