Solar ground lights for decking

Updated: 22 October 2026

The spike is in your hand, the deck board is in front of you, and the plastic point will not hold between the gaps. Solar ground lights for decking are a fixing problem before they are a brightness problem. If the box does not list screws or tape, it is a soil light, whatever the title says about decks. In this capture only two of the eight amazon.co.uk listings describe a hard-surface kit. The full table is our [solar ground lights comparison](/hub/garden-decor/solar-ground-lights), saved on 19 October 2026. Peter F. read the included lines. These boards were not drilled. A stake is not a deck fixing

Six packs in this set are stake-led. Torchtree, btfarm, both Dankeled colours, Solpex, and Caldarax do not list screws or tape. Forcing a soil spike between deck boards is not the fitting the seller packed. Caldarax is the title trap. The title says deck lights, and the included line is still spikes, plus the instruction to push the light into the ground. £11.04 for four at 6000 K does not become a deck kit because the title used the word. The check order is the solar ground lights buying guide.

Screws on iBaycon, tape on YiLaie

iBaycon B0FWB5LDT9 is the screw-hole pack. The bullets say pre-drilled holes for a screw-on fit on a deck, step, or fence, and they also include a stake. A July 2026 review mentions both. The capture price is £19.99 for twelve, cool white at 6000 K, 4.4 from 628 ratings. The components line does not count the screws, so check the box. IP68 is a bullet with no depth and time. One review reports water inside after a few weeks. Peel the film and switch on before you screw the base down. Ignore December 2022 comments about RGB and a remote. They are a different product. YiLaie B0GWHMYJTM lists four lights, four stakes, and four double-sided tape sheets, at £29.99, cold white at 6500 K, 4.4 from 45 ratings. The bullets name 3M tape for fences, decks, and stone. One review says the shell is sealed and the cell cannot be reached. About £7.50 a light, on 45 ratings, is a thin sample. Skip YiLaie if you wanted evidence more than tape.

Timber, composite, and the panel

On timber, a screw through a pre-drilled hole is the fixing iBaycon describes. Mark the holes, keep clear of the board edge, and stop if you do not know what is under the board. None of these listings state a screw length. Do not copy a strip-light screw chart onto this disk. On composite, boards move and get hotter, and adhesive alone is the weak fixing. ATOM LED’s strip-profile guide says that, and it is the right caution for YiLaie’s tape. Prefer iBaycon’s screw holes when the board maker allows face screws. A stake-only pack is still the wrong substitute. The panel has to see open sky after the base is fixed. A flush lid under a deep overhang will not charge. Switch on and peel any film before the base is tight.

When the job is no longer a disk

A surface disk with screws or tape is not a recessed deck light. B&Q’s cutter-guide fittings cut the board. If that is what you want, stop. A joiner should deal with joists and any waterproof layer. An electrician is the person for house electrics, including a transformer in a shed. Tape on a 2 V disk is not a Part P circuit. A swollen, hot, or leaking cell is a stop. Recycle it. Do not leave it screwed to timber while it heats. iBaycon is the pack when you will screw into timber or into composite that allows screws. YiLaie is the pack when you want the tape sheets and you accept 45 ratings and a sealed cell. Everything else in this eight stays on soil. The switch, the film, and the cover test are on how to install solar ground lights.

Common questions

Which of these packs include screws or tape?
iBaycon’s bullets name pre-drilled holes for screws on a deck, step, or fence, plus a stake. YiLaie’s included line lists four tape sheets and four stakes. Torchtree, btfarm, both Dankeled colours, Solpex, and Caldarax are stake-led. A July 2026 iBaycon review mentions spikes and screws. That is still not a counted screw list on the components line.
The Caldarax title says deck lights. Are screws in the box?
No. The included line is spikes and the instruction to push the light into the ground. The title word does not add hardware. At £11.04 it is a 4-pack for soil, 6000 K, not a deck kit.
Is 3M tape enough on composite?
It is what YiLaie packs, and it may be enough on a clean, flat spot for a while. ATOM LED, on a different product, says composite moves and heats, and adhesive alone is the weak fixing. The Solar Centre refuses tape as the only mount on another light. Treat YiLaie’s sheets as the listed option, not as a permanent promise, and prefer screws where the board allows them.
Will the panel still see the sky on a riser?
Only if the lid is out of the overhang. A flush panel cannot be tilted. A disk screwed under a deep nosing, or on a fence in permanent shade, will not store an evening. Fix the spot for sun first, then the screws. Switch on and peel any film before the base is tight.
Do I need to drill joists or a waterproof membrane?
Not for a surface disk. Screws stay in the board face, clear of the edge, and only if you know you are not hitting structure or a membrane. A recessed light with a cutter is a joiner’s job. None of these listings state a screw length, so do not borrow one from a strip-light guide.
