Peltier mini cooler kit

Updated: October 2026

You are trying to revive a 12 V cool box, or you want a small insulated box for a weekend, and the kit photo already shows a fan on a silver block. A Peltier mini cooler kit only works when the hot side can dump the heat the tile pumps plus the electrical power you put in. The title wattage is a different number. By the end of this page you should know whether you are replacing a tile in a box that already has a serious sink, or buying a bundle that still needs one. Shelf prices are in the [Peltier element comparison](/hub/electrical-equipment/peltier-element). This is not the stove-fan repair. We did not build a box.

A cool box repair is not a new fridge

If the old cool box still has its hot-side heatsink, fan, and insulation, you are buying a replacement tile of the same footprint. In this set that is usually a 40 mm TEC1-12706, or a TEC1-12705 when that is the number on the ceramic that came out. The Youmile 12705 pair, B0BD8KJVSP, is about £9.29, 4.3 from 27 reviews. The title says 45 W and a bullet says Qmax 77 W. The diymore five-pack at about £15.58 is the high-volume spare when the old tile is a 12706. It is a bare module. Qcmax of 50–60 W is the pumped heat near zero temperature difference. A published test, not these ASINs, reached 3.3°C from 28.7°C in three hours. That is not a promise for tired foam.

What the small fan bundles can and cannot do

ALAMSCN's about £10.98 bundle, B0DQ46W8YY, is two TEC1-12706 modules, two 40 mm fans and two 40 × 40 × 11 mm sinks, listed at 60 W and 6 A. The star line is 3.1 from five reviews. The heatsink and fan were called inadequate for the Peltier. A working note on those small parts suggests about 1 A if they stay on the tile. Envistia's note on a 40 × 40 × 11 mm sink is a few watts, not a refrigerator. If your cool box already has a larger hot-side path, buy the bare tile and leave these bundles. The fan bundle's weight field is 20 g, which cannot be two fans and two sinks.

Fan kit or water block

B09GFKWP49 is about £18.78, a TEC1-12706 with a fan, a radiator and a cold plate, 4.0 from 93 reviews. A bullet says no noise. The noise field is 65 dB. Plan for 65 dB. Paste is unconfirmed. B0C78HN2LN is about £20.99, 3.7 from 40 reviews, with a water block and a listed maximum of 120 W. That 120 W is not 120 W of cooling. One reviewer put the water block on the hot side and saw rapid cooling. With two water blocks the notes report about 6–7°C between a fish tank and the waste bucket. A few degrees on a tank is not a fridge. A closed bottle of water on the hot side warms up and the cooling collapses. If you cannot keep water moving, the about £18.78 fan kit is the simpler assembly, with the 65 dB line accepted.

Power, noise, and when to stop

A TEC1-12706 at a useful current wants a 12 V supply that can deliver several amps. Imax on these listings is 6 A. The five-pack review at about 3.5 A is already more than a USB port. The about 1 A note on the 40 mm ALAMSCN bundle is a limit of those sinks, not the tile's capability. A car near 14 V sits close to a Vmax of about 15 V. The about £18.78 listing's 65 dB field is the number to quote if you expected silence. A compressor fridge is the honest alternative when the box must stay cold for hours in a hot car. Replace the tile if the cool box already had a proper sink. Leave the 40 mm fan bundle for low current.

Common questions

Can one TEC1-12706 run a cool box?
It can run a small 12 V cool box that already has a real hot-side sink, as a repair of the tile that was there. It will not match a compressor. Qcmax near 50–60 W is the zero-difference figure. If the box has tired seals and a tiny sink, one tile will disappoint you.
Is the £11 fan-and-sink bundle enough?
The about £10.98 ALAMSCN bundle is two tiles, two 40 mm fans and two 40 mm sinks, 3.1 from five reviews. Reviewers called the heatsink and fan inadequate for the Peltier. A seller note puts that sink at a few watts. It is the wrong tool at 6 A.
Water block or fan?
Use the water-block kit, about £20.99, when you can keep water moving on the hot side. A fish-tank note with two blocks saw about 6–7°C. Use the about £18.78 fan kit when you want a simpler assembly and you accept a 65 dB noise field. Neither replaces a compressor fridge.
What temperature drop is realistic?
The concrete note in this set is about 6–7°C between a fish tank and a waste bucket with two water blocks. A separate paper's chamber reached 3.3°C from 28.7°C in three hours on a different build. Do not paste those results onto the about £18.78 kit.
Can I use it on a 60 litre aquarium?
One buyer did, in hot weather, with the about £8.96 ALAMSCN modules, and only after larger graphics-card heatsinks. The 40 mm sinks in the box were not used. Treat that as possible with a much bigger hot side, not as a result from the included plates.
When is a compressor fridge the honest alternative?
Choose a compressor fridge when the box must stay cold for hours in a warm car, or when the volume is more than a small insulated chest. Published COP figures for thermoelectric boxes sit well below 1. A Peltier kit is the tool for a tile swap in an existing 12 V cool box.
