ABUS lock cylinder buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You have the old euro cylinder in your hand, and the ABUS logo is the last thing that should set the order. An ABUS lock cylinder buying guide starts with the split you measure from the fixing screw, then the family, then whether a street door needs a mark none of these amazon.co.uk listings states. Peter F. updated this in October 2026. We did not run a lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The eleven rows are the [ABUS lock cylinder comparison](/hub/door-and-window-security/abus-lock-cylinder). Fitting is on the [how to fit a euro lock cylinder](/hub/door-and-window-security/abus-lock-cylinder/sub/abus-lock-cylinder-how-to-fit) page.

Measure the split before the brand

Measure each side from the centre of the fixing screw. ABUS’s UK page uses 5 mm steps and gives 35/40 as an unequal example. West Yorkshire Police say the outside face should not protrude more than 3 mm. Do not copy a proud old cylinder. Write down which number is outside. In this set a 30/30 is 60 mm, a 30/35 is 65 mm, and a 45/45 is 90 mm. A 50/50 and a 35/65 are both 100 mm, so the sum is the wrong field to sort by. Z30/K30 is 60 mm, Z35/K35 is 70 mm, and Z50/K30 is 80 mm. The short cylinders are 21/21, about 42 mm, and 25/25 at 50 mm. A key-and-key cylinder can be turned end for end. A thumbturn cannot, because the knob stays indoors. The XP20SN title says 10/30 and the model line says 35/35, so measure the parcel.

Then pick the family

The D6XNP doubles are the 30/30 at about £25.04 and the 30/35 at about £25.88. Both state an emergency function. Both show 4.6 from 8,357 reviews, one parent shared across those sizes. These bullets do not state TS 007. Five keys and a code card are stated. A code card lets a dealer cut keys. It is not a count of keys already cut. The D6PS sheet states a predetermined breaking point, security level 6, and emergency feature no. Titles that say double entry are contradicted by reviews. The 45/45 at about £10.18 does not print a pre-snap sentence. The TI11 at about £14.93 is different locking. The XP20SN at about £82.28 states a clutch and GPS 9. That is still not the UK star.

A street door may need a mark these listings do not state

West Yorkshire Police point you at a TS 007 cylinder, one star or three, or at Sold Secure SS312. A three-star cylinder is meant to resist snapping on its own. A one-star cylinder reaches three stars only with a two-star handle. A snap line on an unmarked cylinder does not promote it. The mark is meant to be visible on the face. None of the eleven listings states TS 007 or Sold Secure Diamond. ABUS’s UK X60 page states a three-star Kitemark, Sold Secure Diamond and Secured by Design. That cylinder is not an ASIN here. This page does not say every insurer requires TS 007. If the street door needs a stated three-star or Diamond cylinder, this basket is the wrong shelf. GPS 6, 7 and 9 are ABUS’s own levels. The anti-snap euro cylinder page explains the D6PS break.

What to settle before you order

If a key may be left inside, stay with a listing that states the emergency function. In this set that is the D6XNP 30/30, the D6XNP 30/35, and the KD6XNP Z30/K30. The XP20 also states a clutch, only after you settle the length. Five keys are the keys in that box, not a keyed-alike set for the house. Only the C50TI states keyed alike, and only for item 95036. Return a pack that arrives open or without its card. The best ABUS lock cylinder page names one listing per job.

Common questions

Do I measure the whole cylinder or each side from the screw?
Measure each side from the centre of the fixing screw, then add the numbers if you want the overall length. ABUS’s UK page uses 5 mm steps. A 50/50 and a 35/65 are both 100 mm overall, so the sum will not tell you which side is which. Mark the outside measurement before you put the cylinder down.
What does 30/35 mean, and can I turn an unequal double either way?
30/35 means 30 mm on one side of the screw and 35 mm on the other, 65 mm in total. On a key-and-key cylinder you can turn it end for end if the longer side ends up where you measured the longer side. A thumbturn cannot be reversed, because the knob stays inside. Write outside on the number before you order.
Which ABUS family states an emergency function if a key may be left inside?
The D6XNP 30/30 and 30/35 listings state it, and the KD6XNP Z30/K30 states that an outside key still works after you lock it from the knob. The XP20SN also states an emergency function, with the length still in conflict. D6PS titles that say double entry are contradicted by reviews, and the ABUS D6PS sheet says emergency feature no.
Is double entry or pre-snap on a D6PS a UK three-star cylinder?
No. Pre-snap is ABUS’s own line on the D6PS sheet. A UK three-star cylinder is TS 007, meant to show on the face, or a one-star cylinder plus a two-star handle. Sold Secure SS312 Diamond is the police alternative named alongside TS 007. None of those marks is stated on these D6PS listings, and the 45/45 does not even print the pre-snap sentence.
Are five keys a keyed-alike set for the whole house?
No. Five keys means the keys supplied with that cylinder. Keyed alike, in this set, is stated only on the C50TI 25/25, item 95036, and that does not say it matches another listing. The TI11 is sold as different locking. A code card lets a dealer cut more keys for that cylinder. It does not enrol the rest of the house.
Why do two D6X sizes show 4.6 from 8,357?
The 30/30 and the 30/35 show the same star line because the count is one parent, not separate reviews of each split. Use it as the family’s amazon.co.uk rating, not as evidence that 8,357 people fitted a 30/30. The KD6PS Z50/K30’s 4.6 from 1,039 is a count on that ASIN.
