Coco fertiliser or soil fertiliser

Updated: October 2026

Two bottles can share a brand and a flower claim and still name different media. Choosing coco fertiliser or soil fertiliser, in this folder, means reading the word on the title and stopping when that word is missing. The prices below sit in our [cannabis fertiliser comparison](/hub/fertiliser-soil-and-bark-mulch/cannabis-fertiliser), taken from amazon.co.uk on 19 October 2026. The Products Compared editorial team did not run a medium trial. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Whether the bottle is a base or a booster is a separate question, answered on the booster page.

Why the medium is on the title

GroWell notes that coco holds calcium and nitrogen and releases potassium, so the feed is built around that behaviour. Greens Horticulture makes the same point from the shop side: a coco feed is not a soil feed with a new sticker. Match the medium the title names. If the title does not name one, the medium is unknown. Do not promote a bottle into coco because a bullet says any system, and do not demote a coco title because a bullet also mentions soil. There is no soil-specific A and B set in this folder.

Bottles that say coco

Four ASINs put coco in the title. Two are bases and two are boosters. CANNA Coco A and B, B003VN7272, is £17.56, 4.7 from 1,969 reviews, with a 1 litre liquid-volume field. Reviews describe use on coco and in hydroponics, and they still mention a pH meter. The other base is B0090HMR9G at £19.49, 4.0 from 127 reviews. Do not merge them because both say coco. The boosters are Advanced Nutrients Big Bud Coco, B00V4QS74K and B07D3ZGPY6. On both, the bullets also say soil or hydroponics. That extra wording does not delete coco from the title. Role stays on bloom booster or base fertiliser.

Bottles that do not say coco

Big Bud without the second word is B004TENZMI, £12.25, 4.5 from 9,337 reviews. The medium cell is blank. It is not the coco bottle, however large the review file is. Bloom pH Perfect, B00V4QR3MC, at £10.62, names hydroponics, not coco and not soil. Bio Flores, B00DCX5VOC, at £14.63, mentions soil nutrient retention and does not say coco. That is a flowering liquid with a soil phrase, not a soil A and B set. Sugar Shot, B0BKWB3FQW, at £24.36, lists soil, coco and hydroponics together. It remains a carbohydrate additive. Naming coco in a list of three media does not make it a coco base. If you needed a soil base and none of these titles is one, this folder does not contain it. The buying guide is where that job decision sits.

When to choose which

Choose a coco title when the medium you are matching is coco, and then pick the role. For a coco base, B003VN7272 is the stronger file. For a coco booster, B00V4QS74K has the larger review sample and the worse volume clash. A booster still assumes a base. It does not become the base because it says coco. Choose a bottle that does not say coco only when you are not trying to match coco. Do not use a coco title in soil on the argument that the bullets also mention soil. The condition is the title. Pack conflicts and missing NPK figures are on how to read a fertiliser label.

Common questions

Which ASINs say coco in the title?
Four. B003VN7272 and B0090HMR9G are CANNA Coco A and B listings. B00V4QS74K and B07D3ZGPY6 are Advanced Nutrients Big Bud Coco, both titled 250 ml and sold as different ASINs at £13.42 and £12.50. The first pair are bases. The second pair are boosters. Coco on the title does not tell you the role by itself.
Is Big Bud 250 ml the coco bottle?
Not the one with 9,337 reviews. B004TENZMI at £12.25 does not say coco. The coco bottles are B00V4QS74K and B07D3ZGPY6. They have their own prices and review counts. A shared brand and a shared Big Bud name are not a shared medium.
Can I use a soil-named bottle in coco because a bullet says any medium?
The comparison does not treat a broad bullet as permission to ignore the title. Big Bud Coco's bullets mention soil or hydroponics and the title still says coco, so the title wins. The reverse also holds. A bottle that never says coco is not reclassified because another product's bullet sounds flexible. Match the word that is printed.
Does Sugar Shot become a coco base because it lists coco?
No. Sugar Shot at £24.36 names soil, coco and hydroponics and describes carbohydrates, sugar and microbes. It is an additive with three media on the listing. The coco bases are the two CANNA A and B ASINs. Listing a medium is not the same as being the main feed for that medium.
What do reviews say about the coco set?
On B003VN7272, reviewers describe the set on coco and in hydroponics and say a pH meter is still necessary. One review mentions French text on the B bottle. On B0090HMR9G, a UK review says the bottle has no English. Those notes are about the listing you receive, not a yield result.
Is there a soil-specific base in this folder?
No. There is no soil A and B set and no Terra-style base among the eleven liquids. Bio Flores mentions soil nutrient retention and is a 1 litre flowering liquid, not a two-part soil feed. If a soil base is the bottle you need, it is outside this comparison.
What should I do if the title does not name a medium?
Treat the medium as unknown. That is the position for Big Bud B004TENZMI, Bud Ignitor, Bud Candy and Trace Mix. Do not copy coco onto them from a sibling ASIN. Use price, role and the review file, and leave the medium cell blank until a title or a specific-uses line actually names one.
