Einhell cordless drill 18V buying guide

Updated: 2026-10-23

You are looking at an Einhell cordless drill 18V because a shelf, a flat-pack or a row of brick plugs needs doing, and the title does not say whether it can drill brick, whether the motor is brushless, or whether a battery is in the carton. This buying guide walks those four checks. The [Einhell cordless drill 18V comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/einhell-cordless-drill-18v) ranks the twelve rows. This page does not crown one of them. Products Compared used the listings, not a laboratory test. Prices are not a live check on 20 October 2026. Match the job to the mechanism

Screws and small timber holes can use the TC-CD 18/35, a brushed driver around 35 Nm with a 10 mm chuck and one gear. Einhell's sheet for part 4513927 does not give it an impact mode. In this set that body is the Solo at about £24.98, with 4.6 from 3,849 reviews, and the kit at about £43 with one 1.5 Ah pack. Either will drive chipboard screws. Neither is the tool when the plug has to sit in brick. Brick plugs need a combi whose listing states hammer mode. The TE-CD 18/44 at about £44 states 44 Nm in the bullets, a 13 mm chuck, two speeds and a 2.5 Ah pack. One field says 14 Nm, so quote the bullets and treat 14 Nm as a clash. Concrete, engineering brick and chasing need an SDS-plus rotary hammer, which sits outside BS EN 62841-2-1's scope for drills and impact drills. If the bit stops, the masonry page is the decision.

Read the model code before the bullet

BL in the model code is the brushless check. The TE-CD 18/50 Li-i BL Solo, at about £53.95 with 4.6 from 2,215 reviews, carries BL and states impact drilling. A bullet that merely says brushless is weaker. The twin pack at about £114.51 claims brushless, and several UK reviews report sparks. Einhell's 10-year brushless cover is the motor only, and only if you register within 30 days. A brushed TC-CD does not get that motor cover. Registration adds a year to the ordinary warranty and does not put a battery in a Solo box. The steps sit on the how to use page.

Chuck, gears, and the numbers that lie

A 10 mm chuck limits the shank. The TC-CD rows are 10 mm, and UK reviews on the Solo mention bits slipping. Where this set states a combi chuck, it is usually 13 mm. The TE-CD 18/50 Li-i BL Solo does not state a chuck size, so do not assume 13 mm. The two-battery TE-CD 18/50 kit states 10 mm in the spec table, and UK reviews say the lock ring is small and bits slip. Twenty-one torque numbers are a clutch, not a second gear. The TC-CD highlight says one speed. Fields that say 21 or 22 speeds are the clutch count. Two mechanical gears are a slider. Ignore claims of 24,000 to 32,000 rpm. On these impact drills those figures match a blows-per-minute number, not the speed of the chuck.

What has to be in the box

Solo means no battery and no charger. The about £24.98 TC-CD Solo, the about £53.95 brushless Solo, and the Professional Solos at about £77 to £96.95 are all bodies. Power X-Change packs from 1.5 Ah to 8 Ah fit more than 300 tools, so a garden pack can run a new body. A first drill cannot. Einhell's shop listed that TC-CD Solo at £36.95 on the research day, above the amazon.co.uk capture. Do not average the two shelves. A case exists only when the included-components line lists one. A UK charger needs a BS 1363 plug, or a compliant conversion plug and a BS 1362 fuse, under regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. One kit's UK reviews reported a Euro two-pin plug. Do not charge it from a shaver socket. The Solo versus kit page adds the starter-kit sum.

Common questions

Is an Einhell cordless drill 18V a combi drill?
Only if the listing states hammer mode as well as screw and drill. TE-CD and TP-CD models in this set are combis. The TC-CD 18/35 is a drill and screwdriver, about 35 Nm, with no impact mode on Einhell's sheet for part 4513927.
How do you know the motor is brushless?
Look for BL in the model code, as on the TE-CD 18/50 Li-i BL. A bullet or a special-features line is not enough. The twin pack claims brushless and UK reviews report sparks. The 10-year cover is the motor only, after you register within 30 days.
Does a Solo include a battery and charger?
No. Solo in this set is the body only. The about £24.98 TC-CD and the about £53.95 TE-CD 18/50 Li-i BL are both Solo. You need a Power X-Change pack you already own, or a kit. A cardboard carton is not a case unless the included-components line names one.
Is 35 Nm enough for brick plugs?
Not on the TC-CD 18/35. That driver has no hammer and a 10 mm chuck. Ordinary plug holes want a stated hammer and a masonry bit that matches the plug packet. Concrete and a bit that stops moving want an SDS drill.
Does the charger need a UK three-pin plug?
A charger for a UK socket needs a BS 1363 plug, or a compliant conversion plug with a BS 1362 fuse. That is regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. Do not use a bathroom shaver socket as the fix.
