Einhell combi drill buying guide

Updated: 2026-10-23

You are comparing Einhell 18 V Power X-Change combi drills on amazon.co.uk, and the title, the bullets and the technical table do not always describe the same carton. This Einhell combi drill buying guide is the order to use before you add anything to the basket: the carton first, then hammer and torque, then the chuck, then the speed cell, then the plug. The [Einhell combi drill comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/einhell-combi-drill) holds the nine rows side by side. Prices and star lines come from those amazon.co.uk listings on 19 October 2026. Products Compared has not drilled a test wall, and a qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the carton

The first split is whether a battery and a charger are in the included-components line. With no Power X-Change pack, a body-only price is not a finished drill. Part 4514287 at £44 is one 2.5 Ah pack and a charger, with no case. Part 4513940 at £75 is two 2.0 Ah packs, a charger and an S35 case. Four other rows, from the £53.95 Solo to the £96.95 120 Nm, list no battery. If you already keep 18 V packs, the bare tool or a kit page does the sum. Do not treat part 4514208 at £113.95 as a 4 Ah kit. The components line says two 2.0 Ah packs. A bullet says two 4 Ah packs and a tank that is not this drill.

Then hammer, torque and brushless

Every row states hammer or impact drilling. That is a claim for occasional masonry, not a promise that the tool replaces an SDS rotary hammer. If the wall is why you are buying, read Einhell combi drill for brick before you chase newton metres. Listed torque runs through 40, 44, 50, 60, 80 and 120 Nm. Around 40–50 Nm is what UK reviewers use for shelves and light timber. The 80 and 120 Nm bodies are the step up, and both are sold without cells. Brushless is not stated on the £44, £89.95 or £110 kits. A 10-year warranty line is the motor only, after registration.

Chuck and the speed cell

Prefer a chuck size the listing prints. Most rows print 13 mm. The £53.95 Solo, part 4513942, prints none. The £75 kit’s table says 10 mm, the title says TP-CD 18/50 Li-i and the bullets say TE-CD 18/50 Li-i BL. The 2025 catalogue lists article 4513940 with a 13 mm chuck. If your shank is 13 mm, buy on the page in front of you. Speed cells of 24,000 to 32,000 rpm are blow rates, not idle speed. Do not sort by them, and do not treat a 40 mm metal cell on the £110 kit as a hole in steel.

Registration and the plug

Register within 30 days if you want the three-year extension on Einhell’s UK warranty page. Two UK reviews of the £110 kit say the charger arrived with a European two-pin plug and no adaptor. Regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 expects a BS 1363 plug. Do not run that lead from a shaver socket. Section 22 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is a 30-day right to reject. The other kits in this set do not carry the same two-pin theme.

Common questions

Do I need a battery in the box?
You need a battery in the box if you do not already own an Einhell 18 V Power X-Change pack and a matching charger. Packs from 1.5 Ah to 8 Ah work across that family, not across Bosch, DeWalt or other platforms. If the included-components line lists only the drill, the price is the body. A Solo sticker of £53.95 is not a lower finished cost until the missing pack and charger are in your hand.
Is 50 Nm enough, or do I need 80 or 120?
Fifty newton metres, where the listing states it, covers the wood and screw work most of these UK reviews describe. Move to the 80 Nm body at £76.98 or the 120 Nm body at £96.95 when you already own packs and you care about heavier DIY. Those notes are individual reviews, not a lab. Neither body includes a battery, and neither replaces an SDS drill in a concrete lintel.
How do I tell brushless without trusting one marketing line?
Look for brushless or BL in the model line and again in the bullets. On this set that pairing is on the TE-CD 18/50 kit and Solo, the compact TP-CD 18/50-C, the 80 Nm and 120 Nm bodies and the 60 Nm kit. The £44, £89.95 and £110 kits do not state it. Brushless describes the motor. It is not a guarantee of a particular hole in your wall.
Is the TP-CD 18/50 the same tool as the TE-CD 18/50?
On part 4513940 they are the same listing arguing with itself. The title says TP-CD 18/50 Li-i and the bullets say TE-CD 18/50 Li-i BL. The separate Solo, part 4513942, is the body without a battery. Do not merge those two part numbers into one carton. Buy the ASIN whose components match the packs you do or do not already own.
When is this the wrong tool for the wall?
It is the wrong tool when the hole is in a concrete lintel, when you are chasing a channel, or when the diameter is well past a normal wall plug. A combi hammer is a ratchet behind a keyless chuck, not an SDS piston. Hire a rotary hammer for that work. Ordinary plug holes in softer brick are the job these listings claim, and the £44 kit still has a UK review with little success in brick.
