Best epoxy glue UK: choose the working time first

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are looking at a snapped ceramic handle, a loose bracket, or a chair joint, and the search that got you here was best epoxy glue UK. What you need is a two-part adhesive: a resin and a hardener mixed in equal amounts, then pressed into a clean joint. That is a different buy from casting resin, and from a thin superglue that grabs and then snaps. This guide sorts the five packs on our [epoxy resin adhesive comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/epoxy-resin-adhesive) by working time and format, using amazon.co.uk prices from 19 October 2026. What you are actually buying

An epoxy resin adhesive here is a household glue, not a pour for a table top. You mix two parts, spread a thin film, and hold the joint until that pack's handling time has passed. What you can check is an equal mix, a keyed surface, and a working time that matches the repair. Superglue is thin and grabs fast, and reviewers often say it had already failed on a heavy or gapped joint. Epoxy can fill a small uneven edge, such as a terracotta pot or a hose-reel bracket in the Gorilla reviews. A blob is not stronger than a thin bond line. Araldite's guidance is that a thinner joint is the stronger one. Casting resin is a different buy. None of the five listings states a food-contact approval.

Fast set or time to align

The first decision is the clock. Gorilla Epoxy, two 25 ml syringes at £13.00, lists a five-minute set, a 30-minute clamp, and a full cure in 24 hours. Araldite Rapid, 2 × 15 ml at £7.85, gives about five minutes to work, about 20 minutes of support, and full strength around two hours. The listing says you can sand after two hours. The WAN2TLK 250 ml kit at £22.89 is the same five-minute style, with full strength in 24 hours. Araldite Standard at £7.47 states a 14-hour full cure. An 80-minute repositioning window is on a Standard syringe sheet, not on tube ASIN B00AU0MW1K. Tape a clean break with a fast pack only after the preparation is done. Pieces you are still lining up suit Standard. Gorilla's UK page asks you to apply between 10°C and 37°C.

Tube, syringe, or a 250 ml kit

The Gorilla syringe pushes resin and hardener together once it is flowing. Air in the barrel can spit, and £13.00 buys two 25 ml syringes, not the single syringe that was showing nearer £5 to £6.50. Both Araldite packs are twin tubes: equal lengths, stirred for about 30 seconds. Standard's title says 15 ml while the components line says two 15 ml tubes. The WAN2TLK bottles add gloves, a stick, and trays, with a smell complaint, thick resin, a mix that gelled in two to four minutes, and one failed bond. At £22.89 that file is 4.6 from 108 reviews, not several thousand. The £4.29 3HA tube is 2.5 from three reviews. The only substantive review says the tube was about a quarter full, and the listing states no cure.

What it will not do

These packs are sold for metal, wood, ceramic, glass, masonry, and many hard plastics. They do not wet polyethylene, polypropylene, or PTFE. UniBond's UK guide adds flexible PVC. Roughing a polyethylene box does not change that, and Gorilla's FAQ sets PVC pipe aside. Water resistant on Gorilla and both Araldite listings, or waterproof on the 250 ml kit, is not a pond, a hull, or a shower. Rear-view mirrors are excluded on both Araldite listings. A person-carrying bracket, a fuel joint, or a hot oily engine part is a weld or a different product. Metal on a household pack means a light repair you can clamp. The how to use epoxy glue page takes that from mix to support. Uncured resin can sensitise skin. EUH205 warns of an allergic reaction. Use nitrile, changed often. Latex is not the substitute.

Common questions

Is a syringe better than two tubes?
A syringe measures the push for you, which is why Gorilla reviewers like it once any air is purged. Twin tubes are cheaper in this set, at £7.47 and £7.85, and they need equal lengths stirred for about 30 seconds. The syringe is kinder if you rush the ratio. The tubes are enough when the joint is small and you can see two matching beads.
Should I buy five-minute epoxy or the 14-hour grade?
Buy the five-minute style when the parts are already clean, dry, and ready to tape. That is Gorilla, Araldite Rapid, or the 250 ml kit, with full cure still measured in hours, not in the first grab. Buy Araldite Standard when you still need to align the joint. Its listing cure is 14 hours, and reviewers hold the parts while it sets.
Is a litre of clear resin the same thing?
No. Casting resin is sold to pour into moulds. The packs here are adhesives for a joint you clamp. A broken handle does not need a litre, and a casting kit does not give you the working times printed on these repair listings.
Is the £4.29 tube a bargain?
On this evidence, no. It has 2.5 from three amazon.co.uk reviews, one of which describes a tube about a quarter full, and the page does not state a cure. Named Araldite tubes in this set are under £8 with thousands of reviews. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 still expects goods to match their description if you do buy it and the fill is short.
Can I mend a plate I will eat from?
Do not use these packs for that. Araldite's grade pages say the adhesives are not for food or drink, and none of the five listings states a food-contact approval. A decorative ceramic repair is a different job from a surface that touches food.
