Outdoor dome camera UK

Updated: 22 October 2026

You want a dome on the porch, the drive, or the garden, and the cheapest rounded camera in the search is an indoor Tapo that is not water resistant. The other mistake is a weatherproof camera aimed at the pavement. An outdoor dome camera UK buy in this set needs an IP65 or IP66 line, an aim on your own boundary, and a sign if the picture still includes a neighbour or the street. Prices are the amazon.co.uk figures on 19 October 2026. The full table is the [dome camera comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/dome-camera). This page is from Peter F., editor for DIY & tools. There was no rain chamber and no lab test.

Which domes in this set are outdoor listings

Treat IP66, and the DCSEC's IP65, as the outdoor rows: both JUSTOP cameras at about £19.95, the Loocam at about £22.99, the SANSCO at about £29.99 (IP66 in the field, IP67 in the highlight), the ZOSI pair at about £39.99, and the Tapo C530WS at about £46.99. The DCSEC at about £39.90 says IP65. These are listing claims. This comparison did not soak them. The C210 is IP21. The C211 is not water resistant. One UK review points a C211 through a living-room window, and night vision through glass often glares. The SANNCE claims IP66 in the bullets and says Indoor in the usage field. Check the live photo. The Hikvision title is IP54, says anti-vandal, and has no model number.

Weather claim is not a vandal rating

IP66 is dust and water jets, not a promise the dome will survive a kick. None of these files states an IK code. The SANSCO title says full metal and JUSTOP says ABS and aluminium. Those lines are not impact tests. The Hikvision title says anti-vandal and has no model code. A November 2022 statement to Parliament is about sensitive government sites, not a ban on a home camera. The buying order is on the dome camera buying guide.

Where the lens may point

The ICO says a camera that records only your own home and garden is outside the household duties of data protection law. If the lens records a neighbour, a communal area, or the street, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply: a reason, no more than you need, a way to tell people, secure storage, and deletion when you no longer need the footage. A sign is the ICO's example. A discreet bubble is still a camera. In England, the Planning Portal says permission is not normally required inside its limits: no more than four cameras on one wall, not below 2.5 m, not larger than 0.75 m by 0.25 m by 0.25 m, and not sticking out more than 1 m. Those figures are England's. Listed buildings can differ. A new mains circuit is Building Regulations. The C530WS lead is about 3 m. The ICO treats audio of people in public as hard to justify, which matters for the JUSTOP microphone and the C530WS speaker.

Rain, dirt, and the night picture

Infrared bounces off a wet or dirty bubble, a film you forgot to peel, and a soffit close to the lens. The picture goes milky. The IP number does not fix that. Clean the cover and try the view after dark before you seal the cable. The steps are on the install page. A listed distance, 15 m on the SANSCO or 20 m on the JUSTOP, is not a distance at which you can name a face. The JUSTOP title says dome and the form-factor field says turret, at about £19.95 with IP66. Five UK reviews on the white model disagree about the microphone. The black model has one star and no review text. The C530WS is the outdoor camera if you will not pull coax: IP66, 3K, 4.5 from 12,161. One buyer saw the pan freeze at night on an extension lead. The DCSEC wide view is IP65, and several UK reviews say the night picture washed out.

Common questions

Which cameras in this set are listed for outdoors?
The JUSTOP pair, the Loocam, the SANSCO, and the ZOSI highlight claim IP66. The Tapo C530WS claims IP66 as an outdoor Wi-Fi or Ethernet camera. The DCSEC claims IP65. The SANNCE claims IP66 in the bullets and says Indoor in the usage field. The C210, the C211, and the eufy C220 are indoor.
Is IP66 enough for UK rain?
It is the claim these listings use for outdoor housings, and IP65 is the DCSEC's claim. IP66 refers to dust and water jets. It is not a test repeated here, and it does not mean the camera may film the street. IP21 and not water resistant are not enough for a porch in the rain.
Can I put a Tapo C211 outside or behind glass?
Do not put it outside. The listing says it is not water resistant. Behind glass, from inside the room, matches one UK review, and the camera stays dry. Expect glare from the infrared at night. For a bracket in the weather, use the C530WS or a wired IP65 or IP66 add-on.
Do I need a sign?
You need a way to tell people if the camera records beyond your boundary. The ICO uses a sign as the example. If the picture is only your own garden, the household exemption is the ICO's line. When in doubt, narrow the aim first.
How high can I mount it in England?
The Planning Portal says domestic CCTV in England is not normally a planning application inside its limits, including not mounting below 2.5 m and not putting more than four cameras on one wall. The size and the 1 m projection limits still apply. Those numbers are England's. A new circuit is an electrician's job.
Is an anti-vandal title the same as IK10?
No. The Hikvision title says anti-vandal and the file has no IK code and no model number. Metal or ABS lines on the other cameras are not impact ratings either.
