Silicone moulds for epoxy resin

Updated: 23 October 2026

You have a bottle of epoxy, or you are about to buy one, and the amazon.co.uk aisle is full of silicone moulds for epoxy resin that do not do the same job. A coaster set, a word, a shallow tray, a jewellery cavity and a deep round will not substitute for each other, and a kit that already contains liquid is a different purchase. This page ranks that decision. The ten listings, with prices and stars from the amazon.co.uk files on 19 October 2026, are compared on the [epoxy resin mould comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/epoxy-resin-mould). Products Compared did not pour these moulds in a lab. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the job, not the piece count

Piece count is a poor first filter. Sixteen tiny pendants do not become a coaster because there are more of them. EPODA at £13.99 and LET'S RESIN at £17.99 are coaster moulds plus holder moulds. Opopark at £7.99 is three words: Love, Home and Family. simarro at £5.39 is two rectangles at 19 × 14 × 1.2 cm and two hearts at 5.5 × 5 × 0.9 cm. TPTGIAR at £5.99 is 16 pendant shapes and 20 chains. The title says kit even though no resin is in the contents. ZMD at £7.59 is six deep rounds. ZHUOmengyun at £8.99 is a heart and a five-compartment frame. Three boxes around £24 are kits: a frame with a litre, a 500 ml beginner box, or geometric moulds with an LED base. EPODA cannot agree a count: fields say 8 pieces, 9 items and a 10-pack, while the bullets list four round, four square and two holders. Read the bullets, then check depth against the resin you will mix.

Depth decides the resin

A shallow tray and a 165 ml round are not the same pour. Coating resin goes on in a thin film. In a deep cavity it can overheat, cloud or stick. ZMD says the six rounds are for epoxy and casting resin, not coating resin: about 4 inches across, 0.8 inch deep and about 165 ml each. One UK reviewer measured about 10 cm by 1.75 cm and found that large for a regular coaster. ZHUOmengyun's heart is stated at 1.8 cm. simarro's 1.2 cm rectangle is the shallow end. EPODA states no millimetres. LET'S RESIN states a finished coaster of about 3.4 inches and no depth. A deep round can drink most of a 500 ml kit in two cavities. If your bottle gives a maximum pour depth, that number beats any star rating. Do not guess a universal depth.

Gloss, walls, and what the listing hides

A glossy cavity copies a glossy face. Scratches, dents and a mould that is not flat copy too. In the EPODA UK sample, one square was not flat, so the coaster rocked, and square cavities arrived with dents and scratches. Opopark reviewers, across 50 UK texts behind a 4.5 from 697, describe thin letter strokes, marks that needed sanding, and resin that stuck and snapped when pulled early. One said the letters face the opposite way from the photo. None of the ten states platinum-cure or tin-cure silicone. You cannot infer it from flexible or high tear strength. simarro and ZHUOmengyun have no star line. TPTGIAR has 4.4 from five ratings. A missing review line is not evidence. Prefer a clear piece count and a readable review volume when two moulds match the same job.

Release spray and polyester

Quality silicone often lets epoxy go without a release spray. Resin Pro says a platinum silicone usually needs none for epoxy, and a light coat is for a worn or intricate cavity. LET'S RESIN's coaster listing still suggests mould release or mild soapy water, and says a torch or heat gun is not recommended. A puddle of spray becomes a cloudy patch on the cast. East Coast Fibreglass says its silicone moulds are generally for epoxy and Jesmonite, not polyester, because polyester solvents can degrade the rubber. That is not a timed test of these ten ASINs. If the listing does not say polyester, keep polyester out. If you already own a compatible epoxy, buy the cavity. If you do not, the next decision is whether the box should contain the liquid.

Common questions

What should I buy first if I only want coasters?
Buy a coaster cavity, not a jewellery set. That is the LET'S RESIN 18-piece at £17.99, 15 coasters and 3 holders at 4.5 from 2,399, or EPODA at £13.99 if you accept the piece-count clash and the dents in the UK sample. Neither includes resin. Check your bottle's pour limit before you fill every cavity.
Is a 16-piece jewellery set useful for coasters?
No. TPTGIAR's 16 shapes are pendants with holes, plus 20 chains, at £5.99. The title says kit and the box has no resin. Those cavities will not sit under a mug.
How do I know if the cavity is too deep for my resin?
Read the maximum depth on your resin. ZMD states about 0.8 inch and 165 ml and says not to use coating resin. ZHUOmengyun states a 1.8 cm heart. If your bottle only allows a thin layer, those moulds are the wrong pair. EPODA states no millimetres.
Do I need a release spray?
Often you do not, on new glossy silicone used with epoxy. Resin Pro treats a light coat as optional for worn or fiddly moulds. LET'S RESIN still mentions release or soapy water. Wipe out any pool so it does not blush the surface.
Will polyester resin ruin the mould?
It can. A UK silicone supplier warns that polyester solvents generally damage craft silicone. That is not a timed test of these ten ASINs. If the listing does not say polyester, keep polyester out.
When is a kit the wrong buy?
When the resin is already on your shelf. A kit near £24 then charges you for liquid you do not need, and the moulds inside may be small or unnamed, as with the LET'S RESIN 500 ml box. Buy the cavity that matches the job.
