Garden swing cover buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You already own an A-frame garden swing, and the amazon.co.uk titles keep offering seat counts and the words heavy duty instead of a tape reading. This garden swing cover buying guide puts the checks in order before you open the ten rows on the [garden swing cover comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/garden-swing-cover). You finish with three centimetres, a fastening you can name, and a cloth weight you are willing to live with. Peter F. checked these listings. Do not start from a seat count.

A full cover, not a canopy skin

The first job is shape, not brand. A full garden swing cover is a shell over the canopy roof and down the legs. A replacement canopy about 15 cm deep replaces the roof cloth, not the outdoor shell. A porch swing on chains often needs slots a ready-made A-frame shell will not have. A seat skin at 138 × 48 × 48 cm, or a canopy sold in inches, is not the cover this comparison scores. Seat count still does not choose the box. A stated 206 × 124 × 170 cm shell that split because the legs splayed past the seat is the illustration: the frame decides fit.

Three measurements, in centimetres

Measure the empty frame. Take the widest width at the legs or armrests, the deepest depth, and the height from the ground to the top of the canopy. Listings in this set do not share one axis order, so match numbers, not the word length in the title. PRADICHI at £11.89 states no centimetres. AOOWU’s title prints 220 × 170 × 135 cm while a dimensions row shows 135 × 170 × 135 cm. RICHIE’s title height of 150 cm sits against an item row of 1 cm. The AWNIC pair states 175 × 125 × 160 cm and 210 × 125 × 170 cm. Hohong’s large A-frame shell is 250 × 210 × 248 cm, a different object from a normal 210 cm cover. Seat labels against those widths sit on 2 seater vs 3 seater garden swing cover. If the legs are wider than any stated width, a ready-made shell from this set is the wrong tool.

Cloth, weight and the water words

Denier is a yarn size, not a lab score. A seller’s 420D, 500D, 10000 Pa, heavy duty or anti-UV line stays a claim. Products Compared did not hose-test these ten covers. Weight is what you can compare: DIVCHI at 200 g, LIVIVO at about 1.47 kg, the AWNIC 3-seater at 1.9 kg, and the heaviest Hohong cloth at 2.88 kg. A 200 g shell does not become heavy duty because the title says so. DIVCHI’s title says waterproof while the bullets say water resistant. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 9, a description given prominently is part of satisfactory quality. Hohong’s 10000 Pa figure is arithmetic on the seller’s claim, not a test result from this set.

Name the fastening, then check the reviews

Windproof on a bullet is not a fastening. Name what the listing ships: eyelet ropes, buckles, a centre strap, a hem cord, hook-and-loop, a front zip, or only elastic ties. LIVIVO ships four nylon ropes and metal eyelets. The AWNIC 3-seater states a front zip, hook-and-loop, vents and a bag. SIHAIAN lists a waist belt, four buckles, two drawstrings and two zips. PRADICHI reviews say the ties break. Both AWNIC sizes show 4.5 from 790 with the same UK review texts, one sample across the 175 cm row and the 210 cm row. Do not add the counts. Price in this set runs from £11.89 to £50.99. Removable covers sit outside BS EN 581-2, so no row earns a standards mark for the textile. The day you fit the shell is how to fit a garden swing cover.

Common questions

What do I measure on an A-frame swing before I buy a cover?
Measure the empty frame: widest width at legs or armrests, deepest depth, and height from the ground to the top of the canopy, all in centimetres. Do not measure the cushions and call that the cover size. If the legs splay wider than the seat, use the ground span, not the cushion width.
Is 3 seater a size?
No. It is a label. Shops print different centimetre boxes under the same seat words. Match a stated width, depth and height to your tape. If no centimetres are printed, as on PRADICHI in this set, do not treat the seat count as a substitute.
The title says waterproof and the bullets say water resistant. Which line counts?
Both matter as description. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a prominent claim is part of satisfactory quality. A clash like DIVCHI’s waterproof title against water-resistant bullets is a reason to read the whole page and keep evidence, not a reason to invent a lab result.
Is 420D or heavy duty enough on its own?
No. Denier is a yarn size, and heavy duty is not a weight you can check. DIVCHI lists 200 g under a heavy-duty title. Compare the grammes, the centimetres and a fastening you can name. Products Compared did not verify 420D, 500D or 10000 Pa on these ASINs.
Why do two AWNIC sizes show the same 4.5 from 790?
Because the saved listings share that star line and the same UK texts across the 175 cm and 210 cm ASINs, including comments about a 3-seater. Treat it as one sample, not two. Do not add 790 to 790 when you compare those rows.
What if the frame is an odd shape or a porch swing on chains?
Leave the ready-made shortlist. A porch swing often needs slots for the chains, and a closed shell does not have them. An odd A-frame may splay past every stated width in this set. Use a UK made-to-measure maker rather than guessing from seat count.
