Rattan corner sofa set

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are standing in a patio corner with a fence on two sides and a door you still need to open. A rattan corner sofa set only earns that corner if both arms fit and you can still walk past, and if the table is the height you will use. An L that looks compact in a photo can block the step. In this comparison two layouts are actually corners. Three rattanstar colours are one lounge L with a low glass table. The EVRE Marylin set is a dining corner with stools. The rocking bistro and the four-piece conversation set are not corners. They stay on the [rattan garden furniture comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/rattan-garden-furniture) as other jobs. This page is the footprint, the hand, and the table height. Peter F. read those listings on 21 October 2026. This is not a laboratory test. What counts as a corner in this comparison

The rattanstar listings are a 3-seater, an ottoman and a tempered-glass coffee table at £199.99. The saved item line is 176 × 126 × 71.1 cm and 28 kg. Brown with white cushions, black with grey, and brown with grey are the same geometry. Up to 4 is the seller's count for that group, not four dining chairs. The ottoman is a footrest you might perch on. It is not a chair you pull up to a meal. The Marylin set is the other corner: a sofa, a tempered-glass dining table and three stools at £599.99, stated at 83 kg, with 4.5 from 58 reviews. Up to 9 is that sofa, the table and the stools. Seat cushions are about 8 cm and backs about 12 cm. The bullets say powder-coated steel. They do not describe a table that rises. If you wanted a top that moves from coffee height to dining height, that feature is on some specialist corners and it is not stated on these Amazon rows. A published small corner from a specialist, such as Maze's Oxford set with sides around 223 cm and a depth around 85 cm, shows what a drawn footprint looks like. Those centimetres are not the size of the rattanstar ASIN. Use them only as a picture of how a shop publishes an L. Then use the numbers on the listing you are actually buying. The four-piece Madrid conversation set and the two rocking chairs do not put a return against a fence.

Put both measurements on the patio

The rattanstar item line, 176 × 126 × 71.1 cm, and the sofa bullet, 69.3 × 26.8 × 28.0 inches, do not describe one rectangle. Keep both. Mark 176 cm along the fence and 126 cm back into the patio with tape, then look at the inch bullet before you delete the centimetre line. About 68 cm from 26.8 inches is a sofa depth, not a substitute for the 126 cm return. If you only chalk the smaller number, the ottoman and the table have nowhere to go and the door hits the arm. The Marylin item line is 175 × 70 × 71 cm. The listing does not present that as the assembled corner. Chalking 175 by 70 and calling it done will under-size the return and the stools. You need space to pull a stool out. Homeflair, a retailer, uses about 50 cm between a sofa and a table as a working allowance, and about 60–80 cm behind dining chairs. Gardeners' World uses about a metre around a dining table as a rule of thumb. On a terrace the metre often fails, which is a reason to keep the coffee-height L rather than force a dining corner. Neither allowance is a British Standard. Do not treat up to 4 or up to 9 as a measured seat pitch. BS EN 581-2 tests use a 110 kg assumption for seating strength. That is not a result printed on these listings, and it does not tell you how many people fit an arm. If two adults already fill the long rattanstar section in the show photo, the ottoman is the extra perch, not a third deep seat.

Coffee height or dining height

The rattanstar glass top is a coffee table on suction cups. You lean forward for a mug. You do not set a Sunday lunch on it unless everyone is happy to eat from their knees. That is the right L when the corner is for sitting, and the middle of a small patio stays clear because the return is against the fence. It is the wrong L when the point of the patio is a meal. Flat cushions show up in the shared 73 reviews. Comfort for an afternoon is the praise, and a cushion that looks fuller in the photo than it feels is the limit. All three colours share that review text, so a different cloth is not a different sofa. The Marylin table is a tempered-glass dining table. That is the corner to open when you eat outside and you can give the stools room to move. Reviews mention unlabelled screw bags and holes that needed manipulation, often with two people. The 4.5 from 58 reviews is a thinner sample than the conversation set on the main table. It does not change the height of the top. Who should skip each layout is on the best rattan garden furniture set page. Cushions on both corners still come inside in bad weather. Marylin says heavy weather. Rattanstar says rainy or snowy days.

Handedness and the gate

The rattanstar files do not say you can swap the long arm to the other hand. If your door is on the left and the long section only builds one way, measure that way before you order a colour. A specialist corner that is sold as left- or right-handed is a different product. Do not assume these Amazon rows do the same. The Marylin listing also does not state a reversible hand. Put the dining table where the stools can leave the table without crossing the step. Delivery weight is the other gate check. Rattanstar at 28 kg is one lift for two people if the box turns in the hall. Marylin at 83 kg is a different morning, and the glass dining top needs a clear path. A side gate you can walk through is not automatically a gate a boxed corner will turn in. The rattan garden furniture buying guide puts that access check in order with the frame lines. On rattanstar the bullets say aluminium and the material field says steel. Handedness will not resolve that. If the box will not pass, or you cannot lift the glass, stop and get help rather than walking it on its corner through a door frame. When the tape matches one of these two corners, open that row on the main table. When the tape matches neither, a conversation set or a rocking pair is a different shape.

Common questions

Will an L-shape fit a small patio better than four separate chairs?
It can, if both arms sit against the boundaries and you still have a path to the door. The rattanstar plan to chalk is 176 × 126 cm, knowing the inch sofa bullet is a different figure. Four separate chairs from the Madrid conversation set need a different footprint and do not make a corner. If the return crosses the step, the L is worse than two chairs.
Can I swap the rattanstar sofa to the other hand?
The listing does not say so. Treat the hand as fixed until you see a left and a right option on the page you are buying. Measure the long arm on the side your door allows. A colour change does not reverse the sofa.
Why do the inch size and the centimetre size disagree?
The rattanstar item line is 176 × 126 × 71.1 cm and a sofa bullet is 69.3 × 26.8 × 28.0 inches. They are both printed. They are not one rectangle. Keep both on the patio in chalk and believe the larger plan for the whole group. Do not convert one number and delete the other.
Is the ottoman a fourth seat?
It is sold inside an up to 4 set with a 3-seater. Use it as a footrest or a perch. It is not a dining chair, and the table in front of it is coffee height. If you need upright seats at a meal, look at the Marylin stools instead.
When is a dining corner the better L?
When you will eat at the table, and you can spare pull-out space for stools. The Marylin set is that layout at £599.99, with a glass dining top rather than a coffee top. It is 83 kg and the item line is not the full footprint. A lounge L at £199.99 will not become a dining set because you add a tray.
How high is a coffee table versus a dining table in these listings?
The rattanstar top is a low glass coffee table on suction cups. The Marylin bullets call the top a tempered-glass dining table. Neither listing prints a centimetre height you can quote as a single number, and neither says the top rises. If you need a published height, these rows have not given you one.
What weight am I moving on delivery day?
The rattanstar files say 28 kg. The Marylin file says 83 kg. Both arrive for assembly, and the dining set's reviews often imply two people. If the gate or the stairs cannot take the box, the corner that fitted on paper still does not arrive in one piece.
