Makita LXT or G-series

Updated: 2026-10-23

The new pack is in your hand, the slide will not click, and both tools say 18 V on the housing. Makita LXT or G-series is a battery-interface choice, not a voltage choice. The packs do not share tools, and the chargers do not share packs. We used Makita UK sheets and those listings on 22 October 2026. No fit test. A qualifying purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The three amazon rows are on the [Makita cordless combi drill comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/makita-cordless-combi-drill).

Two 18 V systems

LXT is the system most people mean when they say they already own Makita batteries. The DHP482's cartridge list runs from the BL1815N through the BL1860B. G-series is a smaller, older interface sold beside it. The HP457D in the twin packs is a G-series combi, and a BL1813G is the pack those kits name. An amazon.co.uk description that pairs a DHP482Z with a DTD152Z states that those tools are not compatible with G-series batteries. The families are not interchangeable.

How to read the pack

A G-series pack in this story ends in G and is small. BL1813G means 18 V and 1.3 Ah on that slide, and the charger next to it is the DC18WA. A BL1830B or a BL1850B is 3.0 Ah or 5.0 Ah LXT, and the charger beside those packs is a DC18RC. The letter G on the end of BL1813G is the G-series mark. A G inside the kit code DK18015X2 only means that because the bullets name BL1813G packs. Match DC18WA to G-series packs and an LXT charger to LXT packs. The first charger you buy locks the next tools. Torque and body versus kit sit on the Makita cordless combi drill buying guide.

What these twin packs include

B00NOURNGW is the clearer box. It is the DK18015X2 at £182.50, with 4.7 from 82 reviews. The bullets name an HP457D, a TD127D, two BL1813G packs, a DC18WA charger, a canvas bag and three PH2 bits. These packs run this combi and this driver. They do not start the DHP482 bundle. B00NBYH3YS is £180.00 with 4.3 from 48 reviews. The bullets name an HP457, a TD127D and two 1.3 Ah packs. A charger is not in the components line, and reviews do not agree that one arrived. The packs do not click onto LXT tools people already own. Who should buy which row is on the best Makita 18V combi drill page.

If you already own LXT

The kept LXT option is B07Q22BXP4, the DHP482 with a 100-piece bit set at £97.00 and 4.4 from 47 reviews. The part number is DHP482Z. The compatible-devices line says Makita 18 V LXT batteries. The components line does not name a battery or a charger. That is the correct body if you already have an LXT pack and charger. The £182.50 kit will not donate its BL1813G packs to this drill. If you own nothing yet, the first kit locks the charger. The DK18015X2 names a charger. The DHP482 bundle does not. How to drive the first screw, once the right pack is on, is on the how to use a combi drill page.

Common questions

Are all Makita 18 V batteries the same?
No. LXT packs and G-series packs are both labelled 18 V, and they use different slides. The DHP482 list is the LXT cartridges from BL1815N to BL1860B. The HP457D in these twin packs takes G-series packs such as the BL1813G. A pack that runs one of those drills does not, on Makita's lists or on the UK retailer pages we used, run the other. Check the model on the pack, not the voltage on the tool.
What does the G on BL1813G mean?
It marks that pack as G-series. BL1813G is the 1.3 Ah pack named in the DK18015X2 bullets, and UK parts listings charge it on a DC18WA and name the HP457D among the tools. The B on an LXT code such as BL1850B is not the same letter doing the same job. BL1850B is a 5.0 Ah LXT pack. If the code ends in G and the capacity is 1.3 Ah, assume G-series until the product page says otherwise.
Will the batteries in the DK18015X2 run a DHP482?
The bullets name two BL1813G packs, and the DHP482's battery list is the LXT series. An amazon description of a DHP482Z sold with a DTD152Z states that those tools are not compatible with G-series batteries. A review of this twin says the 1.3 Ah packs do not match that buyer's 3 Ah and 5 Ah Makita packs. Use the packs on the HP457D and the TD127D in the set. Buy an LXT pack if the drill you want to run is the DHP482.
Which charger is for G-series, and which is for LXT?
The DC18WA is the charger named with the BL1813G packs on B00NOURNGW and on UK G-series parts pages. LXT packs in the DHP482 list use an LXT charger such as the DC18RC. The two chargers are not a shared dock for both families. B00NBYH3YS does not name a charger in the components line, so do not assume a DC18WA is in that box. One review says a charger arrived and another says it did not match the picture.
Can I buy an adapter?
We cannot say that an adapter exists or that none exists, because this comparison did not test one. Makita's cartridge lists name different packs for the DHP482 and for the HP457D, and UK retailer pages say G-series packs do not fit LXT tools or LXT chargers. Shop as if the slides are separate. An adapter would be a third product with its own fit and its own warranty, and it is not in either twin-pack box.
