35 litre solar shower buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are on a UK patio with an outside tap, and an Amazon page that mixes tall black columns with hanging bags and USB-C pumps. A 35 litre solar shower buying guide should end with a short list you can check before you pay, not with a winner. The [35 litre solar shower comparison](/hub/garden-watering/35-litre-solar-shower) holds the table. This page is the filter. Prices are amazon.co.uk shelf prices in GBP on 20 October 2026. What a 35 litre solar shower is

A 35 litre solar shower is a freestanding black PVC column, a little over two metres tall, that stores about 35 litres and warms that water in the sun. The number 35 is the tank. An honest column also shows a weight near 9 to 10 kg. tillvex is 9.5 kg, with bullets at 220 cm and a dimension line at 225 cm. Generic B0HH9CXDN7 and B0HHX7DJ6X are both £172.33 and both print 8 x 8 x 8 cm and 1 kg. Walk away when the title and the specification fight. Bags and pumps are on the solar shower vs camping shower page.

The checks that change the rinse

Start with a mixer. tillvex states a single-lever mixer. Summer Fun does not. tillvex also states a rain head on a 180° joint and a foot rinse at 40 cm. Summer Fun states two mist nozzles. Mist does not replace a mixer. A cover, which tillvex includes, is not frost proofing. A 1 kg line fails the Generic rows, whatever the title says about 60°C.

Sun, hose, and the outside tap

These showers have no plug. tillvex claims up to 60°C. Sweeek says about three hours to 60°C on a different tank. A VEVOR UK page says 30°C in three to four hours. Do not merge those into one heat time. The fill sequence is on the how to use a 35 litre solar shower page. You need an existing outside tap. Water Regs UK treats a hose that can lie in a pool as a high contamination risk. England and Wales use the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. Scotland has 2014 byelaws and Northern Ireland has 2009 regulations. A double check valve outdoors can freeze.

A short checklist

Read the listing once, then stop. The title and the specification should both describe about 35 litres, at a weight near 9 to 10 kg rather than 1 kg. A mixer should be stated. The head should be named, rain or mist. A foot rinse and a cover are either stated or honestly absent, and a cover is not winter protection.

No winner on this page

If the package is 8 cm and 1 kg, stop before the shelf price. If a mixer is not stated, do not assume you can blend the tank with cold hose water. If those lines are present and you want a conditional recommendation, use the best 35 litre solar shower page, and accept that the written comments on the tillvex listing are not marked United Kingdom.

Common questions

Is 35 litres the shower length or the tank?
It is the tank. The column itself is about 217 to 225 cm tall on the listings that print a height, which is a little over two metres, not 35 litres of pipe. tillvex prints 220 cm in the bullets and 225 cm on the dimension line, so quote both if you are checking clearance under a pergola. A package measured in single-digit centimetres is not this tank.
What weight should a real column show?
Look for a listed weight near 9 to 10 kg. tillvex is 9.5 kg. Summer Fun is 8.8 kg on one line and 8 kg on another, so the two figures do not agree. A specification that says 1 kg, next to an 8 cm package, is not a 35 litre column.
Do I need a mixer?
You need one if you want to blend sun-warmed tank water with cold water from the hose. tillvex states a single-lever mixer. Summer Fun does not state a mixer, so you cannot assume the mist nozzles include that blend. Without a mixer, a tank that has actually reached a high temperature is harder to use safely, especially with children.
Does a cover mean I can leave it out all winter?
No. tillvex describes the cover as protection from rain, snow, hail, or external damage. That is weather on the fittings, not a full tank through a frost. Drain the column and store it indoors before freezing weather. A short drip after you shut the mixer is described as normal on class manuals. A mixer that will not close is a fault, and you shut the house tap.
Will it run from a water butt?
Not on these listings. They describe a standard garden hose from an outside tap, where they describe a hose at all. Summer Fun and both Generic rows do not even state the hose. A water butt is a different feed, with its own contamination and pressure questions, and none of the four kept pages claims it.
Do I need planning permission?
A simple column bolted to a patio usually does not. A shelter, a screen, or work on a listed building can. If you are only standing the shower on a slab you already have, that is the first case. If you are building around it, ask the council before you buy timber. The shower listing will not answer that for you.
