Einhell rotary hammer buying guide

Updated: 2026-10-23

You have a 10 mm plug to seat in brick, and eleven Einhell rotary hammers on amazon.co.uk do not share a shank, a cord or a box. This buying guide orders the choice: the hole, the joules, then whether a battery is in the carton. The [Einhell rotary hammer comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/einhell-rotary-hammer) holds those listings, from £79.00 to £169.99, read on 22 October 2026. Where a spec cell disagrees with the bullets, use the Einhell UK page. This is not a lab test. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the hole, not the watt cell

Impact energy is the first sort, and only as a buyer rule of thumb. About 1.2–2 J covers plug holes up to roughly 16 mm. About 2.5–3.5 J covers larger anchors and repeated chiselling. Higher joules are for large holes and breaking. The low band here is 1.7 J, 1.8 J and the HEROCCO at 2.2 J. Amazon leaves the HEROCCO concrete cell empty. Einhell UK states 20 mm for part 4513900. The middle band is 2.6 J, 3 J and two corded 3.5 J tools. The TE-RH 32 4F kit lists 5 J and 32 mm. The TE-RH 40 3F lists 10 J and 40 mm. The 5 J title says 1,050 W and the bullets say 1,250 W. The corded pair is on the best Einhell rotary hammer page.

Solo, kit or a socket

Four bodies are sold solo, without a battery or charger: the HEROCCO at £127.80, the TE-HD 18/20 Li at £98.95, the TP-HD 18/26 at £159.98 and the TP-HD 18/17-C at £119.95. Reviews of the TE-HD say packs under 4 Ah trip in brick. An empty shelf turns the £98.95 price into a second purchase. The £169.99 TE-HD kit is still 1.8 J. The £159.99 TP-HD 18/28 kit is 3 J with a 3.0 Ah pack and bits. You pay for the battery, not for more joules. Corded tools need a household socket: 240 V on the £79 TE-RH 28 and the 32-1600, 230 V on the RT-RH 32, a 220 V cell on the 5 J kit. None is a 110 V site tool. The 18/17-C does not claim chiselling.

One Max, and it is not the 5 J kit

Ten hammers use SDS Plus. The TE-RH 40 3F, part 4257935, at £169.00 is the only SDS Max, at 10 J and 40 mm, with chisels and an E-Box M55. Drill bits are not included. Plus and Max do not interchange. Five joules does not mean Max. The 5 J kit is still SDS Plus. The Amazon voltage cell prints 18 V against a mains description. Screwfix and Einhell UK say 220–240 V. Plain drilling is not clearly listed. A wall plug stays on Plus. A hole toward 40 mm, or a small break, is the Max job, and you buy Max bits with it.

Cells that disagree with the bullets

Ignore a cell when it fights the bullets. On the 5 J kit, use 1,250 W from the bullets and Einhell UK, not the 1,050 W title. Amazon lists bits at 8, 10 and 16 mm. Einhell UK lists 8, 10 and 12 mm and 5.05 kg, against an 8.38 kg weight cell. Do not average those. Ignore 550 RPM as an impact rate on the HEROCCO. Einhell UK prints up to 5,500 impacts per minute. Also ignore a 30 mm chuck beside 20 mm concrete, a hedge-trimmer bullet and 3.04 g, a 44.5 cm chuck, and a title that spells Dill. Part 4258002 is the TC-RH 28 3F at Einhell and the TE-RH 28 3F on Amazon. Same tool.

Common questions

How many joules do I need for plug holes in brick?
For plug holes up to roughly 16 mm, a buyer rule of thumb is about 1.2–2 J. In this set that points at the 1.7 J, 1.8 J and 2.2 J SDS Plus bodies, not at the 10 J SDS Max. The rule is not a test of these ASINs. Hard engineering brick can still stall a small cordless body if the pack is under 4 Ah. Larger anchors sit nearer 2.5–3.5 J.
Is a solo Power X-Change body ready to drill tonight?
No, unless a charged pack and a charger are already on the shelf. The HEROCCO, the TE-HD 18/20 Li, the TP-HD 18/26 and the TP-HD 18/17-C are sold without a battery and a charger. Einhell recommends 3.0 Ah or higher on the HEROCCO. Reviews of the TE-HD say packs under 4 Ah trip in brick. A solo price is the hammer, not a kit you can use that evening.
Does a 4.0 Ah kit drill harder than the 1.8 J solo?
No. The £169.99 TE-HD kit and the £98.95 TE-HD solo are the same 1.8 J class. The kit adds a 4.0 Ah pack, a charger and a case. It does not add joules, and the written sample is six reviews with no UK text. If you already own a 4 Ah pack, the solo avoids paying for a second one.
The Amazon title says 1,050 W and the bullets say 1,250 W. Which line do I use?
Use the bullets, and check Einhell UK for part 4257944, which prints 1,250 W and 5 J for the TE-RH 32 4F kit. The Amazon title and the max-power cell say 1,050 W. That conflict is why a watt sort is a poor way to rank this set. The joules and the SDS Plus shank are the lines that agree. Check the carton for the bit diameters.
Is 5 J an SDS Max hammer?
No. The TE-RH 32 4F kit is 5 J and SDS Plus. The only SDS Max listing here is the TE-RH 40 3F at 10 J. Plus and Max bits do not interchange. A higher joule number does not change the shank, and the kit’s bits will not lock in the 40 3F. Ordinary plug holes stay on Plus.
